Welcome to the chattiest post-natal club on MN!

We spent a year together chatting about all things pregnancy and baby...

...we've tried and tested countless baby products...

...exchanged hundreds of tips...

...talked about all the big things in life, all the little things, the good times and the tough times...

...we had a good laugh together 😁...

...and somehow we now have gorgeous 3 month old babies without looking a day older ourselves 😅 (must be that good laugh!)

Thank you @BertieBotts I think we’ll get an antilop for my in laws and parents house- my issue with it is that it’s not foldable, we have to take it apart to put away? Realistically Itll probably end up staying out though! Also not available online annoyingly, but we’re only about half an hour away from an ikea so good excuse to make a trip! The Krittur range looks so cute! That’ll be a good idea for when he’s older

PurplePansy05 · 17/11/2021 16:17

@Inmypjsagain I bit the bullet and bought a Tripp Trapp for DS, it was on offer - saved over £70 and have a JL voucher to buy all the accessories. Still waiting for it to be delivered, it must have been a popular choice! However, the ability to have it right at the table and save space, plus the fact DS will use it for a long time are worth it IMO. And it holds value really well, even the old style TTs sell for £70 easy in my area. I've concluded I'm not messing ever again like I did with Baby Bjorn previously, if people say it's good (and a lot do), I'll just buy it. xx

@Inmypjsagain I actually haven't yet as he's slept until 515 for the last two nights!!!! Then back to sleep again until just after 8! He did stir more this morning after he woke for the first time but I think he might have been cold.

Yes, I have the Joie 6 in 1 and would definitely recommend it. They do one that's suitable from birth with reclines all the way back, so if you think they're likely to have a snooze in it then it might be worth looking at that. I think it might be called the Mimzy? A lot of the time I just take him into the kitchen in the buggy as he's in the sitting up one now, but he does like sitting at the table in his high chair 🥰

Aw that's so lovely your husband sent you flowers!

I'm still raging about her comment and my mum's. And then today I saw articles about Little Mix's Perry's body with pictures in all its glory saying how she gave birth in august bla bla bla. So I had a pathetic cry while reading the article 😂 your meals sound lovely. Tbh I've been a bit boring and just been having loads of veg with pasta or rice or something a bit heartier but with loads of veg. I've really upped my exercise though - just gentle stuff like walking/stepping/swimming but I don't want to do things I don't enjoy as it'll put me off. I'm going to ignore the scales except once a week on a Friday (to keep me in check for the weekend!) so hopefully something will change soon.

Had more success at the baby class today!

Inmypjsagain · 17/11/2021 17:06

@PurplePansy05 I totally forgot about the Tripp Trapp! You’ve really got a point, that baby bjorn has been great and I was so dubious. We use the tiny love toy bar with it and it’s fab… maybe I should just do the same with the Tripp trapp! Were definitely getting the ikea one for our parents though

@Daffodil21 oh I didn’t realise that’s the one you had! To be honest, I’m not sure we need the fully reclining newborn one at this point, his head control is pretty good and i want to try and get him in the high chair so he can be a bit more involved when we’re in the kitchen. He’s normally in his baby bjorn on the floor- he always gaggles so much when we’re eating and I really get the impression he wants to be sitting with us! So sweet he sits at the table with you. And yes husband definitely did well, he’s generally quite thoughtful and he’s got even more so since we’ve had baby so I can’t complain! I read the Perrie article in the DM (I know I know!) this morning and thought the same, i thought it could be angles but then she was in that fitted white dress, I clicked off in jealous disgust. We’ll get there! Have you ever done the 30 day shred? I think I might start that again, I know it’s not possible but I’m sure I feel more toned after a week or so of doing it. I’ve bought stuff for an epic salad tonight- it’s going to be ginormous! I bought burrata too… I’m just wondering what the likelihood of me being starving later is?! High I’m assuming 😬 oh and for your post swim question, I think I’d do a quick baby wipe down straight away and normal bath in the evening.

Inmypjsagain · 17/11/2021 17:08

🤨 I sent my mum a link to the joie 6 in 1 earlier saying what do you think of this? And she just replied saying it looks great I’ve just ordered it for you. Which is very lovely… but I was still researching 😂 I sent for an opinion, not a hint! Oh well, one less task! Don’t mean to sound ungrateful, I’m just shocked!

Smurf123 · 17/11/2021 17:24

@Inmypjsagain that's like something my mum would do too 😂
We have the Tripp trap too and the newborn set dd enjoys sitting with us at the table. I like that they are easy to move and slim line plus look dead on in the living room (our living/ dining room is all in one) we bought both of ours of fb marketplace second hand and will sell them on when we are finished. Like @PurplePansy05 we will likely get back what we paid as they hold their value well here

BertieBotts · 17/11/2021 17:43

Aww that's kind of her :)

Yeah you can take the legs off the Antilop, we do that when we travel (also at the moment to store as we're not using it yet) but it's a bit annoying for everyday, we just used to stand it up on the sofa when we ran the hoover round as it's so light. Actually the robot vacuum can go around it but DH likes the floor as clear as possible.

Daffodil21 · 17/11/2021 19:11

@Inmypjsagain aww it definitely sounds like he wants to be more involved 🥰 no I've not heard of the 30 day shred. I'll take a look! I hope you're salad keeps you nice and full! I guess it depends what's in it. I came across that perrie article because I was doing a post MAFS finale Google and that came up so of course I clicked it. Why I do not know because I knew what the pictures would be like 😂 good for her though!

PurplePansy05 · 17/11/2021 21:32

@Daffodil21 I read that article too. To be honest, if I looked like her pre-pregnancy and was pregnant at her age I probably would have bounced back with no flabby bits too. It's obviously genetic anyway, but there's absolutely no comparison between metabolism and skin elasticity in your 20s and in your 30s. The way she looks, I'd expect baby is looked after by someone else a lot of the time whilst she works out with a PT. Now back to reality 😊... and don't forget tummy tuck procedures and insta filters exist too.

Then look at Lauren Goodger who had a baby in July, in her mid-30s.

I think I've conceded that I'll never go back to my pre-pregnancy body because it's a different body now. I'll never look early 20s again because I'm 35, I've already mourned that, so it's a similar moment again. Having said that, we can and will look and feel good with a bit of work and I look forward to it! It will come in its own time. It takes a year for a female body to regain the right balance post partum, we need to work with our bodies, not against them. xx

And also @Daffodil21 I know you mentioned progesterone, I was on it too and it caused water retention and bloating at the time, however it was temporary. If you think it might still affect you maybe have a word with your consultant who prescribed it, it shouldn't still be the case. Would pred have that effect perhaps? xx

Daffodil21 · 17/11/2021 21:59

@PurplePansy05 my husband did say its amazing what millions of £ can do 😂 but yeah pre-pregnancy she looked amazing too. No it's more the steroids. One of the big side effects is weight gain and it says that with 6 months of a good diet and exercise you can reverse the effects after you've weaned off, but obviously I was pregnant so my weight only increased 🙈

Daffodil21 · 17/11/2021 22:04

I'm obviously not expecting to look like a member of little mix 😂 I don't know why I was being so silly!

sarah13xx · 17/11/2021 23:02

@Inmypjsagain I know, it’s horrible! It’s like lying by the pool enjoying your holiday and someone coming up every few hours asking when you’re going home 😂 beat it! I’m surviving thanks, just! Between the dog and baby I literally haven’t stopped all day

sarah13xx · 17/11/2021 23:07

@Daffodil21 omg I saw the talk of post-baby figures there and thought I NEED to mention Perrie, scrolled up and you already had 😂 I think her baby was born the week after ours too! No way would I be wearing a tiny strappy bikini right now (or ever) 🙈 I ordered a Next hold-me-in swimsuit to take him swimming and thought I was doing well even wearing that 🤣

kagerou · 18/11/2021 04:10

I know its a bit late but wondering if I can join in with my little girl Ivy? She was due August 2cd though actually came a bit early in July instead :)
I don't know any parents with similar aged babies so I just thought I'd pop in to chat if you'll have me!

P.S the erratic sleep stage is real - hence the 4am posting!

Daffodil21 · 18/11/2021 07:20

@sarah13xx I'm still wearing my maternity swimsuits - the only bit that needs tightening a is the boobs now that I'm not pregnant or pumping 😂 the annoying thing is I feel like I am actually getting there but then I think clearly not if I'm still getting comments about possibly going into labour!!!

@kagerou welcome. Beautiful name! Hope you weren't up toooo many times last night!

Smurf123 · 18/11/2021 07:52

Welcome @kagerou my dd was due 5th august but came 24th July instead 🙂 hope you got some sleep in the end

Fran919 · 18/11/2021 08:50

Welcome @kagerou

Ladies, can I ask about periods please? I’ve had my first one at 8 weeks PP. has anybody has two periods yet? And for those with other LO did your periods return normal, as in regular for you or all over the place? X

kagerou · 18/11/2021 10:24

Thanks for the welcomes Smile look forward to getting to know you all and having people to chat with who are at the same stage!

kagerou · 18/11/2021 10:26

@Fran919 I haven't had a single period yet Confused

Ive been enjoying the break but starting to get worried that's abnormal Sad

kagerou · 18/11/2021 10:32

Unfortunately Ivy did not go back to sleep last night.

She woke at 2:30am. She was fed, she was burped, she was clean ... the only thing she wasn't was sleepy sigh

So I gave up and read to her, played with her, put music on for her etc. until it was time to get up at 7

I'm now in full on zombie mode while she seemingly has unlimited energy. It's the third time she's done this in the last month and I have no idea what causes it >

RandomCatGenerator · 18/11/2021 12:28

I’m the same @kagerou - I think it’s common for it to take a few months to stabilise.

RandomCatGenerator · 18/11/2021 12:29

And also welcome - gorgeous name!

Daffodil21 · 18/11/2021 12:45

@kagerou I have had a period (I'm not bf) but it was slightly longer than usual which I guess is to be expected. Wow you must be exhausted! I hope you manage to get a nap today!

I actually had some spotting this week between suspected ovulation and AF. I'm sure it's just a normal post birth thing/possible low progesterone but last time that happened I was pregnant. I need to catch a pregnancy before AF is due so I can make sure I get on the necessary medication asap so I don't have the luxury of just waiting and seeing. I bought a couple of pregnancy tests yesterday while pushing a 3 month old in a pram 😂 the woman looked a little confused!!!! I'm sure it's not but I can't not check if there's any doubt.

Thanks ladies for all the support about speaking to my GP - I had my appointment this morning and he was absolutely brilliant. He was so understanding and I feel so much better already just hearing that he didn't think I was a total weirdo! He's referring me for help and agreed PTSD. I'm so glad I phoned him so thank you all for making me feel more at ease in doing so

BertieBotts · 18/11/2021 12:48

If you're breastfeeding you might not get periods back until you stop. Note that doesn't mean you're not fertile, as you'll ovulate before that first period. I didn't get them back until 18 months with DS1 (I was still breastfeeding him).
