Just putting this on in case anyone wants to catch up? We're all at different stages, so might be able to help each other out?

@Delilah7 @RanchoRelaxo @MrsR16 @thumper59 @trashkitten10 @Bostonfern @crossfitgirl sorry I know I'm missing people, I'm blaming newborn brain!

I'll leave the link on the 'pregnancy' catching up thread xxx

@Fivebyfive2 ahh look at his trophy 😂 love the babygrow too 🥰 we've not got Dina any yet, DH was saying the villa shop sell pink ones? So I have a feeling she'll have some later in the year 😂 erm that man sounds bloody weird!! Sorry he made you feel so uncomfortable, god knows what he wanted.

@MrsR16 might be worth contacting and letting them know! I don't get anything either thinking about it, only ever DH 🤦🏻‍♀️

@thumper59 that's exactly how I see it, one day she won't want to so for now I'll hold her whenever she needs me to (and if she doesn't 😂) oh poor Freddie, has he been any better since?

@ELW85 IIRC the nurse was saying it can take babies two weeks to settle after jabs, I wonder if that's what it is? Also the heat definitely doesn't help, they sleep more when it's hot and try to preserve more energy - we keep the fan on, open windows in her nursery and strip her down to just her best to keep her more alert, that way she only sleeps when she's actually tired... maybe try that out?

@MrsEG it's the cutest isn't it!! My camera roll is full of her 😂 I'm watching the videos while she's asleep on me 😂😂 ahhh how cute that they're laughing 😭 I'm glad the jabs went well, sounds like they're staying successful with their night sleeping? Win for you!!

Dina forced herself awake for four hours last night 🙄 finally managed to get her to sleep and she knocked out from 11.30 to around 5, and then slept in my bed since 😂 i bathed her, she then SCREAMS when I'm dressing her, she'll feed and usually falls asleep a bit but yesterday she slept for maybe five minutes and woke up, staying awake until 11.30... does anyone have any advice? She's going through her leap and was cluster feeding but I can't stop her being so upset when we're dressing her after her bath 😔 desperately trying to get her to be more chilled in the evenings but I can't get it 100% right and it's leaving me exhausted. Any advice would be much appreciated 😓

Fivebyfive2 · 30/05/2020 12:54

@ELW85, might still be the jabs and the weather, I'm sure he'll perk up soon!

@MrsEG, oh god yeah I can only imagine all the old dears wanting to snoop in on your boys! Hope you have a better night tonight. Ooo we've been looking at paddling pools and a little tent because our garden doesn't have much shade unless it's the evening!

@cupcakesandglitter, yep they do pink stuff at the villa shop, even little dresses! My sympathies for your night, I can relate.... If she gets worked up after the bath, can you try maybe doing a bath in the day and just a massage or something at night? We had to bin off night baths, it was too stressful to get the timing right, settling him back down etc.

Not sure if it's the weather or Joe is having a moment but ooh my god he is sooo hard to settle the past couple of days! Happy as Larry until he is tired but then he absolutely fights it, even in the pram it takes ages!! Hoping he settles down soon, it is exhausting. He enjoyed his bath today though 😀 Pics from our morning walk and post bath!

@MrsEG @cupcakesandglitter @Fivebyfive2 - thanks guys, it’s definitely been since his jabs, but the heat could be a factor too. He was just in his nappy last night and a vest today but he’s still sparked out.
Sometimes he’ll wake up crying if he’s still tired. I’ve messaged the HV but hopefully by Monday he’ll have snapped out of it!

@cupcakesandglitter - Finn used to be like that so we distract him with lullabies in the background and constantly talking to him. He quite enjoys a bath now so it does get easier. Have you tried skin to skin before dressing her and then keeping her wrapped up as you put a nappy on etc?
Finn also did what you described when he was in leap 2, waking up after 5 mins. I basically had to restart the settling process every time but he snapped out if it after about a week. There was one low point at 4am when he was wide awake and looking at me thinking it was playtime with an “ah-goo” that I nearly cried. He did just go back to normal though!
Do you still wake for feeds? I’m curious how long Finn would sleep uninterrupted so toying with the idea of trying it tonight.

@Fivebyfive2 - oh god, Joe sounds like Finn last week! I’d just get him settled then time for a feed again. I sound awful for saying this but this young baby stuff is stressful! I’m sure he’ll settle soon. Is he going through a leap?

@MrsEG - the weather is ridiculous isn’t it? I’m pleased the jabs went relatively well for the boys!

ELW85 · 30/05/2020 13:27

@Fivebyfive2 - forgot to say, he looks so adorable in those photos!

MrsEG · 30/05/2020 13:54

@cupcakesandglitter Conor used to scream after his bath - we got a slumber buddy for their room and put that on now so when we go in to dry and dress him he’s just staring at the ceiling at the stars! He almost always screams coming out of the bath though. But settles much faster now!

@Fivebyfive2 Ah yeah we have a tent too! We had them outside most of the day yesterday. I was so busy fussing over them though that of course I ended up sunburnt so keeping in the shade today haha!

@ELW85 Are you still waking for feeds on the advice of the doctors? I only ask as once the boys had regained birth weight and at next weigh in stayed on the same centile, we were told to stop. And I noticed a great difference in them - they were much hungrier for their feeds!! I felt they filled up much more in the day.

Got the gruesome twosome up early from their nap just now - I think the heat is getting to them!! At least they’re cute!

ELW85 · 30/05/2020 14:25

@MrsEG - oh my lord they’re gorgeous!! Finn was crying so I’ve put him in a rocker and he’s now preoccupied! Maybe I’m holding him too much and he’s bored?!
The docs haven’t mentioned anything; I just keep waking him up every 3 hours as I thought I had to. Whoops!! Is it ok to stop at 9 weeks? That would be amazing!?

ELW85 · 30/05/2020 14:26

A rare waking photo of Finn-pop just for the craic! He’s on 50th centile for weight now and you can totally tell. Little chunk!!

cupcakesandglitter · 30/05/2020 14:42

@Fivebyfive2 ahh what a cutie 🥰 dresses?! I won't tell DH just yet, he'll get too excited 😂 do you think it might be the heat with Joe? Or is he just even more alert? I think I may have to switch to daytime baths, it'd be easier to settle her afterwards and I'd be more awake to feed for however long she needs so I may try that out Thankyou!

@ELW85 have you tried a white noise machine or anything similar? I've used a couple from the baby+ app and sometimes that's worked? I've tried all of those 😔 I just can't get it right, it's the only time she sobs her heart out and I hate watching it - she'll stop as soon as I feed her but I can't then take her off to dress her and she'd get too cold. I'll give the daytime baths a try with a massage at night I think! That's exactly like Dina, having to completely start from scratch every time she's awake, she's not drowsy it's like she snaps herself back out of it every time. Sounds like it's just the leap though so will just ride this out! I don't wake for feeds, haven't done for a couple of weeks now, she seems to be fine without - some nights she'll stir but feeds for maybe a couple of mins and goes back to sleep so I think she'll be okay. The first night I didn't wake to feed I just stayed up watching her 😂 but I'd definitely give it a go with Finn, especially if he's still tired when he's up? He might sleep for that bit longer and you'll have a longer rest too!

@MrsEG oh god how cute are they!! They're growing so fast 😭 I've been wanting to get something like that for nighttime so I'll look into one, I think she's a bit bored - she only ever falls asleep at night in our arms so would like to try and see if she'd settle herself staring at them, thankyou!!

cupcakesandglitter · 30/05/2020 14:43

@ELW85 omg what a cutie!!! He's gorgeous 😭

ELW85 · 30/05/2020 15:38

@cupcakesandglitter - he’s definitely got my pout, haha!
Ah I’m sorry I couldn’t be any help. It’s definitely just the leap though and good to know they are similar therefore pretty normal! You’ve got this 💝
I’ve got a white noise loop on my phone but will have to check those on the app out!

I’ve just had a horrible thought; when I’m rocking Finn to get him to sleep, what if he’s crying Venus reflux is hurting him? Urgh, I don’t want him to be in pain or associate naps with pain. Awful. This medicine better kick in soon.

Fivebyfive2 · 30/05/2020 20:23

@ELW85, Finn looks like fine little gent 😀 I'm not sure with leaps, I never got to grips with tracking them as they didn't seem to tally up; I know it said to go with his due date, not his birth date, but when one didn't match, I'd check the other and would end up confused 😕

@cupcakesandglitter, I bet your dh would love to get Dina in a Villa dress! I think with Joe it's a mix at the moment - the heat, being super alert and... Some absolute twat on our street who is constantly revving his sodding motor bike 😡 Grrrr!!

@MrsEG, followed your lead and purchased a tent that has a little paddling pool but in the middle, I'm so excited for it to arrive!!!

So... Had a tough day with naps but Joe has been asleep since 6.30 (god knows what tonight will be like!) aaaaand... We've had our first absolute full on laugh from him!! I'm talking proper 'ha ha haaaa' he sounded like Jimmy Carr 😂 Dh got emotional! I think it's Joe's way of making up for the sleep nightmare...

OP posts:
ELW85 · 31/05/2020 09:23

@Fivebyfive2 - ah your laugh from Joe sounds amazing! I hope you had a good night?
We had the worst night ever with Finn since he was a newborn. He didn’t sleep for any longer than a 3 hour burst and wouldn’t go back down.
I’m shattered. I wonder if I’ve messed up his circadian rhythm with waking him for feeds until now.

Fivebyfive2 · 31/05/2020 10:48

@ELW85, Joe often has nights of waking every 2 to 3 hours even now. He does do longer stretches too, but I'm not surprised when I check the clock and see it's only been 2 hours! Last night was a prime example - slept 6.30 till midnight, then up at 12, 2 (both short wakes) then 4 till 4.30 and up for the day at 6.30.

OP posts:
ELW85 · 31/05/2020 11:40

@Fivebyfive2 - ah no that sounds tough! Are you ok?
I think I keep putting pressure on myself by reading stupid articles “your baby should be napping 3 times a day now and sleeping for 5 hour stretches” like ok, that sounds freaking amazing. How do I magic that one up???
The leaps haven’t been an exact science for us either.

@cupcakesandglitter - what time do you put Dina down for the night and how long does she sleep, if you don’t mind me asking? Curious about when her last nap is in proximity to bed time!!

Finn was boobed to sleep in desperation this morning. Is that bad? Asking for a friend😂

Fivebyfive2 · 31/05/2020 12:09

@ELW85, Joe is still very frequently boobed to sleep! I've stopped reading stuff like that, it was making me too anxious! Now I just go with the flow, enjoy the good days/nights and remind myself on the bad ones that it will pass/settle down. I'm probably too laid back really 😂

OP posts:
MrsEG · 31/05/2020 12:57

@ELW85 We stopped waking for feeds at 5 weeks old and then just let them settle in to their own rhythm for a bit, they quickly started going 3.5-4 hours between feeds and then I kinda started sleep/feed training a bit then at 9ish weeks (I think! It already seems so hazy!) I’d have left them in a rhythm more really if I didn’t have twins but needed them to be on the same pattern if that makes sense. We still have days sometimes where they get out of sync even by half an hour and it buggers up the whole day!!
He may have had a bad night if you weren’t waking him and he’s just finding his feet with his own hunger etc!
Don’t read all that crap babies aren’t robots and they don’t all do the same thing! I have two VERY different boys who can attest to that ha!

@cupcakesandglitter we love our slumber buddy, one of the best baby things we bought!

@Fivebyfive2 Ah I think we have a similar tent with the wee pool bit! Ours is for the beach though so you have to dig a hole in the sand to fill it with water. If we EVER get to a beach this summer!

Anyone have a baby who hates the pram? conor has never really enjoyed being in it much but recently he just screams when he's in there. I am
praying that its just a phase!
Boys are napping at the mo so just getting the paddling pool ready for a wee splash when they wake up!

Fivebyfive2 · 31/05/2020 13:49

@MrsEG, yes that is the one we've ordered! Joe likes the pram, but soon we'll be converting it to a buggy, so we'll see how that goes! I might have to have a look at these slumber buddies, they sound good?!

Hi ladies. Sorry I've been so rubbish on keeping up! Charlotte is 2 weeks old (nearer 3 now 😂) feeding is getting a bit easier we do a formula or breast milk bottle as her last feed at the moment as she seems super hungry/thirsty. Had a couple of really unsettled nights but I think it was heat related.

I'm so glad DH is off he's been so good helping me emotionally as well as physically. Hopefully the infection has gone now and I can slowly get myself feeling a bit more comfortable and like my old self. The hormones and emotional moments still catch me off guard!

I still worry if she's getting enough milk/sleeping too much/too hot/too cold but guess that's being a mum!

Hope you're all well xx

ELW85 · 31/05/2020 18:40

@Fivebyfive2 @MrsEG - thanks both, I think I do need to relax a bit more and just go with it tbh but the weight loss and reflux thing has really got me on edge, where I’m wondering what the next issue will be and I just want him to be happy and healthy.
I’m sure I’ll get there and he’s going to develop just fine...but can we fast forward to him being 4 and cute and able to communicate?! 😂

@MrsH497 - I would have been lost without DH. I’m dreading him going back to work tomorrow.

cupcakesandglitter · 31/05/2020 21:59

@ELW85 how's he getting on with the meds? My sympathies with the waking - Dina can wake every hour or so sometimes!! I'm bloody exhausted. Oh I don't mind at all - I'll be honest and say there's no set time! The last couple of days we've been bringing her up when she's shattered around 6/7 but then she wakes up shortly after and we're doing it all again. We can bring her upstairs anytime from 6-11 really, we don't know when she'll nap or when she'll feed because she does either when she feels like it 😞 id like to have more of a routine but she seems happyish as she is so I don't want to force her into anything right now. It's really hard to get right 😞 oh and she's pretty much always fed to sleep, it's a totally normal thing to do and it's comforting for them, don't worry about it 😊

@Fivebyfive2 we've got one on our road too - absolute idiot, can hear it clearly with the windows closed!! Ahh how amazing he's laughing! I bet it's the best sound in the world 😭 how's he been with naps today?

@MrsH497 ahhh she's beautiful! Glad your infection has gone - I don't think the worrying ever ends but you're right, it's just being a mum 😂 I couldn't imagine not having DH around atm, glad yours is supporting you well x

ELW85 · 01/06/2020 07:36

Morning all

So we didn’t wake him for feeds last night and his first stretch he managed nearly 5 hours!
He had a nap from 6-8 that we woke him from to do his nappy and one last feed. Not sure if that was the right thing to do or not?
He had so much energy at about 3am when I was trying to get him down after his 2 hour stint; I’m exhausted!

@cupcakesandglitter - he’s currently refusing the meds. It’s an absolute nightmare. It must taste awful to him.
Ah ok, we did that approach too! So would you wake her as I did to start her nighttime sleep if you like or let her sleep through? I worry about these long naps in the 6pm region of the night!
@MrsEG - resident sleep expert - any advice hugely welcomed!!

Fivebyfive2 · 01/06/2020 10:23

@ELW85, we had a similar night; Joe once again slept 6.30 till midnight, was up at 2 and then wiiiiide awake at 4.30 till 6.30 when he finally fed to sleep.

Somebody send help! And chocolate 🍫😂 He is bright as a button today somehow, trying to crawl and chattering away. Seeing my parents in the garden later, so excited!

OP posts:
ELW85 · 01/06/2020 10:44

@Fivebyfive2 -oh God! That was basically my night!! Why do they think 4am is playtime?!

Ah have a lovely time with your parents! Finn’s sun hat and lotion has arrived so I’m going to attempt the same!

MrsH497 · 01/06/2020 14:44

There must've been something in the air!
Charlotte wouldn't go to sleep until about 2:30 having woken up a midnight. Slept till just gone 6 then struggled to get her back down again. I'm exhausted!
She's feeding lots today and thankfully has been asleep since about 1:30 so I have managed to shower

ELW85 · 01/06/2020 15:38

@MrsH497 - must be the weather! Finn only had a cat nap instead of his lunchtime couple of hours do he’d been manic today!
