So worried that my newborn has conjunctivitis 😞 there was a discharge coming from her eye the last 2 days. My partner said it was just sleepy dust and not to worry but now her eyelids look red and sore. I’m seeing the midwife tomorrow anyway but should I contact someone before? Sorry first time mum and also abit of a worrier!

I am not sure but just had to say you have one beautiful baby.
Someone knowledgeable will be along - and if baby is not uncomfortable should be fine for the midwife tomorrow

If the eye is weeping it maybe conjunctivitis. Very common in babies and spreads really easily. Clean with cotton wool soaked in boiled salt water once cooled. If you have breast milk squirt some into babies eye. This should really help.

Don't know the answer to your question but that smiley photo is very, very cute!

Blocked tear ducts are very common in newborns, both of mine had this and their eyes were red and weepy for about 7-10 days. Bathe with cooled boiled water twice a day or with breast milk if you're breast feeding, it should clear it up.
It can occasionally develop into conjunctivitis so keep an eye.
And congratulations, what a gorgeous bubba!

DS had blocked tear ducts, they sorted themselves out.
