Desperate for some help please.
Baby was born 4 days ago at 35+2. Has been in special care ever since. The midwives too me to express milk every three hours for 15mins on each boob. It had been going really well but just done at 2am pump and got hardly anything. My boobs feel like rocks. Should I be pumping for longer now? Until the feel empty of should I continue with the 15 mins so I don't over produce. I really don't want my supply to start to dwindle as baby is doing so well with my milk via feeding tube. Help please!!

If your boobs are like rocks you need to get some of the milk off so keep pumping until they're more comfortable. To help trigger let down, look at pics or a video of your baby, sniff something of hers and try to find the 'awww' happy feeling.

Also, while pumping, massage the breasts in the direction from the edge of the breast to the nipple, firmly. Focus on the hard bits.

Photos helped my flow. holding something of theirs or being near baby if you can will help. Try stay relaxed to get the hormones going

Can you ask to hospital to rent one of their double hospital breast pumps?

So much more efficient and can express both breast at the same time

Use a shower head on the warmest setting you can tolerate, and hand express in the shower to get your milk flowing. I used this strategy a lot.

I took his blankets home too - smelling him (or thinking I could smell him!?) really helped

I did a lot of pumping next to his incubator too.
