So I have had two children. First baby, I ended up with a c section, tried to breastfeed but has tolls to give up after 10 days due to my baby loosing weight. Second baby, I didn’t try to breastfeed at all due to the stress I went through when I stopped BF the first time. My milk came in, then seemingly dried up. Occasionally I would get a shooting pain in one of my boobs, I’d give it a massage, milk would spurt out, and it would feel better.
This seemed to stop after a year! But it’s suddenly started again the past two days!!
I’ve not BF in over 4 years. Why am I lactating?!

You may have high prolactin levels, these can be caused by stress or a prolactinoma (or other things I'm sure). I had this before I was even pregnant and it lead to diagnosis of a prolactinoma. I was put on a tablet called Cabergoline which sorted it all out :)

@Kennylou12 thank you. I got to the bottom of it. I am on fluoxetine for ppd and apparently a (rare) side effect is lactation!
