New thread for our incessant chatter!

Olihan · 22/08/2007 16:31

Eek, FGS, horrible situation to be in. Glad dd1 is okay, A&E sucks though, doesn't it?

Olihan · 22/08/2007 16:32

Oops, also meant to say, well done Jabber, think you've done the right thing. No point working your arse off if the money makes little or no difference imo!

weirdbird · 22/08/2007 17:34

AGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I hate DIY

Ahem..

Jabber, it sounds like you are making the right decision, you will find the money from somewhere or tighten your belts a bit for a while.

Do you think you will look for another job or just be at home for a bit?

I am off to see Hairspray tonight as it is my BF's Birthday, will be the first time I have left DD2 for so long as she is at MiL most of today while we destroy the bathroom.

wb, enjoy hairspray, I can't wait to go!
jabber, I'm sure this is a decision you won't regret, the stress just ain't worth it [hug]
fgs, amazing what can happen to lo's, how worrying for you, hope all is well now
indith, what's happening?
margo, has lactulose helped (I remember taking gallons of it after both births, urgghhhh) yet? It's horrible seeing them in discomfort and you can't explain to them, isn't it?
Oli, yes we did gaze at each other and them with supreme smugness last night!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 22/08/2007 20:24

wb - hope hairspray is great,

yes, a&e does suck but to put it into context DD is fine. Our 2 hour delay was because a little girl (about 18 months I'd say) had been scalded from her hip down to her toes. The blisters from the burns had formed already and they wrapped her in clingfilm the moment she came in. She screamed for ages. Poor mite.

It made me terribly thankful that DD was ok. Then I thought of little Hester. I wonder how she is doing...Hopefully well.

Olihan · 22/08/2007 20:29

FGS, there's lots of people I miss from the A/N threads but I do think of Mardybum and Hester quite regularly. I really hope things are still looking as positive as they were when MB last posted.

DH went baclk to work today so I'm back to weekday single mum status again . I actually really hate it and just want him to be here all the time.

Damn, dd and ds2 have both started crying....

weirdbird · 22/08/2007 23:22

Am back, Hairspray was just genius, John Travolta as the mum was just brilliant.

It was sooo nice to go out and just be me, not anyones mum, havnt laughed so much in ages and completely forgot about everything for a couple of hours, highly recommend it!

We do seem to have lost quite a few in the cross over from AN to PN don't we, does anyone ever see them posting still?

FGS - Hope your DD1 is feeling better this evening!

Have come home to discover Hannah didn't want to settle without me but refuse to feel guilty..

weirdbird · 22/08/2007 23:33

Mardy if you are still around, would love to know how you are? xxx

OP posts:
jabberwocky · 23/08/2007 03:00

Thanks everyone I've still got a day to a day and a half a week to fall back on so I'm not freaking out yet

FGS, hope your little dd is recovering nicely. What a scare

wb - I adore John Travolta, can't wait to see hairspray.

oli, I don't know how you do it all week. Is this a permanent job thing?

I was just thinking of Mardy and little Hester, too. I hope things are going OK.

Olihan · 23/08/2007 08:26

Jabber, it's until July08, so not too long really, in the scheme of things. It was a choice we made when we decided to move up north - dh has a course to finish at his current school (part of a MEd) but we didn't want to lose the house up here as it was the only one that we liked, could afford and was in the right village that we'd seen in the 3 years we were looking. The payoff is that dh will be able to get an Assistant Principal posistion in a school up here for next Sept rather than moving sideways. Neither of us realised quite how hard it would be though.

WB, ds2 won't settle while I'm out either so I have to time going out so he's already in bed or know he'll still be up when I get back - monkeys aren't they!

babypowder · 23/08/2007 10:19

Indith, did you see your doc?

accessorizewithbabysick · 23/08/2007 12:45

Oli, sounds an awfully long time to me I must admit but in the long term you'll be living in a village you really like and dh will have a good job. I think if we thought about how hard things would be (e.g. having children!) we'd never do it!
ds2 has (suspected) chicken pox. Just the one spot (can they really have it with one spot?) but he's not too happy with it. He screamed on and off for 3 hours last night so I kicked dp onto the futon and ds2 and I retired to bed. Cue ds2 waking up and deciding it was fun-time! Did it again at 5.30am. dp offered to come home for the afternoon but as he's having feeds every hour or so I'd rather be with him as it seems to make him feel better.

accessorizewithbabysick · 23/08/2007 12:46

oh, meant to say nursery wouldn't take him (I didn't actually ask them to, wouldn't put him in when he's this unhappy). I rang gp and they said see a pharmacist, don't bring a sick baby in here! I saw a pharmacist friend yesterday when spot was just spot and she said no cp so I don't know!

Olihan · 23/08/2007 14:21

AQ, it seems a long time to me too, if I'm honest. But it's broken up into 8 week chunks then dh gets 2 weeks off so I only have to get to the middle of Oct on this run, then it's half term, then until the Xmas hols, and so on. So it's not an endless year. That's the advantage of being married to a teacher, I guess - plenty of time off. It will be worth it though, after all, we'll be staying here forever now.

Poor ds2. Didn't Indith's ds have 'one spot cp' a while ago, can't remember if it tuned into the full blown thing though. I don't know how sucseptible (sp?) they are if they're still bfing a lot. I know someone told me if they get it before a year then they tend not to get the proper version and may well get it again. None of mine have had it yet despite being in the middle of several epidemics. I wonder when they're saving it up for......

Just going to show ds1 the emoticons, he's intriged!

accessorizewithbabysick · 23/08/2007 14:29

Good idea, oli, must show ds1 as well! He's obsessed enough with the computer as it is tho' . ds2 having a decent nap now, he's been fighting sleep but he must be exhausted poor thing as he was up for so much of last night. Think he's given it to his little girlfriend yesterday as now she's poorly, I feel so guilty, wouldn't have gone to play if I knew it was cp (although is it ?)
Is your dh coming back at weekends as well, Olihan, surely you don't have 8 entire weeks all on your lonesome? Any family nearby? I know you've prob. explained this all before several times, I have the memory of a gnat both online and in RL!

Olihan · 23/08/2007 15:47

Dh is back at w/ends and the odd Weds eve, depending on teaching commitments. MIL and PIL are just round the corner and are fab at helping. unfortunately the don't sleep here or do the 5am starts . But, no, I'm not completely alone. Think if I was we'd be moving into dh's 1 bed flat!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 23/08/2007 17:17

It is hard when you are on your own. My DH has been away most of the last month. He gets back tomorrow night though

I dont want to jinx anything but DD2 has slept 12 hours straight for 3 of the last 4 nights. Amazing. She has also dropped a nap and is (except for today) having 2 naps. One at about 10ish for 30 mins and then another at 1ish for about an hour. Today we're all over the place and she is sleeping now as fell asleep in the car so god knows what time she'll get to bed

accessorizewithbabysick · 23/08/2007 20:45

That sleeping sounds fab, fgs! Hope it continues tonight.
Had lost track that you were also a 5am starter, Oli arrggggh on your behalf. Castles, do your 3 still get up then? (and btw, castles did you get sorted with ergo instructions as I can loan you mine & the dvd if you want, but I think you posted about this aaaages ago and I'm so behind)
ds2 still only one-spot boy. No screaming as yet

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 23/08/2007 20:46

aq - lactulose worrked like a dream. no pain and only one dose. I hope this means she wom't get constipated again. I am going to avoid wheat and give her porridge in the mornings.

It's dhs birthday tomorrow so we will be off to the cinema tomorrow too

Oli - It's horrible when you don't have dh in the week. dh and I will only share one day off together this bh weekend

jabberwocky · 24/08/2007 02:17

bananas are constipating too, err, we've had more experience with this than I would like lately....

oli, the sleeping sounds great and i'm glad there is a light at the end of the tunnel with dh being away.

Indith, how are you????

Olihan · 24/08/2007 06:59

OMG, for the last 2 nights ds2 has only woken ONCE after I've gone to bed. Last night he went from 7 until midnight then midnight to 5:45. He's still quite restless for the first couple of hours after he goes to bed but I don't mind that, as long as he sleeps once I'm in bed!

FGS, big congrats on the 12 hours, I;ve given up hoping for that .

babypowder · 24/08/2007 15:07

OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! Finally had my mirena fitted today. I knew things were going to be bad when the consultant said 'we're just going to clip an anchor onto your cervix.'

Typically, my blood pressure has now fallen through the floor, and I'm feeling sick and dizzy. Shame I couldn't get DH to agree to abstinence

jabberwocky · 24/08/2007 15:24

eeeek! I was considering this until I read about the ouchy insertion. I can be a real wimp sometimes. I'm thinking of trying the ring.

Is anyone else still losing hair? Mine didn't really start falling out much until a few months ago and now it's everywhere! I think with ds1 it fell out until he was between a year and a year and a half

No AF here, either. Not upset about that at all Any company in that regard?

jabberwocky · 24/08/2007 15:25

OK, I'm starting to fret about Indith.

babypowder · 24/08/2007 17:40

INDITH Are you OK ?? We're worried about you.

Jabber, on the bright side, now that my blood pressure has recovered, I'm feeling fine. No ongoing pain, no cramps, nothing.

My periods haven't returned either, thank god, and with the mirena installed, I may not get another one until 2012 How fab is that
