Anyone that's had a c-section...when did you drive? The advice seems to vary depending on who you ask
I am 3 weeks postnatal and feel fine and my scar feels fine too.

I waited until 5 weeks but was probably fine from 4. Basically if you'd be able to perform an emergency stop then you should be ok. I checked my insurance and it said "speak to your doctor about when you'll be safe to drive". I needed to ring the doctor's anyway and asked the receptionist as I thought it seemed like a waste of an appointment, she confirmed that the doctor would just ask if I felt able to do an emergency stop so I just made my own judgement.

I drove at 3w just a short journey to make sure I felt ok. I checked with the MW and she said it was a matter for my insurance company and as to whether I felt ok.

I drove at 4 weeks and felt fine to do so. As others have said, if you can do an emergency stop without hesitating because of the pressure on your scar then you’ll be fine 😊

I drove at 16 days post section. All good. Felt fine and what a god send.

Basically, if you can do a hard brake without fear you should be okay. Just be careful of lifting pram in and out etc

Emcs and 8 weeks.

My 1st cs I waited 6 weeks, 2nd 3 weeks.

I think it was 6 weeks I was told. It's worth checking with doc as it could invalidate your car insurance if you did have a crash

2 weeks after with my first. Second didn't need to drive as it was lockdown. I had to ring my Dr and they had to agree I could do an emergency stop, which they did. 👍

Italiandreams · 07/11/2021 15:35

My insurance company just said as soon as I felt safe to do so as long has my doctor hadn’t advised me not to. Think it was 3 or 4 weeks

3 weeks but I could have drove after 2 weeks really. No way was I waiting 6 weeks, I was already starting to feel fed up and isolated.

I wasn't actually told anything, but equally amid all the flap of having a sick child, I didn't ask. I'd vaguely heard 6 weeks but actually it was just before that as we had an emergency and dh didn't drive.
