Hello.

I'm wondering if anyone happy to share what it was like giving birth in hospital these past few weeks? Like did you get to have a birth partner? Pain relief like epidural availability? General feel of the ward and whether you felt like the staff had enough time for you? Good to know what area of the country you're reporting about.

We've been TTC our second child and although having trouble it would be nice to know what the current hospital environment is like in advance.

Many thanks for any replies 😊

I had my little boy 4 weeks ago and the hospital were amazing! I was induced due to pre eclampsia and there were plenty of staff on hand in labour ward. I got an epidural even though I really didn't want one and it didn't work but they came really quickly once it was decided I was having one. Around 10mins or so. I had consultants in with me as baby became distressed and they were brilliant in delivering him quickly and safely. My partner was able to be with me from start to finish apart from overnight on post natal ward. Postnatal ward weren't as helpful but I understand they were very busy and under staffed but overall very good experience esp as first baby.

I had my little boy on 7th April. Was induced due to ivf at 40+2. DH has to drop me at hospital and couldn’t stay. He could come back once in established labour. Pessary in at 11am waters went at 1am. DH called at 2am baby born at 6am. Vaginal delivery but third degree tear so e fed up in theatre for repair. DH had baby whilst this was happening. He could stay until 12pm when I was moved to recovery ward.

Staff were absolutely amazing. So kind caring and considerate. Acutely aware that ladies didn’t have partner and went out if way to look after us. Midwife took baby whilst I had a shower etc. We stayed overnight due to surgery then discharged late on 8th. Midwife helped us to door and DH picked us up from there. My experience was very positive and I hope yours is too
