Elkie it is scary at first, I think the first time you do anything on your own is scary. But think how good you'll feel once you have done it yourself!! And you will be able to do it!

Thanks for comments cd, elkie, spb. Feeling abit better now I've had a big rant - slightly nervous about having put it all on a public forum but sure it'll be fine. If its not then hey-ho, I might enjoy a good argument!!

Am playing with name changes was feeling bored of mine and left out but dont like being someone completely different iyswim. Have great one planned for next week!!

UnderPesha · 31/08/2007 13:54

Do you think its clear that its meant to sound like under pressure and not that im some conquest of peshas?!?

elkiedee · 31/08/2007 14:06

ROFL, yes, I understood your wordplay how you meant it. I love that song, one of my favourites by either Queen or David Bowie.

So far today D's been no trouble at all, though if that changes I'll probably go out for a walk somewhere local, in fact I should probably do that anyway even if I can't be bothered to go further than the library. Only problem right now is that I've had to move well back from desk to stop him banging his head against it when he wriggles. Ow!

oooggs · 31/08/2007 14:06

hi pesh - families eh

ds1 and I have just errected the 2nd tripp trapp and converted the 1st one into a highchair - so cute - will photo them in them later,

welcome bubbsy & Joshua

I am 33 (feel 83) and DH 36, we have ds1 James 3.7 and Erin & Jack (dt's - dear twins) 22 weeks - just 5 mths and I am shattered

UnderPesha · 31/08/2007 14:16

Sorry bubbsy HELLLOOOO!!!! Welcome

I am 28 and was lying in bed the other day and suddenly realised that that means I am 30 next year (birthday in november) and I really hadn't realised, spent about 10 minutes trying to make sure that that was right and questioning it in my head as I thought I had another couple of years left yet. I cannot believe it! Its freaked me out!! I blame Dylan completely because its being pg and having him that has made the time slip by without me noticing.

Sorry anyway, I'm 28, dp 27 , dd 6, ds1 4 and ds2 nearly 19 weeks.

oooggs · 31/08/2007 14:16

it was a year ago yesterday that we found out it was twins 8 week scan cos I was so poorly

UnderPesha · 31/08/2007 14:20

Sorry forgot this -

Hi oooggs - cant believe they're 5 months already. Is it just me or is everything really flying past at the moment?

My mum gave me £100 to get some baby bits including a decent highchair but we have spent it all on other stuff so no highchair still Will have to start saving I think!

elkiedee · 31/08/2007 14:44

Pesha, how about just trying asking on Freecycle? Set up a separate yahoo address that your relatives won't recognise at all if that bothers you (as I gather your sil uses freecycle). You never know, someone might have finished with a highchair. Guess we might need one soon - what stage do babies need to have got to in terms of being able to sit up?

UnderPesha · 31/08/2007 14:51

Problem is elkie my mum will be expecting to see a highchair that looks like it cost best part of £100!!

We should actually be getting some backdated tax credits soon so fingers crossed that'll do it

nappynuttynormabutty · 31/08/2007 15:00

UnderPesha - I got your name too!!! at your family (maybe they won the lottery ...i doubt it...) I'd be p'd off too.

Elkie - You will be fine tonight, as scary as it seems. Do something easy food-wise and just concentrate on D.

Had a nice meet-up and talked nappies lots

geordiemacminx · 31/08/2007 15:10

hey ladies

StealthPolarBear · 31/08/2007 15:46

hi gmm and everyone else
had a voucher for £5 off tesco.com, was going to get a baby walker and I've lost it so very with myself!

StealthPolarBear · 31/08/2007 15:47

I keep searching the thread for 'katy' to see where I'm up to, and wonder why it doesn't work

runnyhabbit · 31/08/2007 15:47

hello

maveta · 31/08/2007 15:57

Hi everyone and thanks for the continued thoughts etc. for my dad. Believe me I know horoscopes are a load of twaddle..it´s just one of those stupid things that sticks in your head.

Well they´ve discharged him on condition he goes straight back in if there´s any change in his weight/breathing/strength or basically anything. He´s not seeing the surgeon for about 2 weeks and hope he will have the operation(s) within the month. We have to wait to talk to the surgeon for more info but they made it pretty clear that the operation is risky for him and they can´t really guarantee that it will actually improve his overall health however he HAS to have the operation because if he doesn´t he definitely won´t last long (in the doctor´s words ´not days or weeks but...´ I´m not sure what came after the ´...´). I know I´m sounding very dry about all this but it´s the only way I can think about it. They say his heart is very weak and that in the last 6 months it has worsened very considerably and they don´t know why.

I think it´s actually quite bad.

runnyhabbit · 31/08/2007 16:03

one handed typing, so please excuse typos

V pee'd off with boss

Instead of pay going into bank account today, I have received a chq in post. Which not only means my pay is late (by time it clears) but I've got to go into town to pay it in

I know he's annoyed with me cos he tried telling me that I'm only entitled to 26wks SMP. Didn't like when I told him it was 39, and he found out I was right. Its a shame really cos we used to get on v well. I'm seeing another side to him now.

runnyhabbit · 31/08/2007 16:07

maveta - so, so sorry to hear about your dad. I can't imagine what you're all going through, We're here for you x

nappynuttynormabutty · 31/08/2007 16:10

Maveta - (((hugs))), we're all thinking of you x

RH - at your boss...I hope you told him that he's liable for any fees you occur as a result of your pay being late .

elkiedee · 31/08/2007 16:11

Maveta, thinking of you.

elkiedee · 31/08/2007 16:24

And Runny, that's outrageous. Particularly rough when pay day falls on Friday. Hope it's not going to stuff things up for you with the bank.

runnyhabbit · 31/08/2007 16:28

Luckily I've got money in the account. Last month he sent a cheque, but also included a note explaining that online banking wasn't working, hence sending a chq. No note this time.

elkiedee · 31/08/2007 16:35

dp's mum fell over and is apparently covered in blood. The hospital think it may be her angina or a heart attack - seems a bit vague - I actually rang dp back saying hang on, you told me what you needed to do and when you might get a train but not about her health!

She was about to take clothes to the laundrette and needs him to buy her some clean knickers and get some other clothes from the flat. I also suggested checking out M&S rather than some cheap and nasty place dp had found which didn't even sound cheaper than Marks.

My parents are in their 60s but both have partners, good health and ok income and are still able to help look after me, physically, emotionally, financially - but dp has to look after his mum and help her out, and I still find that a deeply scary part of "growing up".

StealthPolarBear · 31/08/2007 17:14

maveta and elkie sorry to hear that
maveta, hope the operation is soon (sounds like it will be) and that it improves things for him
elkie, when are you expecting to hear from dp again? Will he call tonight? is he staying at hospital?

elkiedee · 31/08/2007 17:57

No, dp says he's coming back to London tonight. He can't drive btw (epilepsy) so this is all by public transport.

And D has had a nappy change and a feed and is still tearful - it's that time of evening actually - so I have to think about doing the stuff that dp has been home for every night by myself. I should eat something then try to put him to bed.

StealthPolarBear · 31/08/2007 18:25

Is there anything that soothes him? Music/TV? Pram?
