WHO recommends you start with purées progressing to finger food. When I wean my baby I will probably start her with puréed veg at lunchtime to give her tummy time to digest the food before bedtime. Then gradually over the course of a month or two add in fruit, finger foods and dinner.

I've started weaning my twins

If you have a Boots club card you can get a free Ellas Kitchen weaning book in there

Start with root vegetables - different one each day for 2 weeks - you'll need a blender to get it really mushy - mix with a bit of their usual milk

Don't start with fruit as some people think that giving them sweet things too early will make them less likely to accept veg later on

Week 1
Potato
Brocolli
Cauliflower
Green beans
Cabbage
Avocado
Peas

Week 2
Courgette
Carrot
Suede
Brussel sprout
Aubergine
Butternut squash

Don't expect them to have more than a teaspoon or so but you can freeze the rest in ice cube trays. They'll still have the same amount of milk so don't drop any feeds. Try it after they've had a bottle and are awake rather than sleepy

Week 3 onwards you can introduce fruits and start doing maybe fruit purée for breakfast and a vegetable one at lunch and gradually swapping out milk feeds.
