15month old suddenly refusing EBF

I’ve been EBF my 15 month old and yesterday he has just decided enough is enough and is not interested anymore. Also yesterday I got my first period since becoming pregnant (I don’t know if this is a confidence).

I know we’ve done so well doing it for so long but I feel so upset it’s just suddenly ended. I’m engorged and hormonal! Do I just let my boobs continue to be engorged, will they dry up etc? Not sure what to do!

Coincidence

I'm not sure about breasts but want to say although you're feeling it all now, as an outsider I think it's amazing you've breastfed so long and lovely they have stopped firmly on their terms (have known three year olds very upset as the mums are trying to wean them). You'll look back and be glad it was all baby led and what's best for them!

Sounds very sudden. Is he teething? Have a read about nursing strikes on kellymom/la Leche league. Sorry I don't know how to link.
Getting your period can cause a temporary dip in your supply but that doesn't sound like what you're experiencing.
You may like to join the Facebook group 'breastfeeding older babies and beyond' which I've found really helpful.

Feeding strikes are common. Do you have a pump?

Thanks all! I think it was a bout of teething and 2 days later he decided he wanted breast milk again and we are still going strong!

Great you still have that special bond and are feeding but by that age your child needs food as well. So maybe it’s time to mix things up a bit ?

mostly I think OP means extended rather than exclusively breastfeeding.

Yes he is definitely eating food! Just doesn’t have bottled milk just mine once in the morning and one at night.

Aaaaah understood - sorry I thought you meant he doesn’t have anything else at all. Mine is 16 months and the amount he eats shocks me sometimes haha! Good luck hope it was just a blip!!
