way hey we have cracked pre school took her today she cried in car park ook her in, gave her a kiss and left apparently she stopped crying as soon as I left was running around like a tazmanian devil. They had big dolls house out which she loved (which is good because we have a brand new one in the loft with all the furniture we bought when she was tiny as shop was shutting down and we got it reduced from nealry £200 to £40 that will be her main xmas present this year)

She did what she was told to do at the right times ie sat down at story time, wash her hands and sat at the table at snack time etc and didnt ask for me once I hope its the same on Thursday.

LAL - Agree re the bottlefeeding Ellie is never ill more than her friends who were BF and cause she loves her fruit/veg she probably eats alot better than some of her friends

MrsC I am like that with photos have to be just right and all the frames have to match

canmummy · 15/05/2007 14:10

Don't think I've posted for a couple of days as by the time I've caught up on all the posts I've run out of time to add my own! Just put lo down for a sleep but not convinced she's going to stay there..... fingers crossed! I'm shattered don't know if she's going through a growth spurt but she's feeding every 2 hours starting at 2am every night Quick question for those of you breastfeeding - do you feed from both sides each time or just one?

EAH - great news about pre-school hope things continue that way

UD - you sound to be so organised for the picnic and hope the car gets sorted. I once took a car back to the dealer because the brakes were crap and he said it was because i didn't drive it enough and to get my dh to take it out for me 1st to warm it up! I kid you not!

LAL - I breastfeed but I'm still with you on not making people feel guilty if they don't or can't. I had trouble establishing breastfeeding with my 1st and my 3rd and know damn well if my 3rd had been my 1st I would have given up through lack of support.

Mrs C and Hattie2 - so impressed you've got cleaners. I've got quite a big house and 5 years ago when we moved here dh promised me one. There's now an advert in the local newsagents window and think I might go back this pm and get the number before she's full up (that's happened before by the time I've got round to ringing)

Hello to everyone else! I went running again last night and everything aches today - serves me right! Got 2 weeks before my holiday to lose 1.5 stone - do you think I can ?

katwith3kittens · 15/05/2007 14:24

Judging from your MN name YOU CAN ! (loose the weight that is )

Sounds like you and jodie are going thro what I had to do with a couple of weeks ago (nearly 21 weeks now) with feeding every couple of hours. Its most probably a growth spurt, for me it lasted a week but were more a less back to normal now, 3 hourly durining the day and lasting 6-7 hours at night.

I'm very pro BF, although I in no way feel I'm in a position to critisise others for their choices. As I've said before my mum is very anti BF and I was FF from day 1, and I consider myself fit and healthy (I am a veggie / fish eater, so quite conscious of what we eat as a family, and perhaps a bit of a food snob, for nearly 6 years my DD thought macdonalds was a farm, it was only when she started school I thought it was a bit mean and I was worried she would get teased so I took her to see what it was all about. Typically she loved it, or was that the free toy tatt she came away with. I was that mum that made them ffry a new batch of chips as I insisted thay didnt have salt on !

Someones stirring .... time to go....

katwith3kittens · 15/05/2007 14:35

Usually just one side at each feed, if really hungry then I offer the other side, and start with the 2nd side the next time as its never usually emptied.

Lizzzombie · 15/05/2007 15:05

Canmummy - I Bf 10 mins on each side. Else I end up with lopsided tits. But I am 50% FF and 50% BF at the moment. When I was 100% BF then I would feed from alternate ones at each feed.

I am a bad mother. A very bad mother. I will have to do penance by ironing all my LOs muslins and then ironing everyone elses.
LO ha screaming fit earlier, for half an hour, nothing would calm him down. So I drugged him up with A&P powder. He calmed down lots and chuntered away for a bit. Now he is staring into space. Drugged. Its feeding time and he is still zombied out. I am a bad mother. Please, pass me your muslins!

JodieG1 · 15/05/2007 15:14

I only ever really feed from one side and if it's only a short feed then I use the same side again next time.

Kat - Ethan feeds every hour or two during the day all the time but usually goes 3 hours from when he first goes to bed and then every 2 hours or so for the rest of the night, less as it gets earlier.

ellieandhattie · 15/05/2007 15:40

I got £91 back from a 5 min call

Thought this worth linking here I rang C&G had no details as mtrg was years ago and they refunded me £80 plus interest going straight in my account in next 4 days

Wilkie · 15/05/2007 15:57

Back again

SH - I bought a mouli from a cheap shop in Scunthorpe and it works fine.

RGee - Fruit Compote consists of apple, pear and dried apricot, simmered for 8 mins then moulied up and frozen. Tastes lovely.

Anyone considering weaning - forget papaya. What a waste of bloody time, money and effort. It tastes rank for a start, it's expensive, 1 papaya produces barely any puree and it doesn't puree down very well. Crap IMO.

LL - I'm with you chuck. I didn't want to BF so apart from the 4 feeds I did in hospital I went straight to FF. I think the problem is that other people think they 'know best'. IMO we are all intelligent women therefore we know what best suits our children and lifestyles. I love this thread cos some of us have wildly different ways of parenting to each other but there is no preachin, just support and advice - shame the same can't be said for the rest on MN.

I did it again didn't I....walked out a bloody shop without paying for an item. I had hung it off the back of the trolly, paid for the rest of the goos and waltzed out with it still on the back of the trolly

SH - meant DH

2Happy · 15/05/2007 16:00

Canmummy - both sides every feed, but I think he feeds less often than most other babies his age to sort of make up for it (ds1 was the same). And with ironed muslins, naturally

2Happy · 15/05/2007 16:02

Wilkie! You naughty mummy! What was the offending item? Bottle of moet? Cartier watch?

Lizzzombie · 15/05/2007 16:02

Wilks - was going to actually ask people about this today...have you ever walked out of a shop without paying for something?
My DP seems to always 'forget' to pay for loo roll. We have a stock pile of it now!

canmummy · 15/05/2007 16:21

A couple of years ago I dragged my friend into Claire's accessories to get her ears pierced (she was getting married 3 weeks later and wanted pierced ears but couldn't pluck up the courage to get them done). She was a childminder so we'd got 3 kids under 2 between us and her dd was hysterical so I was trying to distract her and calm her down. Wasn't til I got home and took my dd out of her pushchair that I found a couple of bracelets tucked behind her

Lizzzombie · 15/05/2007 16:23

My mum came home from shopping on saturday afternoon and found a very nice gold necklace in her handbag, she swears she doesnt know how it got there and reckons someone popped in her bag when she wasnt looking. She wears it quite alot...the chav!

Lizzzombie · 15/05/2007 16:23

...a few years ago - not recently. Which is why she still wears it. (doh)

Wilkie · 15/05/2007 16:27

An ice pack for my thermos bag

OP posts:
theUrbanDryad · 15/05/2007 16:37

i regularly "forget" to pay for Fruit Pastilles. well, they're Nestle, i can't buy them can i??

Lizzz - i'm so glad you admitted to drugging your LO. i tend to give him some before supermarket trips he does sleep all the way round though. i'll get ironing shall i?

chicarg · 15/05/2007 16:46

Sorry completely off topic but a message to Wilkie, sorry if I break the nettiquette!

Wilkie: I just wanted to know if you have sold your dress yet or still have it?

Thanks & sorry again
(i have left you a reply in your original add)

Wilkie · 15/05/2007 16:58

Chicharg, have left message for you on my OP in For Sale

Lizzzombie · 15/05/2007 17:21

Did you hear the fact that nestle are introducing animal rennet to some of their choc bars so are no longer suitable for veggies?

MrsCarrot · 15/05/2007 17:22

Another reason not to eat nestle!

Lizzzombie · 15/05/2007 17:24

In case anyone is interested:
"Due to a change in the ingredients used in our chocolate recipes from
1st May 2007 many of our products now contain whey. This is a
by-product
of the cheese making process and uses rennet derived from an animal
source. Therefore we feel it is for individual vegetarians to judge
whether they are comfortable in consuming cheese products that do not
bear a vegetarian symbol; we would consider our products to fall into
this same category.

This includes Galaxy, Mars, Bounty, Celebrations, Maltesers, Milky Way, Revels, Snickers, Topic and Twix.

Products that are currently in store or that you may have already
purchased that carry a Best Before Date of 1st October or before are
still suitable for your consumption, however if you have purchased any
products with a best before after this date then we will be more than
happy to refund the value of the product. Please see attached lists for
further information."

RGee · 15/05/2007 19:38

Well it's been a grumpy old day in the RGee household. Not from me obviously but the small person. But all grumps come to an end and she's fast asleep now so peace is restored

How is everyone else?
Wilkie - But an ice pack?!! If only it had been as 2Happy suggested. Just imagine trying to decide whether or not to return a Catier watch
Lizz, loo paper's worse than an ice pack - pmsl.

EAH - what are you going to spend your windfall on? Well done to Ellie btw.

Have come on to the PC to write a report for work, but seem to have spent the last hour on MN delving in to threads and topics I've never come across before. Me thinks someone is avoiding work related issues...

Dragonhart · 15/05/2007 20:11

Mrs Carrot- Tried my two nearest chemists and Asda but they didnt have it. I asked a very young looking lad in Asda if they had any and he took me to the cooking oil section! After he spend afew minutes looking for it and told me they didnt have any didnt have the heart to tell him so just went to look in the right section! Thanks so much for the offer, it was so lovely of you but I would really like to find some here as I also want it to give to my dsis. I am doing a big hamper with all things for her and her baby (when it comes) so wanted to add that too (as well as a wide toothed comb!). Also a book is far too heavy for you to post to me. I think it was the Jam one but I will look it up at our library once lo is out of our room and I can actually read again. Oh and Luke agrees with you about the yoghurt lid and refuses to lick it! It just means there is more for me!!

I agree with LTH I think you are all ironing freakoids! Why on earth would you iron muslins and pants! I only iron things that absolutly have to be ironed and even put a timmer on so I know when the tumble drier has finished and I can just whip the stuff out and put it on hangers. Summer is not so good for that though as we all spend our time with peg marks on everything!

Canmummy- I bf on both sides each feed. I start on one side and Ruth has it until she gets cross and starts coming on and off (also it 'feels' empty) then feed her on the other side. She normally empties both sides but not always. Esp in the morning when there is LOADS! Only started feeding both sides when she was about 3 months old as my boobs were getting very lobsided.

EAH glad E enjoyed Preschool. Fingers crossed for thu.

Laughalot- I dont know why people feel they have to belittle others to make the choices they have made seem the 'right' ones. Everyone is different and different things are right for them. I know plenty of bf babies with health problems and plenty of ff people who are perfectly healthy (inc my DH).

Well all the dragons have colds today. I hav ethe worst one I have had since...I cant remember. I cant taste anything, my throat feels like it is swollen and I keep sneezing, then my nose runs so I blow it, which makes me sneeze, which makes my nose run...repeat for about azillion times today! Luke is quite cheery today with it but he had it worse on sun. Dreading Ruth getting it as I was lucky with Luke and he never got a cold while I was feeding him. Ruth's nose is already blocked and when I put her to bed she was making piggy snuffling noises!

MrsCarrot · 15/05/2007 20:20

There must be some near you, Dragon, a health shop or something? Well, if you still can't find any for your sis, do let me know. I'm more than happy to send it to you. I quite like packing things up and going to the post office. Weird, I know

Canmummy- One side is usually enough for F but if he's particularly hungry sometimes he has some of the other side too.

Going to watch Casino Royale now with DH, he's moaning that I'm on here all the time. Honestly. As if?
