Indith · 13/09/2007 20:48

Did you miss that bit Oli? It was discussed on here when it happened Just fell out during a period, was replacing my mooncup, felt something odd up there and voila. Some people say it can happen with using a mooncup too but not sure if it does actually affect it.

Naps....the 'norm' as in after a good night is an hour in the morning about 2 hours after waking and a half hour ot an hour in the afternoon around 2pm. If he doesn't sleep at night though then the naps don't happen either.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 13/09/2007 20:49

we have 2-3 naps a day. normally 30 mins in the morning and 40-60 in the afternoon.

I dropped DDs afternoon breastfeed the other day. She is now having morning and bedtime breastfeeds and a very small amount of cow's milk in the afternoon. Mainly to get her used to it tbh. She would rather have food.

Olihan · 13/09/2007 20:57

I must have missed it Indith, it's not the sort of thing I'd forget in a hurry (unlike the location of my car keys/handbag/children/purse/life ). Have you kept it?!

Sacha, I'm a mid week single mum too, it's not too bad when you get used to it. How long til you move or does it depend on selling your current house?

Cheers for the nap stuff, I'm just trying to work out (ha ha, as if) what's going on with ds2's sleep. He has a couple of hours on the morning, around 9/10am then half an hour or so about 3pm then bed at 6:30. So not masses, I don't think. Gah, he's just a horror at sleeping.

magnolia74 · 13/09/2007 20:59

Wow, lots to catch up on.
Sacha, good luck with the moving. I can understand the b/f thing and am desperate to wear decent tops but want to b/f for a while yet so am going to splach out on some sexy Elle Mcpherson nursing bra's.
Margo, I do hope your dd gets better quickly.
Dd4 has been poorly too and has a urine infection, antibiotics didn't help at 1st so another test is being done and maybe ultrasound investigations

Well, we aren't using contaception and we are not abstaining but using the withdrawal method I know with 5 kids you would think I would be petrefied of another but if I'm honest I wouldn't mind!

Indith · 13/09/2007 21:00

Ewww no!

SachaF · 13/09/2007 21:01

Well, house is sold, and dh is living in his parents so we will go there and put stuff in storage - life will be 'in limbo' yet again when we have to move out of here!
Plus I need to apply for a job....would be much easier if we didn't move but a) dh would be unhappy and b) we discussed doing this move sometime in the future, I just thought at least I would be going back to my old job for a while!
Kinda nice not having to be considerate of anyone else and only having to clear up after only 1 man half the week although OBVIOUSLY I miss dh

magnolia74 · 13/09/2007 21:01

Ds1 has 1.5 hrs 9.45-11.15am and an hour at 3.30-4.30pm. Bed anywhere between 7.30 and 8.30pm but he is teething again and a nightmare to get to sleep

Olihan · 13/09/2007 21:09

I'm hoping this current awful spell is down to teeth, Mags, but it's been going on for over a fortnight now and there's no sign of any teeth, or even white bumps - just gums. And apart from a lot of dribble he has no other signs either.

The worst part is, he's generally restless until I go to bed at 10/11pm ish then he sleeps til about 1am but refuses to go back to sleep for a couple of hours, then sleeps til 6/7am. I'd rather he was up for 15 mins every 3 hours, like he used to, than this.

Olihan · 13/09/2007 21:12

Yup, couldn't agree more, Sacha and not having to watch the rugby/football/car progs/scary films or being nagged about MNing all evening!

Right, we're going away first thing tomorrow morning and I need to do some packing. If you see me on here again, feel free to kick my butt .

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 13/09/2007 21:19

aw, Magnolia -dd2 was given co-amoxiclav as amoxicillin didn't work. It's the 2nd day of the new abs and she has improved again. gp is very pleased with her.

SachaF - We've lived with my parents for 4 months. I've certainly appreciated living here while we have all been ill.

accessorizewithbabysick · 13/09/2007 21:45

margo, really great that dd's feeling better again, she's really been thru the wars hasn't she?
Indith & Oli's ds's - what are you doing! Start sleeping....
DS2 has no routine with his naps, he had 3 hours at nursery on Monday and then 2x 40 mins on Tuesday. 4 teeth now, but no biting so far.
FGS I'm relieved to hear that mine not the only one dropping a feed (he's down to 3, but refused anything between 8 and 6 today!) I thought it was a bit unusual as ds1 was still having loads of bottles at 9 months.
at magnolia not minding about no.6!!!!
Re: bf bras, I rediscoverd my underwire Anita nursing bra - very comfy and uplifting. I'm in heaven!!! Can thoroughly recommend. All of my winter tops are tight and I mean buxom barmaid tight.

magnolia74 · 13/09/2007 21:48

AQ, how much of the anita bra shows under strappy tops?

FunkyGlassSlipper · 13/09/2007 21:51

AQ - DD1 still has a big milk am and pm and she s 3.5 so a bit of a surprise that DD2 ist too bothered.

accessorizewithbabysick · 13/09/2007 22:02

magnolia, it's this one here. The straps aren't too wide, not as bad as my freya one, but I don't actually wear strappy tops with my bingo arms so I don't know!
fgs, ds1 would be doing the same, but I banned milk drinks cos he's so constipated all the time. He lurrrves his milk. I'm finding it a bit weird ds2 going off milk now, after thinking about giving up last week. Did he read my mind?

Gloria42 · 13/09/2007 22:04

Hey guys, so far so good on home-alone front. Am about to go to bed with a good book - so sad I know, but there's no wine in the house!
Been keeping myself busy and poor DS has a cold, constantly sneezing and runny nose but nothing too bad. House smells of Olbas oil which is quite nice.
TBH think am stressed out in general which was making me nervous. Return to work is looming and the whole lumpy food/finger food is stressing me out too, spending each meal waitign for him to gag/puke is NOT enjoyable! DS is doing great, it's just me worrying that's the problem!

babypowder · 13/09/2007 22:32

Dear lord, I've only been away a few hours ...

Castles, DH had an interview yesterday in Ipswich. He didn't think it went well, but who knows.

Jabber, glad DS1 is doing well at school. Sorry he isn't doing so well at home

Oli, DD2 has a nap around 10am for about 15 mins, then again around 2pm for about 30 mins. She might sometimes drop off when I walk up to get her sister from school.

Sacha, absolutely agree about disposables when they're poorly. It's impossible to keep up with the washing, and poor DD1 would have had to go commando if I hadn't had a pack lying around from holidays.

Gloria, hope you have a lovely night.

We still have no teeth. And DD2 continues to breastfeed whenever she damn well likes.

Off to get out clothes for tomorrow. Thanks FGS, my life has been transformed!

Olihan · 13/09/2007 22:48

Ooer, I'm liking the look of that bra, AQ. I've been wearing the underwired bf one from Blooming Marvellous for months now but it's very boring wearing the same style of bra day in, day out. Haven't got time to link to it but the straps are about 1.5cm wide.

jabberwocky · 14/09/2007 03:06

Well, the g&t helped my feelings and ds1 came back from his outing with dh in a much more pleasant frame of mind.

With the sleeping, I have a confession to make - most of the time dh is sleeping in the bedroom where ds2's crib is and I'm sleeping upstairs Every time I sleep in the same room with him he gradually reverts from waking once for 15 min to waking at least twice and sometimes being up for over an hour We've gone to straight formula at night in an effort to show him that it's not worth his effort to wake up.

Naps - usually one to two hours in the morning and then 30 to 45 minutes in the afternoon. Bed around 8:00. I keep trying to move it up but ds1 gets ds2 so excited in the evening that I find it difficult to get him to settle down.

Bfing is still on demand - my mother is starting to lecture me on weaning, ffs. I mean, she didn't nurse any of us so I'm rather taking offense at the whole thing. Of course, I'm also a bit edgy lately...

Contraception - condoms It seems so teenager-ish but it works and I just can't decide on anything else atm.

Congrats on the good news with houses and jobs!

I'm leaving at 6:00 am tomorrow for continuing education and will have my first time away from ds2 I usually really look forward to this weekend but I'm afraid I'm going to be missing him soooo much.

Will check in on you all Monday. Have a great weekend and thanks for all the sympathy with ds1!

Indith · 14/09/2007 19:49

I have allowed a thread on MN to seriously piss me off for the first time. How dare they call anyone on benefits fag smoking scumbags who would just smoke away benefits intended for their wellbeing and that of their children while simultaneously saying that if they were to get the same benefits they would spend it on an ipod because they already do everything in the world perfectly!

On the plus side ds slept much better last night, just screamed at me for some unknown reason for 20mins at around 9.30 then woke for a feed at 3.15 before sleeping til 7! Tonight he proved that his appetite is back by demolishing half a nectarine, a huge portion of spag bol and most of an adult sized yoghurt.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 14/09/2007 20:00

Forget about all the frenzied judgements on other threads or you'll tear your hear out.

BP - glad I have transformed your life

DD2 now on 2 feeds a day although bedtime is quite quick. Morning goes on for 30mins though which I dont mind as I do it in bed

babypowder · 14/09/2007 22:26

Absolutely agree about ignoring opinions on other threads. That way madness lies.

Have I mentioned how all those other women scare me

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 15/09/2007 00:10

I've been able to wear an ordinary bra during the day now I've cut down on the b/f, I don't look so saggy now (lol)

I'm so glad I found the Dec 06 gang, there's never any rows, just lot's of support, even off the topic of our Dec babies.

DD1 - getting better daily

DD2 - 2 top teeth, pulling herself up on the furniture and she's really fed up that she can't crawl!

I have no idea of when she naps, but I am grateful of any quiet time I have.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 15/09/2007 10:05

Did I really say tear your hear out? . I think I have DH and DDs virus. I'm cold, feel sick, achy, tired

babypowder · 15/09/2007 11:52

FGS, sorry you're not feeling well. try to get some rest.

weirdbird · 15/09/2007 13:19

I think the equally as worrying I didnt notice!!

Hope you had a good night sleep!

I am feeling sore but a lot more flexible having been to the Osteopath this morning, Hannah pulling herself upright on my hands had made my shoulders do bad things..

Am in the middle of NCT NNS madness here, its next weekend and am too busy sorting out publicity to actually start sorting out the things I want to sell, but tonight I will get the box down from the loft!
