Hi all

As I’m rubbish and keep double posting I thought I’d start a new thread as we’re nearly at 1k.
I don’t have all of the OG’s so apologies for anyone I miss or anyone I miss in general (blaming lack of coffee this morning!!)

@Fivebyfive2 I think browsing on Rightmove is the adult version of going through the Argos catalogue! I love it!!! Eugh, inconsiderate neighbours... yay(!) I'm glad Joe is napping! And that his cuteness was helping your friend out too 😊

Fivebyfive2 · 31/07/2020 15:53

Ha ha yes definitely like looking through the argos book at Christmas!!

OK I know I always put pics of Joe up, but I just also had to share Maximo relaxing on the play area! Enjoying the peace while the tiny loud human sleeps 😂 Oh and also, Joe chilling earlier. I think they're mimicking each other!

@Fivebyfive2 oh bless, look! So cute 😍

Check my two monsters out...

Fivebyfive2 · 31/07/2020 18:36

@MrsR16, aaaaahhh bless them! So cute together 😍

MrsR16 · 31/07/2020 18:47

@Fivebyfive2 DDog is definitely feeling the heat! Ethan was trying to grab his tail while I was talking to the ILs... 🤦‍♀️ I lost count of how many times I said "no, Ethan!" 😂😂

ELW85 · 31/07/2020 20:35

Evening all

So today has been hell, Finn has just been an overtired mess fighting every nap and bedtime.
Couldn’t even feed him to sleep,
It took so long to get him to sleep for the last nap of the day (1h40) we just decided to make it bedtime. He managed 4 hours through the day and was awake nearly 3 hours by the time we got him to sleep.
This better be the sodding regression or I’m in trouble!

@MrsR16 @Fivebyfive2 - honestly I love our house and totally CBA to move. But it’s for schools, investment etc. It’ll be worth it. Or the most stressful thing I’ve ever done. One or the other 😂
And yes!! Browsing Rightmove is definitely like looking at the Argos catalogue as a kid. Brilliant!!

I hope you’ve all had better days than me. Christ! If he wakes up I might cry.

@ELW85, probably the heat too! Joe's been good today but fought going to bed terribly, it took almost 1.5 hours! Hoping he sleeps well tonight...

MrsR16 · 31/07/2020 21:38

@ELW85 @Fivebyfive2 I have everything crossed for both of you!! We were going to move Ethan into his own room tonight but it's so sodding hot I think we'd be on a losing battle before we even start! Tomorrow night though....

ELW85 · 01/08/2020 07:48

Morning all

How were your nights?

Finn passed out for over 8 hours, quick feed around 3.30 then back down til 5 then 7.15.

@MrsR16 - I’m so nervous about moving Finn when the time comes!
@Fivebyfive2 -1.5 hours?! Does it always take that long!!?

OP posts:
MrsEG · 01/08/2020 08:12

Morning all,
How did everyone cope yesterday? It was 33 here (!!) so we literally didn’t leave the house, kept all windows and doors shut to try and keep the house cool. Their room was only 26 when we went up thank god, left the fan on and they had a great sleep. My FitBit seems to think I did too, but my head disagrees - that’ll teach me to drink so much wine of a Friday evening...

We kicked off the weaning yesterday - we’re doing the two weeks of veg to kick them off and hopefully give them an appetite for their greens! They bloody hated asparagus though, it’s like they were looking deep in to my soul like ‘Mother, why?!’ Poor buggers are having courgette today so it’s not getting much better, boys!!

@ELW85 Yeah I found everyone talked about the regression in terms of actual sleep but the biggest problem I had with it was settling to sleep, it would just take so so long, some naps I’d be settling for 30 mins just for a 20 min nap, it was soul destroying! But you do just sort of have to let them work through it I think; huge changes going on. If I think back to how the boys slept then compared to now which has only been like 2 months it’s totally different. Now I find them both starfished on their tummies every morning!!
Your house is so lovely! I love ‘browsing’ RightMove too we do it all the time!! Hope you get loads of interest!

@Fivebyfive2 Ahh glad you had a nice walk and visit from your friend! I was supposed to have a friend round today but Boris has put a stop to that haha! I love the pics - how has Maximo taken to Joe? Our dog still just doesn’t know what to make of the boys at all!

@MrsR16 How cute is he! And your dog 😂 ours spent most of yesterday lay in the mud under the trees in the garden! Poor wee thing!

ELW85 · 01/08/2020 09:25

@MrsEG - ah thank you! I do love our house but we were always planning on moving, just not so soon so I almost find it a bit jarring...even though it was my idea 😂
Totally agree; the regression so far isn’t about his sleep itself, it’s the settling. He put himself back into a deep sleep loads last night but it was like a demonic possession trying to get him down!
I’ve decided that if he needs bounced to sleep, so be it. I can freak out about it but it’ll all change again so might as well go with it and figure out the independent sleep again later.
Those pics of the boys are beyond brilliant! Maybe asparagus is an acquired taste when you’re older...like olives 😂
Did it go well in general though?

OP posts:
MrsEG · 01/08/2020 09:49

@ELW85 Generally it went fine! I didn’t feed them at all just encouraged them to pick up the spoons and they put them straight in their mouths, I think they preferred the Cognispoons as they sucked away on those. They didn’t have a clue what to do with the asparagus spears I’d steamed for them, held them and just stared at me blankly haha. But I’m taking it as a win for day 1! The clean up was just unreal though 🙈
Yep I think that’s a solid approach and we did the same, do what you need to to get through it, it’s all change again in another month! The only thing I’m rigid with is bedtime routine I try and always stick to that no matter what the day has been like and it’s always seemed to help get us back on track.
I think if we were in a position we could move at the moment we absolutely would! Seems a great time to do it, so why not! At least then it’s done and you won’t have to think about it again!!

Fivebyfive2 · 01/08/2020 10:18

@ELW85, no thankfully it usually only takes 15 to 30 mins to settle him, either feeds to almost asleep and goes off or just feeds or gets rocked to sleep and put down gently. But he was not having any of it last night, I think he was too hot!

@MrsEG, go boys, I'm sure they'll pick it up 😀 Joe does a proper disgusted face whenever he has something the first time, but still goes in for more 😂

MrsEG · 01/08/2020 15:54

@TrashKitten10 I forgot to say, thanks so much for the BLW advice! We’ve done puree letting them use their own spoon with the finger food yesterday and today, they don’t seem to have a clue what to do with the finger food at all. Did you just keep offering? I’m only doing the purées for the first two weeks as the veg intro, then I’ll be cooking for them. So I’m hoping they start to get it! LOL at Daisy’s patience haha, like mother I have been sat in this high chair for 10 seconds now and there is no food in front of me!!
Yeah the clean up is something else, I’ve prepped a few veggies for the next few days so I’m just steaming the finger foods during the day which takes no time. Luckily the dog is very much enjoying and spillage!

@Fivebyfive2 Ha bless him, has he got any food favourites yet? I can’t wait to start making meals for them. We got the book ‘What mummy makes’ and there’s some fab recipes/ideas in it!

Fivebyfive2 · 01/08/2020 16:32

@MrsEG, he loves carrots! And mashed potatoes. When we give the pouches I've noticed he really goes crazy for the tomato based ones, like vegetable lasagne and bolognase. He went off the porridge a bit, so now I just mix the ready brek oats into yogurt and he seems to prefer that, I think maybe he likes the consistency more?? We still struggle with finger food now to be honest. I thought as he fed himself with the spoon so well that he'd be fine, but he just seems confused still... Like food is literally the only thing this child will not pick up and immediately put in his mouth?! Whyyyyy?!! We have had success with banana recently though, so we'll just keep trying. Until he gets the hang of that a bit more I'm giving the 'heavier' meals (pasta, meat etc) from pouches because can't blend them down as well and I'm too scared to let him go to town on chicken etc until he can handle soft veg and bananas confidently. Not sure if I'm doing it right to be honest!! 😕

Fivebyfive2 · 01/08/2020 16:37

Oh also, is it acceptable after another in law visit (dh brought her over after they went to visit his nan) to feed fussy, teething baby to sleep, leave him with dad just to walk around town for 30 mins by myself... Buy chocolate... Inhale said chocolate in its entirety on the walk home?! Asking for a friend 😂

TrashKitten10 · 01/08/2020 18:53

@MrsEG That's where we went wrong in getting a cat. She might sniff around a bit for some roast chicken but normally she thinks far too highly of herself to be mopping up food spillages off the floor. Perhaps getting a dog should be part of the weaning advice ☺️ Sounds like they did really well with the spoons and they'll soon get there with finger food. Can't believe the boys are 6 months already! Doesn't seem like 5 minutes since we were all waiting for updates on them being born!

@Fivebyfive2 I think that is the only reasonable option you have after another bombardment from the in laws. Get that chocolate inhaled! How was the visit? Can Joe teach Daisy how to use a spoon? 🥴 We have done pretty much entirely finger foods from the start so she will tackle anything with her hands but is useless with a spoon 🤦🏻‍♀️ She chews the wrong end, uses it as a slingshot, tips everything off the spoon then puts the empty spoon in her mouth. Then just drops the spoon and goes back to her hands. MIL remarked that she will never learn to use cutlery just shovelling food into her mouth with her hands (don't they always have a comment! 😂). Hoping she won't be be sat there at 18 still scooping mashed potato up with her hands but we shall see ☺️

@ELW85 Your house is gorgeous!

Fivebyfive2 · 01/08/2020 20:25

@TrashKitten10, isn't it funny how they all do their own thing?! I love it, it helps me remember they're all different and makes me less stressed about comparing, which is something I've noticed myself doing more than I'd like recently. The visit was ok, I was a bit tense because of how fussy he was being but she wasn't here long. Daisy sounds like she's doing really well with eating and don't worry I'm sure she'll pick up cutlery etiquette soon enough 😛

@MrsR16, are you putting Ethan in his room tonight? Good luck either way!

So big success tonight, especially considering the day we've had... Joe got himself to sleep!! No rocking, not on boob, he was in his snuzpod after a feed and I lay next to him but wasn't patting, just shushing occasionally and he went off! I'm so proud of him 😀 He'll be awake in like 10 mins now probably 😂

MrsR16 · 01/08/2020 20:43

@ELW85 last night wasn't bad! DH and I went to bed far too late and Ethan was awake at 4:50! 🤦‍♀️ that's wonderful Finn did so well last night! Fingers crossed he does just as well tonight for you!

@MrsEG your poor dog.... 🤦‍♀️ heat's bad for them most of the time, but your poor husky!! OMG I died when I saw the boys' faces 😂 bless them!

@Fivebyfive2 the only thing I would suggest with the chocolate is to next time buy enough to have a secret stash at home! 😂 I would also eat most of it that same day though, so it may not work! Ethan is currently in his own room. I'm petrified, but I know he'll be just fine. I've had to resettle him once, but that's due to noisy people walking past our house 🤬 that's wonderful that Joe got himself to sleep! Well done, him!! 🎉

ELW85 · 02/08/2020 08:53

Morning all

Sorry for the late reply. Yesterday was hellish with getting him down again, I couldn’t even go to the second viewing with DH, had to drive Finn around in the hopes of sleep. Got there in the end. This regression can f right off.
Anyway; not so much of a great night last night but the first part is my fault. I’ve discovered that Finn does a little shout. Flails his arms and sends himself back to sleep. Like stone cold asleep. I thought “great, I’ll tuck his arms in” stop Moro and all that...well that greatly disturbed him which led to a full on wake up.
We’ll get there though. Lesson learned.
The cutest thing was after a feed he was full of smiles and wouldn’t go to sleep so o got him out of the Snuzpod, kiss and cuddle, told him I loved him, back in the Snuzpod and off he went. Clearly just wanted a bit of love 💙

@TrashKitten10 - thank you! I love our house but we’re saving so much in moving now. Although I’m gutted.

@Fivebyfive2 - you deserve a medal never mind chocolate with the MiL! I hope you enjoyed it? How good is Joe just going to sleep like that?! Awesome! I hope he had a nice night?

@MrsR16 - uhoh! Served you right for trying to have a normal evening 😂 I Hope last night wasn’t too bad?

@MrsEG - I’m so pleased the weaning is going well for you. I’m so excited and nervous to do it next month (have a virtual weaning course next Thursday).

Well ladies, we have another viewing of our house today. The couple yesterday loved it and made a point of telling us they were proceedable. They basically want to convert the garage to a cinema room but that’s about it.
I’m hoping the couple today love it too and then there’s a bidding war. A girl can dream!!

OP posts:
MrsEG · 02/08/2020 09:13

@ELW85 We did similar! Did a virtual NCT weaning workshop. It was fab, I felt a lot happier after it, and also felt the pressure to wean early came away too - I had loads of info to hand to throw back at Mum who’s been trying to get me to wean them since they were 4 months old! Conor has really taken to it, but I can tell Ruairí is literally only just ready and hasn’t fully lost his tongue thrust reflex really. Mum also hates that I’m doing baby led... I could go on all day about how she disagrees with everything I’m doing basically haha! But yeah - the course was ace and just helps you make your own informed decision about what works best for you!
I hope you do get a bidding war how ace would that be!

@MrsR16 The poor dog has roasted bless him, I’m so glad it’s cooler today!!

@Fivebyfive2 I hope you bought all the chocolate! Unannounced IL visit?! Not okay haha!

@TrashKitten10 I know, I cannot believe they’re 6 months - it’s gone in the blink of an eye it really has! Ha, the dog is vile - the boys were sick on the playmat the other day and before I could grab a cloth I turned around and he’d already polished it off 🙈 I mean, he saved me a pretty gross job but still! He has an iron stomach, some of the things he’s eaten over the years... an entire sofa bed, for one!!

We’re braving a day out today! Off to the sculpture park in Yorkshire. Boys are currently flat out in the car so hoping they’ll be well rested and on their best behaviour haha. We shall see!!

ELW85 · 02/08/2020 09:39

@MrsEG - oh have a wonderful time! I’m going to try and get us all out for a walk later. Maybe some chips. Turns out I was hormonal so I’m using that as an excuse for eating as I have been 😂

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 02/08/2020 11:39

@ELW85 oh goodness! You sound like you had an interesting day! Good on Finn for going to sleep after a bit of love though 😊 I've also learnt that you don't touch them when they're asleep 😂 Ethan didn't do too badly last night thankfully. I had to go in and settle him about half 2ish and then he was awake from 4:35 this morning 😴 I hope the house viewing goes well!!

@MrsEG my pooch is thankful too! He's been a bit off colour the last few days and I don't think the heat has helped! I hope you and all your boys enjoy today! Sounds fab!

ELW85 · 02/08/2020 14:40

@MrsR16 - I’ll never disturb him again! My lord 😂
The viewing went pretty well...I think.
They were international students and it’s going to be their first bought home so the questions were mostly around bills and what we’d leave behind in terms of furniture. Oh to be looking at a £300k property as your first house eh?!
How are you surviving after the remarkably early start to your day?

OP posts:
Fivebyfive2 · 02/08/2020 16:16

@ELW85, I think a bidding war could very well be on the cards!! Oooohhh yes I too learned the hard way not to disturb them if possible!

@MrsR16, sounds a similar night to us! Joe did 8 till 1.45 (something of a record!) then 2am till 5 and he was wiiiiide awake!

@MrsEG, how did go with the aubergine today?? Your dog sounds like quite the little cleaner 😂

Hope everyone has had a nice day? We went to my parents for lasagne and Joe had some mashed potatoes, carrot and broccoli as my mum makes her lasagne very rich with quite a bit of salty cheese and red wine... It's da bomb, but would probably give him poonamis for days so we played it safe! He decided to skip a nap but was good as gold, just sat in his high chair watching everyone. Fell asleep in the car on the way wy back so dh drove us around for a bit.

@purplefig @cupcakesandglitter @MrsH497 @LikeTheFruit @thumper59 @stormtrooperjulian hope you're all OK this weekend? Sorry I've probably missed people off!
