8 week old loose nappies?

Hi all
My little boy is exactly 2 months old today and is Formula fed (Aptamil). He's gaining weight really well (12lb at last HV check 2 weeks ago from 8lb 14 at birth) but over the past few weeks his nappies have been really loose. I mean really loose in that if we don't catch him going and get him straight on the changing mat then it explodes out the sides and up the back of the nappy. I mentioned to HV at last appt but al she seemed concerned about was it being yellow in colour (which it is). He's only going once (maybe twice) a day. Is this normal for an Aptamil fed baby??
Thanks!

Have you tried changing the brand of nappies you are using?

My baby would do this, not every time he went though.

If you are concerned book to see gp.

Going to sound gross but does it look like a jar of korma?

If so I'd say it's normal and agree with op make a nappy brand change or even size up?

If you are worried though ring gp x

al she seemed concerned about was it being yellow in colour (which it is)

Did she say why she was concerned about it ? What does she think may be causing it ?

For what it's worth my son drank aptamil and never had explosive/yellow nappies. I don't think this has anything to do with formula, especially if he didn't use to have this before. Unless you transitioned to bottlefeeding at the same time these issues started ?

Did you change anything ? Are the nappies the right size ? Are the nappies actually loose on him, or the poop so liquid or abundant that it leaks ?

If the nappies are loose despite good weight gain, just go down one size.

If the problem is with the poop being abundant/liquid/radioactive in colour, he may have got some sort of bug. Does he have any other symptoms ? Fever ? Vomiting ? Fussiness, trouble sleeping ? How long has this been going on ?

I'd ask your HV about why she was concerned about the colour and phone your GP if possible. I called my son's doctor because I was worried he hadn't pooped in a couple of days and they reassured me quickly it was normal.

Going 1-2 a day seems on the higher end of average, I wouldn't worry about that.

Thanks everyone.
@Marphise - sorry I think I confused things re the HV. She was basically saying as long as it was yellow in colour it was fine.

He's generally absolutely fine, happy contented little boy and doesn't seem to be distressed in any way. We only recently went up to size 2 nappies and they seem to be a good fit. It is indeed very korma in appearance.
