Hi, couldn't find a June thread. Anyone?
Baby girl
Dob 19th
Born at 36 weeks
She is no longer just poop eat and sleep as she's staying awake longer. Tummy time = sleep or cry. Except once

My baby girl was born 20th June - also now having longer awake periods and the main one seems to be in the late evening between around 7:30-10:30ish. Are you in any kind of routine yet?

Embracethechaos · 23/07/2018 07:44

Some days I think we have a routine but the next day it's all sporadic again. Eg yesterday she had a longer sleep in the afternoon and was half asleep and feeding regularly the rest of the day. We'd like to do regular timed evening dog walks but we're not their yet. She falls asleep in her pram then when we get home we do a nappy change then a feed. I'm breast feeding on demand so it depends on how my boobs are feeling too. We've started doing Friday bath day and wiping her other days. She loved her Friday bath.

My baby is usually most awake during meal times. In hospital lunch was the main meal so now her awake times are sometimes a few hours at, lunch, dinner or both.

  • baby girl
  • born 29th June at 42 weeks via emergency c-section

Enjoys tummy time and hitting toys on the playmat.

Eats 4-5oz most feeds, Has slept from 10pm-6am twice in a row. Smile

dannuh · 24/07/2018 14:33

@Embracethechaos I'm also trying to do routine evening dog walks with no success as her evening feed changed each day

Embracethechaos · 24/07/2018 15:39

Downside of her dog pram walks is she sleeps so doesn't sleep though the night as she loves to be moving when sleeping. Bodes well for sleeping on long car journeys I'm the future though. I bought an electric pump at the weekend and expressed 4-5 onzes when baby was sleeping so proberly simular.

My LO born 5th June, was quite a low birth weight at 4lb 9 she is feeding every three hours or so.

It normally goes nappy change, feed she can usually take about 70ml in a feed and the burp and then sleep for about 2 hours.

We have no set routine yet, she’s still tiny at 7lb 10 at just over 7 weeks so I think she’s still eating like a new born.

Hoping in the next few weeks she will start having a bit more milk in each sitting and sleep for longer.

Sometimes she does not sleep and is having a lot more awake time between feeds which is nice, trying to get her to smile at the moment.

Really tired and can’t wait for a night when she sleeps through!

Xx

Hello, thanks for starting thread 😊
Baby girl born 16th June at 42 weeks by induction. Big baby 9lbs 9oz, pulled out by suction after 27 hours of contractions 😐

Very jealous of title 'eat, poop, sleep, repeat'... my poor LO has bad colic so the first 5 wks she literally only slept in 15-20 minute chunks with non-stop screaming for the rest of the day & night.

We've changed to an organic formula which has improved things a lot so in the last 2 nights we've been able to get her to sleep from 10pm - 1am, then fed at 1am, 3am, 5am, 7am... but at least it means there's chunks in between where we can sleep.

2good · 30/07/2018 08:13

Day time is much the same. Up until a few days ago I would spend the entire day just trying to comfort her, but now there's times I can go out for walks/coffee with her and she's settled enough

dannuh · 30/07/2018 10:20

@2good

After having an emergency c-section I'm only now able to go out for walks, It's nice to get out isn't it?

After a week of my LO (4weeks + 3) sleeping 9:30-7am she's started waking at 4am for a feed. I really can't complain though!

Embracethechaos · 30/07/2018 11:41

@2good my baby was nearly a forceps birth but I pushed her out in time. I was asked how my epidural was the following day by an anethitist (I said it was amazing) who has forceps on her notes. I don't know exactly when my labour started but was roughly 24 hours and I pushed her out, thankfully she has a head circumference of 33.3 cm and narrow shoulders so after the head just slithered out. We've moved away from eat. Slee poo repeat as she's got stronger and has a real screem on her if food doesn't come quick enough or I change her when she's hungry. I'm on quetalapaine for my mental health which is a sedative so I spent a bit longer in hospital as its a new med and it's effect around birth is pretty unknown. My meds were about to be increased before I gave birth prematurely so it took a while to get the dose right. I'm very fortunate to have my husband doing the night feed as he works in a school. I've been esspressing from day one when she started on mixed feeding. She used to have formula top up after every feed, then forumala only at night with my dh, after espressed formula. Some nights she doesn't need formula.

We're loving the cooler weather, tried out the rain cover for the oyster.

Can I join in? Smile
Baby boy born 21st June via emergency section.
Formula fed with whatever I get from expressing at 5pm and 9pm for as long as that let's. Bit worried I'm over feeding him as he's having nearly double what the guide says but he's a hungry boy! I'm demand feeding and he has anything from a 2oz top up to 5-6oz, no real pattern to feeding but it's about 35oz a day 😱 hope that's ok, I just think if he's hungry he needs milk! He was 10lb 2 when weighed a week and a half ago. Does anyone else's baby eat this much?!
He'll allow a little bit of tummy time and will lift head on us, has had very strong head control since day 1!
Now getting smiles and he's started enjoying his play mat or toys hanging from pram hood.

Embracethechaos · 30/07/2018 14:53

Welcome meow, can't help you with the feeding I'm afraid as my baby only has one or two bottles a day now. Maybe one for the health visitor? My baby enjoys knocking my glasses off my face, and playing with the handles of the moses basket, not shown much interest in actual toys, Grin

Yeah I'll ask when I see her on Thursday.

DS fave toy is a mirror- he stares at himself for ages completely enthralled 😅 can't say I blame him, he is absolutely gorgeous!!

2good · 30/07/2018 16:26

Hi dannuh yeah it's great being able to get out and about now that the weather has cooled down a bit. Also had episiotomy & infected stitches so wasn't able to walk for first 3 wks. She loves her walks in the pram or the sling and loves going in the car!

dannuh · 30/07/2018 20:32

@meow1989

Hi there!

My little one also eats a lot, each feed is 5oz 5 times a day and sometime 6oz before bed and she is now 10lbs 10 and is 4 weeks and 3 days old.

She's been enjoying hitting the toys on her playmat and tummy time, her neck muscles are strong for her age as well

Embracethechaos · 01/08/2018 08:24

Dd had a very long feed yesterday evening, awake for about 4 hours, then a 3sm bottle feed from dh now she's still asleep, dispite being changed and carried around. Was lovely that I could get myself up and ready and am now expressing as my boobs are pretty solid and I try to express in the morning for the night feed. I'm on quetalapaine for my mental health as I have complicated issues and sleep deprivation is a big trigger. It's a sedative so I do get my 6 hours but I didn't in the first week when my meds were being adjusted. I'm hoping to reduce my meds soon. I'm also loving the cooler weather.

Our LO took a bit of a turn for the worse, was awake straight through for over 48 hours and very upset as a result. Over the last few weeks we've had her at children's hospital, GP, health nurse, osteopath and a consultant. Finally diagnosed 'silent reflux' so she's been put on medication 3 times a day for it. Really hope it helps so she can start enjoying her little life 😊

Embracethechaos · 04/08/2018 20:36

That sounds stressful 2good. Has the medicine helped. I think my babys not slept for a while if she's awake about 4 hours?

OP posts:
2good · 05/08/2018 10:29

Hi embracethechaos we haven't seen any improvement yet and the medicine tastes so bad it makes her scream & cry even more than normal and is even harder to settle afterwards. I'm just hoping it starts helping soon!

Embracethechaos · 05/08/2018 16:40

2good, are you unable to breastfeed? I ask as my sister was sick with allergies and asthma as a baby during weaning at 3 months onto various formula milks. She could only digest breastmilk. In hospital my dd had formula top up due to jaundice but since coming home she's mainly breastmilk and she digests it much better (also she's older so maybe that's why her digestion has improved too). She did have explosive poos every feed, and reflux. My dh is a pro burper, he was a colicky baby dispite being breastfed. Lots of position changes, back pats, tummy rubs, during changing pushing babys legs down gently. Hope you find a good treatment for baby.

Hi please could I join? Smile My little girl was born on the 23rd June via semi-elective c section after 3 days of failed induction.

She currently weighs about 10lb 2 and she eats 4oz every 2-4 hours, feel like I don't know what I'm doing half the time despite working with children for years Grin Started to smile and engage a little more which is lovely. Congratulations to you all!

LemonLadybird · 05/08/2018 20:01

Oh and I combi feed expressed milk and formula as my baby failed to latch due to small gape and facial palsy Sad

Embracethechaos · 06/08/2018 13:15

Welcome lemon ladybird. 3 days is a long time. I thought my I was being prepared for a c section before the final stage of induction, my waters broke prematurely so they didn't examine me until I was dilated to avoid infection. Preparation meant no food on Monday, I was about 30 hours from waters to non assisted birth. My baby very nearly had forceps but that fear gave me the energy for final push. I was allowed to eat Monday afternoon just before hormone drip but I only managed a quarter of a wrap and 3 m and ms. I am amazed my body found the energy from so little food.

Thanks embracethechaos yeah I'm unable to breastfeed. Although my SIL and 2 friends had similar problems with baby and they ask breastfed. I think it's too much acid in the stomach. Hopefully will start working soon. DH has taken her for the day today to give me a break. It's a strange feeling after 7 wks like a little part of me is missing but it's nice being able to walk around town without a big pram getting in the way of everything!
