Did you sleep train? How did it go?

Have you tried sleep training?
What did you use?
Did you get help from someone?

Did it work?

My DD sleep regression has been on for over a month now. She is 5 months today.
Wondering if i should sleep train or not?

She used to be a good sleeper before. Now wakes hourly and cries for boob. No shushing, patting, pacifier helps....

Used gradual retreat for both of mine. 1st at 13mo 2nd at 9mo. DH did the sitting with them. Within three nights ish they both slept through, it wasn't particularly nice but neither was extended sleep deprivation and baby crankiness.

I know some people it didn't work for. The main thing I learned was that you need to establish sleep associations. If they've never gone to sleep anywhere but your arms or boob, they're going to complain while they get used to something else. Complaining is not always equal to distress, they can cry because they're annoyed rather than distressed.

@SunnySideUp2020 How are you getting on? Did you decide to sleep train? I am in exactly the same boat as you with my 5 month old...

@CheekyAFAIK
Thanks for sharing!

@LoveYouHoneybear well we decided to wait as we are travelling for long period of times this month and the next and going into diff time zones etc... and from what i gathered 5m seems a bit too young to sleep train so we will give it a go at around 7 months when we are home for a couple of weeks!
We also asked the paediatrician and she recommended a sleep trainer to help....

In the meantime i am sleep deprived like never before. 😑

Think i will introduce some formula so that DH can help as well. That being said she needs a special one for cmpa and she won't take a bottle 🙄 so not even sure this will work but we will give it a go

@SunnySideUp2020 Yes we are going to wait to do anything until she moves into her own room next month! In the meantime, know that you're not alone! Constant wake ups and only settled with boob here too!

@LoveYouHoneybear keep me posted on how it goes...
Good luck!!! 💪
I try to think about it as a phase... a very long tiring phase 😄
