@biscuitcat So the necklace arrived and I've been trying it out today. So far so good, he's still figuring it out, but doesn't mind holding it or kneading it during the feeds. It is quite long which can be helpful because depending on how we feed he sometimes gets to touch the beads with both of his hands so no scratches or pinching ar all 👌 I'd suggest you check safety certifications (which I'm sure you will anyway) to make sure the silicone is safe and the clasp gets undone for safety. It can be used for teething too but of course only supervised. Here is mine with my little one next to it, excuse the awkward angle during the bf break xx

I've just done the god awful thing of cutting DDs nails and took a chunk of finger witb it. Now I am crying and OH is cursing me. Been trying to get her to sleep for 3 hours to no avail and she scratched my hand where I burnt it earlier on today so went to cut her nails and now wish I hadn't 😭😭

wimbler · 25/10/2021 23:00

@Smallbean27 ds can do this, it’s just something we tried very early on, maybe 2 weeks old? Dd never managed this until we did sleep training at 7 months but ds seems to prefer his own space a little more. He gets a bit frustrated if we try and rock him to sleep. It could be that as we have a toddler he’s had to adapt to life a bit differently. He gets plonked down and left a lot and sadly I don’t have the luxury of being able to devote time to it. I’m lucky that he’s easy in that respect but also he never naps for longer than 30 mins and I also feel I’m missing out on that time I had with dd when she was his age

Millymay13 · 25/10/2021 23:13

We’ve had a day of very few short naps too, DS has only napped when I’ve put him in the sling and for about 10 mins in his pram…apart from that he’s been tired and grizzly. Fingers crossed we all get good nights tonight 🤞🏻

@lucyrp I cut a (small) chunk at the end of DS thumb on Saturday with the nail clippers. I felt terrible and totally regretted not buying the nail file Pansy had recommended…it is on order now though! Here’s hoping your DD heals quickly and it’s all forgotten about soon x

sarah13xx · 25/10/2021 23:27

@Millymay13 exactly what I did! It’s sooo hard to avoid though, even since doing it I’ve been extra careful but every time I cut I think that could be a bit of skin away again 🙈

sarah13xx · 26/10/2021 00:32

Decided not to wake Freddie for his ‘dream feed’ at 11 tonight for the first time ever. He went down a bit early tonight (before 8) so I’m doubtful if he’ll make it to 8am but worst comes to worst he gets up for a feed during the night and I’ll know he’s not ready yet 🤷🏼‍♀️

We’re going to take him swimming for the first time while we’re away at the weekend! Ordered him a full body suit that looks cosy. I think he’ll absolutely love swimming, the bath is his favourite part of the day. I was a bit wary and thought he was too young still but I think I’ll just take him and see how he gets on

Ready2020 · 26/10/2021 03:26

Well I managed 2 and a half hours sleep anyway. Could be worse. Dd woke at 2.30 and if having a long feed. I'm listening to the headspace app. Currently taking a relaxing walk through a late night flower market lol ..

I don't feel I should really be left in charge of a small child with only 2 hours sleep in 24 hours Confused OH needs to sleep too though. Hopefully she'll be fine once in the cot.

@sarah13xx oh I can't wait to take DD swimming. Bit dubious about those swimming nappies though and imagining a poonami in the pool!

lucyrp · 26/10/2021 03:38

@sarah13xx were taking DD swimming on the weekend and she turns 9 weeks today 🙈

Smallbean27 · 26/10/2021 03:50

@lucyrp @sarah13xx we took LO swimming whilst on holiday, he was 8 weeks. He loved it! We used a reusable nappy liner, happy nappy and a thermal wetsuit. He stayed warm enough for a good 30 mons, could have gone longer but he got tired quite quickly.
The hardest part was getting him changed and you changed 😂 luckily there was 2 of us.

lucyrp · 26/10/2021 03:52

@Smallbean27 a lot of the mums go swimming after one of the baby groups I go to and it's a lovely bunch of ladies so I'd like to go with them but of course OH wants to take DD swimming for her first time first so I've got a little wetsuit on order from joules which should be here this week sometime then we can take her swimming on the weekend 🥺

wimbler · 26/10/2021 06:39

@sarah13xx how did skipping the dream feed go? I’ve been wondering whether to try this.

Think I need an elimination diet. I’ve been waking up the past few nights with bad stomach pains and at the same time ds is clearly in pain with his tummy too. Must be something I’ve eaten?

PurplePansy05 · 26/10/2021 08:25

We're going swimming this week too (he's 12 weeks old now) 😊 Great minds think alike haha!

Is everyone putting them in full wetsuits? I have a Splash About nappy for him and a reusable swim nappy to go underneath, thought that would suffice in a warm leisure pool?

Also a full wetsuit or the full warm wetsuit cause there are different types??
I've not thought of that Blush

We're not signing him up for any baby swimming classes for a while yet, it costs double to take him and only one parent can be in the pool and we want to go as a family. So we're planning it with friends with young DCs too instead and we'll see maybe when he's 18m-2 yo I might sign him up for baby swimming to progress to lessons when he's big enough. xx

@Smallbean27 I’ve ordered a happy nappy, do I need something to go in it? He usually only has one dirty nappy a day, sometimes not even, so I’m just reallly hoping that doesn’t happen to be during the time we’re in 🙈

sarah13xx · 26/10/2021 08:48

@PurplePansy05 it’s the splash about warm in one I’ve ordered with a happy nappy too. I just googled and that came up and seems to be really warm. It’s obviously not our local pool because we’ll be away so I don’t actually know how warm itl be

PurplePansy05 · 26/10/2021 08:51

Some pools require babies to be double-nappied, you need to check the pool policy @sarah13xx.

OP posts:
sarah13xx · 26/10/2021 08:51

@wimbler yeah dont 🤣 I think I just picked the wrong night to try it. If he’d gone to bed a bit later it would of probably been fine but he was hungry at 3 so that backfired

sarah13xx · 26/10/2021 08:53

@PurplePansy05 I’ll maybe do that just in case

sarah13xx · 26/10/2021 08:55

I had him signed up for water babies (before I saw it was £180 for 10 weeks). I’ve signed up to a local one now which is £15 per week, so slightly better but still quite a lot when he’d enjoy it just as much if we just took him swimming 🙈 I think I’ll wait til he’s a bit bigger for the lessons

Smallbean27 · 26/10/2021 08:56

@sarah13xx there is usually a double napped rule like @PurplePansy05 said, but it depends on the pool. I got a splash about nappy wrap from amazon, he did a small poo when he was swimming and it was contained.
We have the warm in one splash about wetsuit, it's got a fleecy liner and he was quite happy in that.
If its a kids pool it should be 30-31 degrees, if it's a normal pool can be 27-30. If you ring up they will be able to tell you or ask the lifeguard that's there, they will know.

sarah13xx · 26/10/2021 08:59

So what’s the best swim nappy to put under the splash about nappy?

PurplePansy05 · 26/10/2021 09:22

We have reusable Konfidence swim nappies to go under the Splash About, they were recommended by a couple of our local baby swimming groups xx

Smallbean27 · 26/10/2021 13:22

You can buy disposable swim nappies from shops or a reusable wrap.

Ready2020 · 26/10/2021 17:24

So I got a prescription for citalopram but Dr wants to double check with pharmacist that I can take it while breastfeeding but I think it'll be fine. Also got cbt and referred to physio for the pelvic floor muscles.

DD has had good naps today. 3 hours this morning and an hour almost just now to set up for bed.

Trying to pack for our trip though I think it'll be a rush in the morning as always. DD hates the car seat these days so it'll be one of us in the back with her all the way down.

I'm a little nervous about going to England due to the no mask situation. Do people still wear them even though its not law?

RandomCatGenerator · 26/10/2021 18:39

I’m taking citalopram and am breastfeeding (well, pumping) @Ready2020. The possibly harm to DS is much lower than the definite harm to me if I didn’t take them. I’m glad they’re taking you seriously and giving you practical solutions ❤️

RandomCatGenerator · 26/10/2021 18:41

Can I ask a sex question please?

DH and I have tried to have sex for the first time post baby - we’ve tried twice and both times its felt too tight to work. Lube helped but it’s still so tight and becomes painful after a few gentle thrusts.

Any advice? It’s been a long time - we haven’t had sex since about 6 months pregnant as I was so uncomfortable generally with pelvic pain and vaginal pain.
