Mini pill and breastfeeding - awful! Can it cause a fussy baby too?

I had my DD 3 and a half months ago and started taking the mini pill at the 3 month mark. After a week on this pill I started spotting which I thought could be normal, my body adjusting etc, but it got quickly a lot worse until I was bleeding so heavily with such bad cramps I could hardly stand up straight. The pain went through to my lower back and I couldn’t even carry my daughter for long periods of time because of the back pain. This was alongside severe mood swings and grumpiness, low mood, inability to fall asleep even though I was shattered and in general I’d never felt so sleep deprived, low and just generally sore in my body ever. Including after childbirth!

I linked it to the pill pretty quickly and myself and my partner decided it’s best I come off. We as new mums have enough to manage without all that! Still disgusted I was even prescribed it but I know some people don’t have any issues but I’ve had so many people say they went through the same!

But anyway my actually question here is has anyone noticed the pill affect their baby when breastfeeding? I don’t think my milk supply was massively affected as she feeds for the same amount of time but she’s been more fussy, grumpy and even sounds angry sometimes and I was wondering if the hormones in the pill can cause this in the babies too?

Many thanks! xx

I have no specific answer to your question but in general I recommend reading the book The Bitter Pill by Dr Ellen Grant. My 9 months on the pill messed up my hormones for decades after. Reading this book threw some light on the full extent of the damage done to millions of women. The pill is licensed endocrine disruption.
