Donating breastmilk after stillbirth

Hi,
I am not really sure where to post this. I lost my son Arlo on the 3rd of this month. He was stillborn at 38 weeks. When I came round 12 hours after his birth I was given a tablet to stop my milk. However today after 14 days of wishing I hadn’t taken the medication so I could express and donate, I started leaking colostrum!!! It was only a small amount (I leaked ALOT from 20 weeks), now I am over the shock of it happening. I would love to donate Arlo’s milk in his memory and help sick babies. How and would I be able to up my supply now? Or is this just a one of cruel joke my boobs are playing. Any advice would be appreciated xx

I'm sorry for your loss and think this is a lovely idea.

You'd need to find a bank near to where you are, and policies on who can donate probably differ. They should also be able to advise If donating is likely to be possible for you. If you call a breastfeeding support group or nicu they should be able to give you details of one over the phone.

I am so truly sorry for your loss, as a Mum myself I cannot begin to imagine your pain. Arlo was lucky to be born to such a beautiful soul. Donating his milk is truly wonderful. I hope you are matched with some babies in need soon xx

You are stronger than I was when I lost my Freddie. It is a wonderful thing to do in Arlo's memory.
