Tongue tie

Can anyone reassure me that the procedure to get a tongue tie corrected is simple and effective?
My daughter has one and we have been advised to discuss it at home. My partner is going to worry so I want to have positive info to share.
Thanks if anyone can help

Both my daughters were tongue tied, I had both of their ties snipped before Ieaving hospital because of feeding problems.

The procedure takes seconds, minimal crying and only a drop of blood on both occasions. It really wasn't as bad as I had imagined.

It resolved the feeding problems with one of my DDs, but not the other, as her problems turned out to be unrelated to the tie.

If I had another child with a tongue tie I'd definitely do the same again.

Congratulations on baby and good luck with your decision Smile

On the other hand, I'm tongue tied, as are my children, I don't know why none of us had it snipped but here we are and none of us have any issues or are affected by it (apart from it being some kind of weird party trick that people find fascinating Confused)

That's reassuring to read! They checked her at the hospital and said it didn't seem there was a tie and now the health visitor and breastfeeding consultant have looked and said there is right st the back and it's a little thick.
She has been a bit slow to get back to birth weight which is how this came up.
I'll be showing this to my partner to reassure him, thankyou Smile

Hi OP how old is your LG? Both my boys had tongue ties - ds1 was snipped at 9 weeks and ds2 at 5. The younger the better. But tbf it wasn't bad, both of them had a feed right after and calmed down in seconds. It did improve their latch and less wind etc so would recommend it.

She's 15 days and the waiting list is about 6 weeks. So would be around the same age when it would be done

Well I just googled it to make my point that it's perfectly safe and the first thing that came up was a report stating that it shouldn't necessarily be done 🤦🏻‍♀️. Now I've read that I've successfully stressed myself out when I was pretty certain earlier.
I can't tell if I'm overthinking or just being cautious lol.
