How long is normal to not have a period after having a baby?

My daughter is almost 7 months old. I still haven't had a period... she is breast fed but not as often now as she's weaning. When did your period return after having a baby & BF? The reason I ask is I have PCO & although I lost weight & my periods were regular when I conceived my daughter I have gained back some weight & worry that might be a contributing factor. TIA ladies. 25 months after DS1. BF him for 23 months.

4 years after DS2! Was being referred for further investigations as I was starting to panic a bit, when it suddenly returned, regular as clockwork. I did BF him for 3.5 years though (that boy did NOT want to stop and still occasionally says he's sad there's no mummy milk now, he's 5!)

Thanks a lot roomba sounds like the breastfeeding can really stop Aunt Flo returning...! Put my mind at ease I appreciate it. I've loved breastfeeding not looking forward to the day it all ends! Sad

around the 12-15 month mark for me.
My fourth is the same age as yours and still no periods. It's certainly one of the perks.

You're definitely worrying over nothing Smile

6 weeks after I stopped breastfeeding. Which was when DD was 15months old. Also have pcos. It was the feeding not the pcos that stopped it

18 months and 12 months. Bf both.

Well I conceived dc2&3 while still breastfeeding all the bloody time at about 18 months post partum for both. With dc2 it was before my first period (must have caught the first egg) and with dc3 I had had one period. And I was tandem feeding!
I am now 18 months post partum with dc3 and periods not returned. Breastfeeding loads though.

24 months for me - literally the morning after his second birthday. It varies enormously.

KnowYourPlace · 28/01/2018 22:03

It took about 18 months post partum with both of mine.

piglet81 · 28/01/2018 22:03

(Still breastfeeding, I should have said.) I conceived a few months later but MC.

Ilovemybaby91 · 28/01/2018 22:11

Thanks everyone Smile I was definitely worrying for nothing!
piglet sorry to hear you had to go through that. Hope you're ok. X

9 months post partum mine came back and that was because my son started ramping up on the solids and cutting back on the breastfeeding.
