Thought I'd start a thread to give somewhere for Jem, Washersaurus and Bresha to discuss their little ones and make all those of us waiting impatiently jealous!

Who will be next??????

my2weegirls · 10/10/2007 12:25

i love all the photos! what gorgeous august babies we made!

my hair is really falling out now (forgot about this post natal joy!) keep finding my hair wrapped round DD2s bottle or half in her mouth, on her face etc.....

we had a better night last night DD1 went to sleep after 5 min of sceaming and slept from 8.30 till 5.45am and DD2 slept from 8pm till 2am (then up at 5am) but 6 hours in a row!!!!

uki - i'm really hoping DD1 sttles soon that's us 9 weeks on so fingers crossed all the attention seeking stops soon

GillL · 10/10/2007 13:11

Hersetta - I can hardly keep up with the washing as it is. I'm sure I must do at least 10 loads per week and now the weather is not so good it's difficult to get it dry. I really don't like tumble drying anything other than underwear and towels. I started off tumble drying dd's clothes but found they shrunk.

Thanks katybird. She really loves him and when she's upset she always wants to hug him and says 'I want my baby'.

my2weegirls - I'm expecting to have trouble with dd when we take away her bottles in a couple of weeks' time. She's 2.6 yrs now so it's about time but bottles of milk are normally a quick fix when she wakes up in the middle of the night or early morning. Gets her back to sleep in no time.

Hersetta · 10/10/2007 16:48

TT - it seems we're destined never to meet up!!

Probably have more opportunities though as we'll be going to Spain every 2 months or even more frequently from now on.

Gill - I know what you mean. When it was just DH and me, I used to do two lots of washing a week. Now it seems I do at least 5/6. How can one small person create so much washing?

My DH will probably say from throwing up all over daddy's clean sweatshirts twice in one day !!

shrinkingsagpuss · 11/10/2007 08:29

Hello TT - thought we'd lost you! how's it all going..?

On the subject of washing.. try adding in cotton nappies!!

I went shopping yesterday at |Bluewaer.. lovely. Evie was well behaved, and i bought some nice new clothes with my birthday money.

Got 6 week check today.. apparently the reason my tummy stretched so badly is because the muscle wall had never joined back up after DS - therefore as soon as LO started growing, it all ust went to pot. Not sure wha the next step is, but i have a very funny shaped tummy!

kiteflying · 11/10/2007 14:09

Hi everyone and big wave to TT. I have spent twenty minutes trying to catch up on everyone's news and have got to 6 September so before my sweet creature Isabel wakes for her 2pm feed and finds herself in a cafe in her pram I just wanted to thank everyone that left congratulations at the end of August when katybird was kind enough to let you know of our arrival. Thanks also tp those who posted after I shared my story a week ago. Glad I was not the only one who was disappointed in a perfectly reasonable natural delivery - I have been feeling so guilty about it.
Annie - how odd that your LO also had the panicky moments Isabel did. I was convinced she was just surprised and frightened but we trooped off to the hospital when a helpful midwife said we should in case it was fits(throwing us into panic.)
Everyone's photos are lovely. Can't wait to see the rest. Did no-one's babies emerge red and blotchy like mine did? They all look so angelic.

GillL · 11/10/2007 15:24

Ds is still suffering with his cold and cough. He wouldn't settle in his cot after his feed at 3am, even with the mattress raised to lift his head and sufflebabe on his babygrow. I had to have him in the bed with me for the first time since he was about 2 weeks old.

It was good that I got up at 3 though. Our cat, who had been missing for 4 days, returned home last night. She must have been trapped somewhere cos she virtually inhaled 2 pouches of food and wanted more when dh went downstairs an hour later. We're so relieved to have her back. We'd resigned ourselves to never seeing her again. We lost a cat a few years ago and he was run over so we assumed the same thing had happened to this one.

shrinkingsagpuss · 11/10/2007 15:24

Well the 6 week check was a waste of time and v stressful! I booked my check for 10.10, fine, GP not really all that interested. Said I might need surgery to correct my tummy to prevent a hernia - but she said wait a couple more months to see how it heals. Happy days. Check for baby was due at 10.50, we got i about 11.45 bywhich time DS was losing the plot, I was lsign the plot, DD was starving and tired, and we got the trainee GP. She was lovely, but very slow!!! We got out eventually about 12.15, and DS has refused to sleep. The ony saving grace is that Evie is sparko, and has been since 1.00!!

Health visitor rang and asked if I wanted a visit, as I had explained my home situ to the GP. She told me she thought I sounded like one of lifes copers and that everyone has rough patches, and that I would be fine. oh well thats good then.

shrinkingsagpuss · 11/10/2007 15:28

by the way how do I link my old profile to my new name? everyone else seems to have managed it?

GillL - sorry your DS is still poorly. Babe's with colds are not much fun. Evie was v lucky and didn't get it too bad, but just listenning to them snuffling and grunting is awful. Evie came in with me at 5.30, after her 5.00 feed she wasn't itnerested in settling, and seeing as I don't get any snuggles from DH right now I figured I might as well cuddle her. . He doesn't even bother to come and say goodnight propoerly somenights.

GillL · 11/10/2007 16:10

I think everyone's come to the same conclusion that post natal checks are a waste of time. I remember my first one after dd was very thorough with an internal exam and smear test.

It helped ds to have him in the bathroom when I had my shower. Cleared his nose up nicely. Might have to try the same before he goes to bed tonight.

Should we sort out this rl meet up? Anyone else in the south east want to join us? Will offer my house if not too many people. Would be much easier and more comfortable than meeting in public. Just have to excuse the mess.

shrinkingsagpuss · 12/10/2007 11:43

Hello?

are we all lurking and just too shy to post? I think not. I think we are up to our earrs in nappies, vomit, toddlers and ironing.

Off to sunny Lancs (oh JOY) tomorrow... plotting ways of getting away from out laws so we can watch rugby in the evening (why do all norhterners watch football?)..... have a nice week

GillL · 12/10/2007 13:38

It is a bit quiet. I'm glad it's Friday as dh will do the night feed. Last night I put ds asleep in his cot at 10:45 and went to bed at 11:00. He kept sneezing and snorting and I'd just got to sleep at midnight when dd's Iggle Piggle toy started singing. She fell asleep cuddling it and must have lent on its tummy. I got to sleep after that but then dd woke up at 2:30 coughing and wanted to come in our bed. Ds didn't get up til 5am - typical. I hope he carries on sleeping that long. Maybe one night dd won't wake up and I'll get to take advantage of it.

Have a nice trip bagpuss.

Ineedsomesleep · 12/10/2007 16:14

Not lurking Shrinking, DD has only just settled. Normally she will sleep in the day for a while but today she just wanted Mummy. Oh b**er, now she's wanting mummy again!

pinkrangernowwobbles · 12/10/2007 17:55

same here, having a tough ride at the moment

Annie75 · 12/10/2007 18:04

I really thought I'd spend my maternity leave in cafes and shopping, baking, making tasty dinners and visiting loads of people and maybe working up An Amazing Business Idea which would leave me well-off and, more importantly, able to work from home with baby.

A-ha-a-ha-ha-ha...

BuggyMad2blue1pink · 12/10/2007 19:02

Hi ladies!

Has anyone's LO had there immunisation's yet? how were they afterwards? Connie had her's today made me cry, but now she is just sleeping lots and when she is awake she just really cry's, gave her some calpol, we'll see how we get on!? My post check was fine all is well, lost loads of weight and they are happy with both Connie and I! Back soon!!

BMxx

GillL · 12/10/2007 22:37

Wish I'd lost loads of weight buggymad. Finally got my Davina DVDs yesterday. One of them was the pregnancy and postnatal exercise DVD. I can't remember who it was who asked about what kind of exercise is recommended - anyway, it's very low impact (no jumping) and you have to be careful with sit ups. They showed you how to check how far apart the abdominal muscles were (I can describe if anyone's interested). If the gap is more than 2 fingers wide then you should support the muscles by placing your hands on your tummy.

I can't see me losing much weight with the postnatal exercises as it is mostly toning and there was no mention of when you can go back to normal exercise. Might put a post on somewhere to see if anyone knows.

Ineedsomesleep · 13/10/2007 15:41

I've put on weight if anything, well got fatter anyway. I did with DS but when he started weaning it started dropping off again so hopefully it will be the same this time.

mamamila · 14/10/2007 08:05

Pah! Weight? I haven't weighed myself for 2 weeks.. was still 12kgs extra then. But my belly has shrunk to about 4 months preg size now.. and I'm pleased with that! I sometimes remember to do the odd pelvic floor ex but haven't got onto anything more strenuous.

Here people are not famous for their tact and everywhere I go I'm greeted by "Oh how very very fat you are, etc.." but I don't really care. I haven't put on my new swimsuit yet as c-scar started bleeding a bit and on antibiotics last week so not good idea to swim in pool and no chance of baring bum/belly/thighs on the beach.

We're celebrating 4 days of Eid holiday after ramadhan here so it's presented perfect opportunity to dress lo in her fanciest dresses and show her off everywhere, I am very very proud

We have vaccinations tommorow too, be glad when they're over. Lo is still like velcro, only wants to be held won't sleep in the day unless in sling or arms. It's not bad though, we just get on with work etc and swap over when our backs start suffering.

Added new photos too!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 14/10/2007 10:59

Hi guys, hope everyone's ok!

Is anyone else's baby standing up (with help obviously) because James has been doing it for about a week now at every opportunity and although he seems to love it, I'm a bit worried because as yet he has little bandy legs and inward turned feet, worried it might give him permanent bandy legs or hurt his growing feet. Is that possible?

It's a surefire way to stop him crying though, because he LOVES showing off, we always cheer when he stands up and he does big gummy smiles, really pleased with himself! Typical leo here... does anyone else have a little show off?

Currently giving him about 75% formula, 25% breast, and feeling so much more relaxed now the pressure is off me! Not enjoying the way I suddenly have twice as much washing up though. My kingdom for a dishwasher!!!

Had an accident this week, was getting a bowl of scalding hot instant porridge out of the microwave, I slipped with the bowl and threw it all over myself, all over my arm, chest anf face! Then the bowl smashed on the floor and I stood on it, slicing my foot open! Not good. Luckily I managed to get enough water on my arm/eye to avoid a burn, but couldn't get any on my boob so I have a nasty little burn there. Foot is very sore too, ouch! Thank god James wasn't in the room.

Everyones pics are beautiful. I'll add a few recent ones too. Hope you're all having a nice weekend! xxx

Ineedsomesleep · 14/10/2007 18:20

Love the new photos ladies

Mamamila, I look about 4 months gone too. Not to worry eh.

James, the accident sounds terrible, hope your burn heals soon.

conkertree · 15/10/2007 12:05

morning everyone - that sounds very painful james - the sort of thing that would be funny if it wasnt sore.

annie - i had exactly the same thoughts - slight reality check since having ds though. we are getting out lots though but not getting to brush up my spanish which was my goal for maternity leave (other than baby related goals).

ds slept from 10.30 to 6.30 last night . longest he's slept so far. i did keep waking up and checking my watch as i was expecting him to wake sooner, but still had the best sleep since having him.

finally got all the thankyou cards for presents done as well. Anybody else starting to feel more in control and as if you can start getting some things back to normal?

also took ds swimming on friday - he loved it. was expecting to stay in for 10 mins or so but he didnt seem cold so stayed in for about 25 mins, and it was us that felt we should take him out rather than him crying or shivering. he was kicking his legs and grinning at people. will definately be taking him again soon.

and i know a lot of people have had problems with bf, but for me, its getting much easier now and i am really enjoying it.

hope everyone else is having a good time too.

conkertree · 15/10/2007 12:07

on the negative side - i do feel really fat but am determined to get that off by his christening which is 25th november as i'd like to wear something nice for that.

what are other people doing to get rid of the fat? think i will walk to kilsyth today which is about 1 1/2 miles away if i can think of something other than chocolate to buy when i get there.

dont want to do a severe diet as bfeeding and need the energy for ds anyway with or without the milk, but might try and cut down on biscuits etc.

loler · 15/10/2007 14:33

I read a book that said 9 months on 9 months off for baby weight. Found that it helps me to stop worrying about it. With the others I always have ended up lighter than I started, when they start moving the weight has just fallen off. Shame my saggy old skin and flabby muscles don't look after themselves too!

Was watching the wright show on Friday (had to I was feeding ) they were talking about how to tighten up tummy muscles and said doing the plank was the best thing - my sister who's a personal trainer (not a family thing!) concured. My sister told me this weekend that she's pg - I'm so excited and strangely broody (WHAT!!!!).

I've also found I've enjoyed BF much more than I thought I would. I've just bought myself a nursing necklace (a good excuse for a nice necklace).

Thank you's for gifts is on my very long to do list - aiming to do them before have to do the christmas ones.

stigofthedump · 15/10/2007 15:03

Hello folks

being boobooma and caitlinma is knackering in the extreme, especially for the back. We now have 3 slings to share the load on different muscles in our ageing creaky backs.

Great photos milamama, mila and the masai, could be a winner on cbeebies. James, love your photos too, priceless expressions.

I am looking about 4 months pregnant as well, tho I've lost all the weight (still have a stone and half left to lose from ds tho). Its not top of my list at the moment. Getting a bit more sleep is favourite. We're on the 2 hourly routine at the moment from about 3 or 4 am til bed time at 8pm. But then she goes til 12 or 1pm and then til 3 or 4. So what can you do, I am practising radical acceptance.

GillL · 15/10/2007 15:29

Mila is adorable mamamila and James is gorgeous banana.

conker - If anything I'm finding it more difficult to do normal things than before. Ds has had his cold for weeks and will not settle easily during the day. I'm struggling just to get 3oz into him every 2 hours and it's hard to find time to do anything in between. Sometimes I have to leave him to cry just to get his bottles washed and sterilised. For a while I was thinking how wonderful it would be to be a sahm and I was dreading going back to work (only 5 weeks to go) but recently work is looking more enticing. Ds gets more demanding the older he gets, despite my efforts to put him down on his play gym or bouncer as much as possible. Luckily he's a good sleeper at night on the whole.

Had to get out the 3-6 months babygrows and vests yesterday as ds has outgrown 0-3 already. He's still in 0-3 for everything else though but probably not for long. I'm going to get him weighed on Thursday. It wouldn't surprise me if he's around 14lb now as he was 12lb 7 1/2 oz a week and a half ago and he's been putting on at least 10oz per week. It's a bit of a shock having had a tiny dd. 0-3 didn't fit her til she was 3 months old. I got out her winter clothes from last winter last weekend and most of it still fits her.
