Awww...Ellie we all love you!!!! Loved the thread recap btw! And bless Matthew sounds a cutie!

Sexonknackeredlegs · 13/06/2007 17:46

Hi ladies

Lots of posts again you chatterboxes!

Mammyjo, just wanted to send you huge hugs.
Children can be really hurtful, and I hope your ds is ok.

Nutty, hope you are feeling less sick now.

CD, you sound much happier today hun. Hope diner is good.

Bramshott, good to see you. Haven't seen you for ages on here. We had loads of paperwork from school which needs to be completed. No idea when I'll find time to do that!

Runny, tbh, I think you should go with your instincts too. Tbh, I am rather in the dark about why lying babies on their front increases the risk of cot death. My brother and I slept on our fronts and gladly we survived. I can of course understand your dilema following the death of your niece .

Ange, v impressed with your bf achievement!

Have had a really good day with both dd's today, and K has been much happier. A bit fractious now, but that is normal for her.

Hope everyone is well. See you later.

xxxxxxx

Hi all. Thanks for all the messages
I had a chat with ds about the other boy after school today and he actually doesnt seem that bothered by it. I asked if it happens a lot or whether it was just once. He said it was just once so I do feel happier about that. He is always happy enough to go to school and has several nice friends so I am hoping it was just one of those playground things. Have decided to just let it go now as I dont really want to keep reminding ds of it either and making it into a big deal when perhaps he doesnt think of it like that IYKWIM.

Hope everyone is having a good day, and thanks again ladies xxxx

having a permanent clearout!!!!!

Have found a box of mothercare breast pads over half left.

Anyone want them, free to a good home

(did think of shoving a handful in each bra cup to make it look like I had boobs again, but decided against it )

Pesha · 13/06/2007 18:08

Have to say i would not feel happy for ds to sleep on his front, think theres alot of research on the increased risks but then i tend to follow most advice, within reason, on the grounds that if something did happen at least i could tell myself id done all i could rather than thinking if only. But it is a very personal thing and as CD said you have to go with your own instincts and what feels right for you. If its only his cot he wont sleep in could you try putting a blanket under him to make it more like his bean bag or something familiar smelling? if he falls asleep feeding lie him on a blanket then put him down on this so its still warm? Ive done this with all mine, i lie them on the quilt for the moses basket while lying in bed feeding them then when asleep transfer to moses basket so itsstill all warm and soft and familiar, really does make a difference, with mine anyway!

i've done that with Joe too Pesha, he fell asleep in my arms so i wrapped the blanket round him, then moved him to pram still wrapped up and he stayed asleep!

I also have lots of breast pads ooogs but mine are from 7years ago So far in 7 weeks of bf'ing i have used 2 breast pads, i have no spill boobs

EllieK · 13/06/2007 18:19

i bloody wish
mine are permantently leaking

OP posts:
Pesha · 13/06/2007 18:21

And added advantage of having them lying on something in bed with you is if they're sick/nappy leaks you dont have to change the bed sheets just get clean baby blanket

Pesha · 13/06/2007 18:23

Tis the only upside of me having just enough/not enough milk!

EllieK · 13/06/2007 18:23

sick? my baby doesn't do sick

until today at Eca's house

no slight on her house tho, tis lovely

email me your address ellie and you can have them. I am going to post office tomorrow to send ebay stuff.

I breastfed for 3 weeks and went through at least 6 every 24 hrs

mammyjo · 13/06/2007 18:29

I am still going through lots of breast pads too. Probably up to 10 some days due to lots of leakage ! Have been using the tesco ones which are cheap and I find them ok. Only cost about £4 for 80.
Runny, I personally wouldnt want to put dd on her front to sleep. Having said that, its easy for me to say, as she is happy to sleep on her back. Agree with Pesha with the "what if" thing really.
I always put a blanket or muslin under dd when she is on my bed as she quite often brings up a bit of milk with her wind, and sometimes that could be when she is lying down. Definitely easier to change that than the whole bed.

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 13/06/2007 19:05

Oooooh, breast pads - I ain't a "leaker" either ..... email me captain_dippy "at" yahoo "dot" co "dot" uk) & I'll happily send mine to whoever needs them - Have some washable pads too .....

EllieK · 13/06/2007 19:28

oooggs · 13/06/2007 19:40

Got your email Ellie
mammyjo - I have text you

liath · 13/06/2007 19:45

Runny, will he sleep beside you rather than on top of you? You must be knackered.

Me & my sisters all slept on our fronts because that was what was advised in the 1970s! Tricky nowadays - the chances of cot death are very low for any individual baby but I'd fret if I put ds on his front. He's not keen on sleeping in his cot either but at least will sleep tucked up beside me. Don't tell DH but I'm really enjoying co-sleeping and not in a huge rush to get ds into his cot. I think DH feels otherwise.....

eca · 13/06/2007 19:54

ellie - joe can come and be sick on my floor anytime!! !! He's a real cutie! And I'm sure the S-E meet up baby girls will be fighting over him

eca · 13/06/2007 19:57

runny, if you want to put W on his tummy, but are nervous (understandably because of dh's niece ) you could invest in one of those sensor pad monitors where the alarm goes off if they stop breathing. Probably would be able to pick one up 2nd hand. I read a few good reports on them on mn.

eca · 13/06/2007 20:04

Why has my boy given up sleeping in the day!!! PLEASE someone tell me it's a phase!!!!! Tried to do some cooking after Ellie left today and have only just switched the oven off!! And the kitchen looks like a bombsite and he's still crying now!!!

EllieK · 13/06/2007 20:09
