Waiting on Child Benefit decision.. 6+ weeks

Hey guys I have applied for child benefit 3 months after my baby was born and here I am 6 weeks later no wiser.
I received a text saying they will write to me with a decision but I am confused, what is there to make a decision about? I thought everyone can get child benefit!
I am an EU national but do have settled status to reside in the UK.. my partner is close to the £50k limit but not quite on it so that shouldn't be affecting it either.

How long did it take for everyone else?
It does say please leave 12 weeks before contacting us but at this point I'm gonna be losing out on so much money I could've spent on my boy!

The application still needs to be processed and it'll be backdated to the day you made the claim. The website also says it can take 6-12 weeks to make the claim. We experienced huge delays recently with a JSA claim. We were struggling to put food on the table so they really won't care if your claim is delayed.

The money will be backdated so you're not missing out on it. You'll get all the money once your claim goes through.

It will be backdated up to 3 months from the date of claim (or birth if the baby is less than 3 months old), so you won't be 'losing out'.

This is good to know. That's a comfort at least. I thought it meant backdated for 3 months from the date it would go through! Silly me 😃

You'll get it back dated upto 3 months Smile also everyone receives that text regarding a decision on your claim to be made. I got that text and just over two weeks later got the back date red money into my account without notice so just keep checking your bank 😄

Mine just went into my bank one day and then the letter followed a month or so later, keep checking, but as has been said it will be backdated anyway.
