Morning all

Thank you so much for all your advice. A really strong part of me wants to trust my instincts and let him sleep on his tummy, but me and dh both have the "what if" in the back of our mind.

Even if he's been wrapped up in blanket, it seems like the crib we have in with us is too small for him. As soon as I lay him down in it, he stretches, his hands touch the sides, and that is what wakes him up. I've padded the sides of the crib, but didn't make any difference. J was exactly the same, so we put him in his cotbed (he was about 10wks old) and he did grizzle when he was first put down, but didn't wake up. Meant he could stretch without touching anything thing.

I think this is what we're going to have to try, but it means that we are going to have to clear out the spare room, so that J can have the single bed, and convert his cotbed back into the cot ready for W. The spare room needs painting and a new carpet, as well a sort out. Arghhh!!!

Can someone please arrange for some more hours in the day?

runnyhabbit · 14/06/2007 10:12

Dh is away too
Was away last night, and possibly away tonight. I love him to bits and it can't be nice eating on your own in a restaurant, but bless him, he has this knack of ringing just as I'm putting the lo's in the bath. Just for a chat. Because he's bored.

I would love to have the opportunity to be bored

Eddas · 14/06/2007 10:34

Oooo yes more hours in a day that'd be good

On monday night I actually was allowed to sleep for 8 whole hours consecutively!!!!! ds slept from 10 til 7(i went up at 11) Obviously this was a one off and have again been up the last 2 nights, but i felt so much better for the long sleep. Think it's the first time since I was pg as I was getting up to p!!

i've been at work the past 2 days and the house is now a tip. I have about 10 loads of washing how does that happen when there was only a couple of bits left from fridays manic washing session Ridiculous!

I've also got all of dd's old clothes piled up in ds's room waiting to be sorted, photo'd, then put on here for sale.

I have a MASSIVE pile of ironing and it's just gonna get bigger once today's washing is done>

Does it ever end??

Eddas · 14/06/2007 10:38

Delightful ds sitting on my lap having a poo

The joys of motherhood eh?!

Oh now he's been sick on my, again, so yet another day with sick covered clothes! So tell me again why there's so much washing

Oh yeah, everything gets worn once only then put in the wash, lol!!!!

Morning all,

Erin had her 8 week check today. Saw useless HV who said she was worried about Erin's weight gain...FFS the last dot was just above the 9th centile and this one was just below it (and I mean JUST below!)...no baby is gonna be exactly on the line. I just feel sorry for people who don't know any better. Also I had just asked her about bottle teats cos I've been thinking Erin might need a faster teat (she was on a 1mth teat at 4 days so now she's 2mths thought she might need the 3mth teat and it seems she does - feeding better today on them).

Then she was naughty for the doc. First she cried cos she wanted to sit looking in the other direction . Then she wouldn't lift her head for him so he said he wanted to see her in 2 weeks time. But when she sat on my knee while he filled the notes in she was holding her head up and having a good look round [grin so he said she obviously can do it and we don't need to go back.

Then she cried when she had the injections until we left the room when she just stopped crying and it hasn't bothered her since!!! Little imp

nuttygirl · 14/06/2007 12:15

RH & SOKL - sorry you're both missing DHs.

Eddas - ironing...what's that????

CB - sounds just like Erin, quite awake in the evening wanting to play (particularly when we're trying to eat our tea ) but she does sleep all night (8 hours every night - YAY!)

Sexonknackeredlegs · 14/06/2007 12:24

Afternoon ladies.

Runny, B used to wake herself up when she touched the sides of the cotbed as the bars would make a noise, so I put the bumpers along the side of the cot as opposed to at the top and bottom iyswim. Hope you get some rest soon anyway - could not cope with K even being in the same room as us.

Hi Eddas, yum, poo and sick - you lucky mummy!

I am about to put the third lot of washing in the machine! It doesn't help that with dh being 6 foot 4, all his clothes are HUGE, and take up so much space in the machine!

Nutty, glad Erin was ok with her jabs. K has hers on Tuesday and am dreading it, and then on Wednesday, B has hers! What a geat week!!

The HV's are useless. Mine asked if she thought I was overfeeding K, and then said, perhaps not, she is only on the 25th centile!

How much is Erin weighing?

geordiemacminx · 14/06/2007 12:25

morning ladies!!!

HV just been - Charlie is now 10lb 7oz, he's not 6 weeks til tomorrow!!!!

Sexonknackeredlegs · 14/06/2007 12:27

GMM, what a good weight bless him! Hope you are ok. x

nuttygirl · 14/06/2007 12:29

She's 9lb 1/2oz at 8+6 weeks. She seems to be following the 9th centile. I think the HV is worried cos the first two dots were midway between the 9th & 25th (and mathematically I think those two dots are irrelevant - the first one definitely is because she would lose some weight after the birth)

geordiemacminx · 14/06/2007 12:32

We are great

WO and I went to see Vio and baby james yesterday.. he is absolutely gorgeous, but very poorly.... made me realise how fortunate i am.

Katy44 · 14/06/2007 13:25

why does T not blink? is this normal?

nuttygirl · 14/06/2007 13:34

Katy would love to help but can't say I've noticed whether Erin blinks or not - I'm an unobservant mummy!!!

I spoke too soon about the jabs not affecting her, she's been screaming for a while and feeling hot so I've given her some calpol and cooled the injection site with some cool water on cotton wool. Think she's drifting off to sleep now

EllieK · 14/06/2007 13:57

Joe doesn't blink, my family find it hilarious

AAAAARGH! Finally managed to get laptop onto kitchen table so can finally log on while bf and finally post on here, only for it to start playing up and close down on me!! Am now on tip toes at PC on top of fridge(it's an old one so we can get a radio signal in the kitchen...) so excuse any typing mistakes and if ds2 wakes up for yet more food will need to go...

Anyway, managed to read some of the thread yesterday and was lovely to catch up and hear how everyone is doing. We are fine but there are just not enough hours in the day! I realised yesterday that I spend average of 2 hours a day going to/from school/nursery - took enough of the day before but when you add in a baby to feed the day is past before you know it... Then there's the washing which i'm hoping will slow down now that ds2 is not being sick so much. Have saved time not hanging it out the past few days since it has been raining so I can use drier without feeling guilty !

DS2 is a wee barrel - he was 12lb at his six week check and has definitely gained more since then so has been in 3-6 for a while (though his feet disappear in the trousers). DD and ds1 were heavier by this stage tho, can't imagine how huge they must have been! He is sleeping fairly well, about 11-4 on average - as long as he is fed nearly non-stop from 7 until bed - which is a bit wearing for me! We have been trying to get him to take some formula but only managing an ounce or two so far. I'm perservering though because couldn't get ds1 to take bottle of anything at all until 6 months and I had had enough not getting any time off by then! Any tips welcome...

So am relieved things going well and he is so happy, don't think I would have had the time to deal with anything else. The other two, dd especially, were not so easy as babies though, so every sympathy to those with sleeping/feeding/etc problems. I wish I'd used mn then for more help, it would have been so much easier or at least bearable!

I'll need to go and get organised for next school run now, but am hoping to pop in a bit more often now - can't believe it is 8 weeks already for us!
xxx

nellyhel · 14/06/2007 14:14

btw just to add I have had lots of totally crap days, been so exhausted I can't see straight and been ready to kick dh/dd/ds1 out, been really horrid mum, so it's not all been plain sailing ... Think I just know better how hard it can get this time, so it's all relative really..

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 14/06/2007 15:34

Just caught up while feeding P & have automatically forgotten everything everyone said .....

Oh well. Nearly finished the housework - wish I had time to do more than just a quick lick & polish ..... Sigh ......

DH is continuing on with the decorating - we're off out to B&Q to buy some paint in a mo ......

Exciting stuff ......

nuttygirl · 14/06/2007 15:35

Housework...we don't do that up here dippy!!!

Kneehighinnappies · 14/06/2007 15:46

Hello my darlings, how are we all doing?

Me I am completly knackered seems lola is going through a growth spurt and keeping everyone awake with it.
I was on last night moaning but got a bit pissed off with being put on a guilt trip for something I said to lola in the heat of the moment.
May be I am a bit to honest on here sometimes

I really hope you are all doing well, i am still working my arse off to get my work done by the end of the month.

I feel a bit guilty that the DT are not really getting any time from me I am even doing work while feeding them

A question is it bad for babies to spend time in swinging chairs, mine seem to spend ALOT of time in thier chairs during the day, I don't know weather this is a bad thing to be doing

Well it will be back to work for me soon so if anyone is about at the moment.................................

nuttygirl · 14/06/2007 15:53

Is a swinging chair the same as a bouncing chair?

oooggs · 14/06/2007 16:03

I don't think so nutty - Fisher Price do a chair which is shaped like a car seat but swings like a swing (batteries I think) twin mum are told they are a godsend I think that is what KHIN has got.

Hope all is well, no news here, they are 11 weeks today

nuttygirl · 14/06/2007 16:06

Oh I know what you mean now!

Kneehighinnappies · 14/06/2007 16:06

yeah they are the battery opperated ones. one swings side to side and the other back and forwards, i don't have them swinging all the time ut the babies do like to sit in them and fall asleep, so they spend most of the day asleep in them.

Hi oooogs hows it going? [waves ]

Kneehighinnappies · 14/06/2007 16:07

oh they have changed how you do links, thats why my waves is a bit odd it isn't actually a link.

maveta · 14/06/2007 16:12

All your babies sound so big! N was 9.5lbs at 5 weeks.. not had him weighed since..sounds like he´s quite a bit behind but they don´t talk about percentiles here so I don´t know. Also here he´s considered a really big baby (spanish babies generally seem really small) so all I hear is how big he is.. he is really long though, maybe that´s where it´s all going?

Got my size 2 bambineo´s in pistachio today..mmm.. so cute and fluffy, are drying on the line as I type. Also ordered some more diddy diapers to tide me over but I think (yet to be tested) he will actually be able to fit the bambineo´s already. Will be great saving if so.. will cancel the diddy diapers and buy some pocket nappies. am waiting for a fuzzi bunz to arrive, am hoping they live up to expectation cos I imagine they´d be great for change bag/ grandparents.. I LOVE NAPPY SHOPPING!!

Gmm.. send my thoughts to Vio, I can´t imagine what they are all going through x
