You can buy ginger oil from here here and here but there are others on ebay too

JodieG1 · 15/05/2007 21:46

Liz - it's masterfoods not nestle iirc. It's annoying as I liked those chocolates, not any more though as I'm a vegetarian. They sent me an email about it a few weeks ago saying what the changes were etc.

trixymalixy · 15/05/2007 22:09

hi 2happy ,,

Dh getting kind of sacked was actually a good thing as he has just moved to a different project, where they don't expect him to work so hard, and they have replaced him on the old project with 3 indians !!

I've already been avoiding onions as DS has always been a windy baby.

Mrs C - I'm going to try cranial osteopathy next if the dairy free diet doesn't work. I'm on day 2 and we have had a couple of non-screaming feeds today, so I've got my fingers crossed it'll help.

What is the best alternative to milk you have tried? i think the thing I'll miss most is butter.

Lizz - I'm starting baby massage classes next week, which I'm really looking forward to.

Am really of those of you that have cleaners. Our cleaner sacked us !! Although we were about to get rid of her as she was rubbish and we couldn't afford her while i'm on mat leave.

i can't believe some of you iron pants and muslins!!! i only buy clothes that don't need ironing as i hate it so much!! DH, I do the same as you and tumble dry stuff so it doesn't need ironed.

A friend came round to help after DS was born and ironed all his tiny socks!!! I couldn't believe it!!

Lizzzombie · 16/05/2007 08:12

Morning - me again!
Hope everyone had as good a night as me, again, LO slept through from 7.30pm till 5.30am. After a feed, DP takes him from 6.30am and then he has a sleep from 7.30am, and I get up at 8am. This is easier than when I was working! Yawn...x

RGee · 16/05/2007 08:21

Morning all!
Quiet last night om here. At least it meant I did some work.

Trixy - ironing pants is bad enough (you know who you are ) but baby socks??!! What's all that about?

A mad old lady with a toddler in a pushchair stopped me yesterday by a row of shops. Have to tell you the conversation cos I thought she was a bit batty.
Her: "Where's the nearest chemist" (note no please or excuse me)
Me: "Just there" (points to chemist in row of shops about 6 doors down)
Her: "No, not that one" (excuse my mind reading skills)
Me: Erm... (thinking for all of half a second before being interrupted)
Her: "They said there's one on XX Road"
Me: "There is, but there's a closer one on YY Road"
Her: "Do they sell bottles"
Me: "I'm sorry, I don't know"
Her: "You DO have a child don't you"
Me: (getting peed off by now)Pointing to the pushchair in a sarcastic manner "I did last time I looked"
Her: "I havea PhD you know" (WHAT??!!) "Where would you go if you wanted bottles?"
Me: (felt like saying I would never be disorganised enough to not have one if it was that important) "To the supermarket in suburb, 20 minute walk away"
Her: "That's too far"
Me: "The bus from this stop takes you directly there and the buses are buggy friendly"
Her: SIGH. Walk off.
Nice huh! Some people eh!
My walk yesterday then got slightly madder as I passed a lady out walking in her slippers (ok, she had a zimmer frame too so maybe I can excuse her)

I finally managed to knock on the door of our new neighbour who moved in in January (I was strangely too preoccupied to go round then ). It turns out she has an 8 week old dd. Must have been a very frantic few months for them then. Wonder if she's a MNer?

Reet. Have a good day all. I'm going back to my work report until lo awakes.

Lizzzombie · 16/05/2007 08:27

Hah RGEE - sounds like a quite a few oddbods live in your neighbourhood...!!

laughalot · 16/05/2007 08:58

Morning all I dident get chance to post yesterday as I actually had a bit of a life because my dh was on his day off. We managed to go into town where I met one of my friends from work so we had a bit of lunch then we did some food shopping at asda and my children were really good which makes a change. Last night football was on my family is mad on derby county and they were playing a big match so there we go that was my day.

Rgee pmsl at the mad lady there are some wierdos about try and visit mansfield you will see what I mean.

Eah I am so glad e was ok she is a little star and well done on getting the money back I looked be we have never swapped lenders . How is H ?

Wilks hope you are ok mate? J food sounds scrummy would you care to send some down for his little friend , I must admit we are having delightfull nappiessince weaning.

Lizz have you been baking anything nice lately ? Im having a wiff but cant smell anything.

Dragon sorry to hear you are all ill I hate when you can hear them struggling to breath and im with you on the ironing thing.

Mrs carrot a cleaner I am I wish I could afford one because I do like a tidy house everything has to be in its place.

I bet iv missed loads of personals so I am sorry xxx

vinorouge · 16/05/2007 11:11

Not organised today.Still in dressing gown. Oh dear. Dentist appt at 5 today so will have to be ready to face the world by then. They will coo over lo so I can feel like a proud parent there

Left LO with DH last night while I went out for tea with friends. She refused EBM and FF so went hungry instead as well as providing DH with 3 delightful poos. I had warned him she hadn't pooed all day - very unusual for her. LO seems quite grumpy at the moment, crying a lot and this is all after I have spoken to the nursery and assured them she is good with other babies and doesn't cry when I leave her. I may have spoken too soon.

Actually one of my friends babies didn't poo for 8 days when she started weaning him. With the help of lactulose she described his much awaited for poo as a kingsize mars bar poor little thing.

Wilkie how far is scunthorpe from you? Wondered how often you go there cos its not far from here and my parents live near there in Epworth.

I confess to ironing muslins too !!!! Not socks though or my undies. My clothes are ironed on a need to wear basis.

I managed to incur a charge on our food account at the weekend buying the bloody baby milk that lo won't drink. Feeling confident I rang the bank and hooray they reversed it. Going to buy some spoons today to try feeding FF to her that way to see if I can tempt her tastebuds.

Also arranged redelivery of a parcel on royalmail website. Much easier than trying to get through by phone.

Had a mad busy day yesterday left the house at 9 to go to baby cafe birthday party. Went from there to a mum and baby meet up (where lo cried the loudest yet I was embarrassed!) then dropped her off at home and out for tea not back til 9.30. I was worn out!

Lizzzombie · 16/05/2007 11:37

Vino - your days sounds so hectic yesterday I am pleased you are still in your dressing gown. I would put my feet up till 4.30pm if I was you!
LaL - Just finished my last piece of apricot flapjack this second, so will make some more later this afternoon. Do you want me to send you a (virtual) piece?

RGee · 16/05/2007 11:58

Vino - I think our lo's must have made a pact. I've just come on here to have a moan that lo has been screaming for over an hour, which is really unlike her. She was tired but refusing to go to sleep. Don't know if the teeth are bothering her, but neither Ashton Kutcher powder nor Bonjella seemed to help. Thankfully she's asleep now, but an hour of screaming! I felt like she was 6 weeks old again.
Am now in need of chocolate (am eating a banana sandwich, which doesn't quite have the same calming properties) but a piece of flapjack will definitely help Lizz.

RGee · 16/05/2007 12:00

Mmmm...spicy tomato flavoured wheat crunchies seem to help too

vinorouge · 16/05/2007 13:00

Rgee - here's a piece of my fruit cake which I am just nom nomming. Not quite as good as choc but its yummy! BTW am very impressed you are doing a work report.

Happy baking Lizz - in fact the mums house I went to yesterday had baked choc cake, carrot cake and granola bars for us. I had a piece of each, 3 cups of tea and a big glass of water. Not that I'm a pig of course.

LO happily chewing her bib at the moment. She also finally fell asleep after lots of crying. I felt a bad mother leaving her to cry but she was doing my head in. Must get some of this teething powder in readiness.

MrsCarrot · 16/05/2007 13:00

banana sandwich, Rgee? Ew!

Trixy- The milk replacement is hard, I have rice milk in my tea, takes some getting used to but now I quite enjoy it. It slightly tastes like it's already been on some cereal but if you drink it with a biscuit or something it's too subtle to notice. I also have olive marg, but a special one from the health shop as most have buttermilk in, and I spread it VERY thin as it tastes, well, it doesn't taste like butter! I'm thinking that not having thick butter is probably helping my wasteline. Although, I eat quite a lot of coconut macaroons (wheat and dairy free!) and fruit/spice oatcakes, in fact I eat a lot of oatcakes full stop. Dove Farm makes delicious lemon biscuits that are wheat dairy free too, in most supermarkets, most other biscuits are rank. Cheese. No suitable replacement, but I have things like houmous, and mayonnaise is fine, so's salad cream. Sadly, there is nothing good to go with crumble! Although, I discovered Alfra provamel strawberry soya yoghurts are quite tasty!
My health visitor couldn't believe that my gp said dairy doesn't get in breast milk as it's the first thing they suggest avoiding with colicky babies and it often works.
Little fatty is 15.6 1b.

Helo everyone else

MrsCarrot · 16/05/2007 13:02

Oh, and oat milk is quite palatable too, but there was a funny thread on here a while back about the strangeness of the wackos who would drink nut milks

MrsCarrot · 16/05/2007 13:02

Failing that there's always Earl Grey with lemon

vinorouge · 16/05/2007 13:07

mrs carrot - typhoo lemon zester tea is nice and no need for any milk!

banana sarnies esp with choc spread

I will have to leave the house in about 2 hours. I am dressed now. Even washed and dried my hair...not sure why I bothered though seeing as it will get wet and frizzy as soon as I step out in the rain

vinorouge · 16/05/2007 13:31

I feel like a new mum. More screams over FF. 10 mins of trying and she's had a dreg. One paltry dreg. Fed up of her crying. AAAAGGGHHH

canmummy · 16/05/2007 14:28

Hiya everyone!

Nights seem to be getting worse - she was awake for a feed every 2 hours from 1.30am Hope this growth spurt is over soon I love my sleep and had got used to it again. I'm just sat here now can't be bothered to tidy up or plan tea .... might have a cuppa before I start the school run. Sorry for no personals I'll try and get round to some later.

Oh and thanks for the replies about the breastfeeding, think I'll stick to one side but if she doesn't seem satisfied offer the other.

Shimmer · 16/05/2007 14:34

Just cooking those nigella cupcakes Lizz. I haven't iced them yet, but just taken them out of the oven and they look and smell goregous!! I'll post some pictures if they end up looking anywhere near as good as yours Did you bother with chopping the tops off?

Lizzzombie · 16/05/2007 17:18

Hi Shimmer - yes, I chopped the tops off, and to stop DP eating them all (he is a binger!) I have frozen them to make trifle sponges one day...()
If you are following Nigellas recipie for the icing too, half her quantities, I made 250g of royal icing and it was still far too much and she recommends 500g.
Am about to upload photo of flapjack, for you all to be impressed! (I'll be posting photos of my ironing later on )
Canmummy - Not that I am a Gina Ford advocate as she thoroughly confused me and her book had me in tears, but one good thing I did read in her book, was "if baby doesnt seem satisfied after feeding from one boob, swap to the other one and let them feed from that" I know its common sense, but no one had ever told me to do that before, and it worked. He gobbled down another boobful...of course, Gina doesnt actually use the word boob. She probably used the word mammary or something!

laughalot · 16/05/2007 17:23

Nom nom nom nommy lizz I wish we lived closer I would be your best friend .

Lizzzombie · 16/05/2007 17:30

Ha - LAL - all my friends are fatties, you may not want that!

Has anyone used Dentinox cradle cap shampoo & did it work? My LO has major scales on his scalp!

laughalot · 16/05/2007 18:52

Lauren has had bad cradle cap and I used that it works well.

Wilkie · 16/05/2007 18:56

Vino - my BF lives in Epworth and I go to Scunnie quite a bit. ILs live there. We could meet up?? Small world eh!

No time for personals as DH just bought in fish and chips >>

Wilkie · 16/05/2007 19:24

Am starting to think about high chairs see thread I have started if you have an opinion...

Fish and Chips were nom nom.

Boots Cradle Cap cream (lilac and yellow tube) is fantastic and cleared J's up immediately when he was about 6 weeks. He had a scaly scalp and I just put it on every night after his bath.
