Exclusively breastfeeding and pregnant

I have just discovered that I am 5 weeks pregnant. I have a 26 week old son who has been exclusively breastfed from birth. He has recently started on solids to taste. The last couple of weeks his naps during the day have gone awry and I'm wondering if this is a developmental leap or down to a change in my milk? How will I know if he's getting enough?

You will just have to keep an eye on his behaviour and potentially his growth - if he is getting frustrated at the breast and/or still seems to be seeking more then your supply may have dropped. About 70% of women have a significant drop in milk supply at about 6 weeks pregnant.

Keep an eye on things but tbh, since your baby is only just starting on solids, you may have to consider supplementing with formula or donor milk. In the meantime I'd definitely start offering a cup of water occasionally in case he's thirsty.

Thanks so much. I'm pumping when he goes to bed so I can try to build up some reserves. Feeling very guilty 😩
