Couldnt see a post natal group so have taken it upon myself to start one! Will obviously still keep up on antenatal also until babies have all arrived!

Shall we start a list of arrivals?

Hmm So I think i put mine in around the same time as you maybe 1 week later. Not heard a jot!

IVEgottheDECAF · 26/09/2019 11:33

I kept phoning. They might just have got sick of me. I had a rant at one poor woman Blush

@Puglover88 how are the nappies going?
Thinking of you and your weigh in @Exitstrategist !

DustyDoorframes · 26/09/2019 11:35

I only sent my MA form on Saturday. I'm basically hoping it will come in time to cover Xmas...

IVEgottheDECAF · 26/09/2019 11:40

Fingers crossed dusty!

@DustyDoorframes nappies are now ok however we’re in hospital now until at least Saturday. Sophie had some fast jerky movements in the night that worried me so the paediatrician came and did some observations. They’re not sure if it’s a problem or not but they’re keeping her in for observation. They took some blood which showed a possible marker of infection so she’s on a course of antibiotics whilst they send the bloods off for further testing which will take two days. They don’t seem hugely concerned as she’s had mostly normal observations but they want to be thorough and rule out anything. I’m so tired of all the worry now though. Feels like one thing after another at the moment and I’m desperate to get her home safe and sound 😔

Puglover88 · 26/09/2019 12:02

@Stroan sorry I missed your earlier message, I’m only catching bits and pieces on the thread. Physically my recovery is going ok thanks - I’m much more mobile today, although my uterus is still very tender and heavy and I still look preggers!

How is the grunting baby situation? I hope it’s gotten better and you’re not being disturbed by it as much. It’s a good idea to record it to get the HV to check - I’m sure it’s just one of those weird yet normal new baby things though!

DustyDoorframes · 26/09/2019 12:10

Oh @Puglover88 so much worry! Are you able to rest much in hospital? V glad the nappies are back on track anyway!!!! Thanks

Exitstrategist · 26/09/2019 12:47

Delighted I stuck with my intuition- she has gained 80g in two days! No need for top ups- I’m so relieved. Thank you everyone for your support/it helped me toughen it out.

Exitstrategist · 26/09/2019 12:50

Re maternity allowance. It took 7 weeks exactly- never got through on phone- hopeless. It was backdated though.

DustyDoorframes · 26/09/2019 14:02

Woot @Exitstrategist ! Brilliant news!

Horehound · 26/09/2019 15:07

And do they actually send a letter or does the money just appear?!

I actually have been paid last month and this month from my employer..full pay.
This shouldn't have happened because I wasn't entitled to their maternity package and I'd even taken annual leave 1 week of August and then the other 3 weeks were to be maternity leave so I should have only had 1 week of annual leave paid.
Now I've received a 2nd full month wage Confused
I know they have a right to take the money back but I'm kind of hoping it's a mistake they don't notice!! I can't even see payslips because they are emailed to us and I can't log on to my work laptop cause if forgotten the password!! Argh

IVEgottheDECAF · 26/09/2019 15:12

Re mat allowance i had a text first, then a letter, money the week after the letter

@exitstrategist that's great weight gain well done!

HV came to weigh twins today to make sure they are both finally over 3kg.
Erin is now 7lb1 and Alex is 8lb9. He's bigger than my DS1 was at this stage which is crazy.
I'm wondering when I can start to spread feeds out overnight to 4hours. HV just said not yet, and I'm guessing I'll need to wait til Erin is a bit bigger, but how do you know when to stop waking them?!

Exitstrategist · 26/09/2019 16:11

Maternity allowance- got the letter after seven weeks confirming I was entitled to it and saying the amount which would be in my bank account a few days later. I get it around the 12th of the month

April88 · 26/09/2019 17:08

@boodles101 that’s interesting the Hv said that. I had a NICU nurse come out and weigh Jacob for 5 weeks once he was out of NICU and the final weigh in she did he was 6lb 4 at 7 weeks. She said I was fine to not wake him 3 hourly any more (he still pretty much feeds 3 hourly, occasionally 4). I got him weighed the week after I did this and he was 7lb 1 so knew we’d be ok to carry on

Geegrl19 · 27/09/2019 06:16

Great to hear @Exitstrategist!

Bathed little one today. Looked super cute in his shark towel. Then I heard a massive wet fart and he'd shat in his towel, how delightful! Was scared to unwrap him.

Ironically for someone who screams each time his nappy is changed, he loves being bathed. Go figure Hmm

IVEgottheDECAF · 27/09/2019 07:55

All of my babies have liked baths when tiny! I think its the warm water probably like being back in mums tum!

boodles101 · 27/09/2019 09:25

That's interesting April88 how much does Jacob feed during the day? Or is he bf?

April88 · 27/09/2019 10:04

@boodles101 he currently has 90ml roughly
3 hourly but sometimes less in the day time. Probably going to try him on 4 ounces soon but have to be careful that he doesn’t have too much then just throws it all up! What are the twins having?

Stroan · 27/09/2019 11:14

I have a water baby, even though he hates being naked. As long as we cover his tummy with a facecloth, he is happy in the bath. But he LOVES the shower. He gets this totally blissed out little look on his face.

boodles101 · 27/09/2019 11:41

April88 I've just moved them up to 4oz, dunno what that is in ml. Alex will drink it all, Erin probably has about 3.5oz. think I will start to leave them longer at night then.

Hello,

I am a mum of two teenagers and have been re-training at the Tavistock and Portman for three years. I am now a student at the Birkbeck where I hope to qualify. For the first year of my Msc in Child and Adolescent Psycotherapy, I need to observe a young baby (two weeks old max) for a year. This is a well established course and forms a part of the training for psychodynamic psychotherapy.

I am looking for a family living in West London that would like to take part. It would involve weekly visits for an hour to be held in the family home. The purpose of this is for me to learn about a growing baby from birth to up to one year. This is confidential and totally non-judgemental.

I am also a school counsellor on placement for Place2Be and I am DBS checked.

If you are interested then please contact me for further information or to arrange a brief meeting.

Thank you!

Paula :-)

@boodles101 I would and then just get them weighed the following week to see. You can always go back to 3 hourly if necessary.
