I hope someone can give me some advice please.
I've been ebf my seven month old and from six months began to wean her. While in the early stages of weaning I noticed she got a rash around her mouth, hives and also a cough when I gave her porridge or anything with milk in the ingredients so I assumed she had a milk allergy. When looking at allergies in babies on NHS website it says a common thing is that they may have a rash which looks like eczma which she has had for a while and never disappeared despite trying different creams on her.
I spoke to the doctor who told me to go to the health visitor. When I got hold of the health visitor she told me that the dietician is fully booked for 6 months so there's no point in referring me on and to wean my dd on fruit and veg for the time being. She also recommended an hrs course they have available and will provide me with the details once it's running online (not heard anything back about this so I will chase this week). HV also referred me onto doctor for milk as I want to start switching to formula as I'll be going back to work in the coming months.
Has anyone had any experience of this and what happens e.g is there a test she should be having to check that she is infact allergic to milk or dairy and anything else or is it just trial and error when bringing in new foods for her to try? I'm thinking of going back to HV to request more information as to when I should start introducing other foods other than fruit and veg - I know until the age of one milk is most important but I want to try to give DD a range of foods to taste
Any advice would be appreciated. :)
