DD - 1week old - formula fed teat size.

Morning,
My DD is a week old.
At her 5 day community midwife check up, she said to up her teat size from a MAM 1 to the 2.
Reason given was babies can tire themselves out sucking too hard.

We did the all day yesterday, size 2 tears and 4oz. Her early AM feed (5:20am) she vomited it all back up.

I have noticed she's getting her milk faster but is more gulpy.

My anxiety is sky high at the minute and am thinking all the worse case senators as to why she was sick.. was it the 2 teats or does she have a bug/something wrong.

Thanks for reading.

Go back to the other teats if she was doing ok with them. When she's older and taking a long time to feed then you can try the faster ones again

The age guide on mam size 2 is 2 months.
Was she doing ok on size 1?

Did the midwife observe a feed? Is she falling asleep while feeding using the size 1?

If all was going well on the size 1 and she's been gulpy and sick on 2 then switch back for now and try the switch when she's a bit bigger.

Go back to the other one and wait a week or two

Thanks everyone.

I mentioned that some feeds she was falling asleep but not all feeds.
Midwife said she's tiring herself out and therefore needs the bigger teat.
She mentioned they tell everyone, even premie parents to up a teat size after day 5.

The information has changed since my 1st DD 7 years ago, and literally with each midwife I've seen during the pregnancy, birth and post.

Trying to trust my gut but it's hard with all the conflicting info...
