Hi everyone. Love the new title. ds is now 10 and a half months. He is also standing for a few secnds unaided and walking is getting technically better with a hand on the settee.
Still no teeth although his gums look about to explode. Unfortunately it's still a problem to feed him proper food. dd loves finger feeding him from her plate though the crafty little miss.
He's taken to waking up at 5-5.30am and hardly going back to sleep! Did I hear mention of some mumsies preggers again? How, how...

Hi all, sorry for not posting for a while. Hope everyone and their little lovelies are well. DD is now 10 and a half months old and a little monster. She's crawling everywhere and with me having 4 months to go until DD number 2 arrives (don't ask me how that happened!) am finding it very very hard. God alone knows what it'll be like come September!

DD is now 20lbs and has 2 top and 2 bottom teeth. She's trying so hard to walk and getting frustrated so she'll scream the place down - oh joy! She's at her happiest in the morning but come midday until bedtime she transforms into a grumpy old woman - does anyone else have this problem??? xxx

blobsmummy · 30/04/2007 09:38

Hi all.

Foxy - my parents took her to Eastbourne, which I've never been to, but they said it's quite nice - like an old fashioned seaside but it hasn't fallen into disrepair. DD certainly slept well that night! But then she normally sleeps 12.5 hours anyway!

to all you mums with LO's sleeping probs. I only slept 5 hours last night, but that was due to DH's snoring, so at least I could thump him to make me feel better! Makes me feel a bit better though that some of you are tearing your hair out. I've been losing my patience so quickly at the mo and finding motherhood a bit overwhelming again (a bit like this time last year!).

Trinity - I hate the hours of 3pm onwards, as unless I have lots of things to entertain her or we got out, she gets quite grumpy.

For those of you thinking about getting a swing, I'd definitely go for it. DD loves her swing and it's a great place to put her when you're hanging the washing out. Also the one place that I can put her and she can't escape from which is wonderful!

WW - sorry to hear about your FIL - will be thinking of him. DD is walking pretty much most of the time. She took her longest solo walk yesterday and managed about 6metres. She also climbed the entire length of the stairs all by herself (with us behind her). DH (who is 6ft 4in) is struggling with bending down to hold her hand all the time. Cat is having to learn to move much quicker too!

Mitchell81 · 01/05/2007 20:24

DS started crawling properly today, so pleased better late than never. I know others have been doing this for months, but we are so pleased. DH came in from work, (got back yesterday) and Ds crawled towards him.

foxymagoo · 03/05/2007 13:52

Afternoon laides,

Mitchell81 - I bet your dh was delighted to see ds crawling towards him - Way to go!

Blobsmummy - we're also struggling back-wise with the walking round and round. Sorry to hear your feeling a bit overwhelmed - I go through days like this too especially when ds gets bored in his pram down town and I have to get round M&S carrying him with my shopping in the pram . I used to be able to stand for ages in WH Smith reading Heat/Grazia/Closer/New/Now/Hello/OK! - whilst ds sat happily in his pram watching the world go by - those days are gone!

We have visitors this afternoon, Mum from playgroup with her dd who is 11 months older than ds. Does anyone else find it difficult to do the whole inviting people round that you get on with at playgroup but not wanting to seem over keen? - I feel its like making new friends all over again and can make me feel quite shy and anxious sometimes...

RachelPross · 05/05/2007 19:02

Nice to see everyone is making the most of the sunshine with the LOs like we have been today and not sat at computer like am now...about to go out to join DH cooking BBQ. I love this weather, hope it stays like this till autumn...
House renv is going well, walls are now being replastered, bathroom suite going in this week, tiles being done too, new windows, kitchen to be ordered this week....scary money being spent though. It hurts to see the bank balance shrinking daily as people are getting paid for stuff!!
Anyway, hope noone is too sunburnt, have a good BH weekend!!!!!!!!!!!! Byeeeeeeeeee

Foxy - I leave it to DH to invite over the playmates as I also find it a bit scary!

WW - thinking of you as you start work - hope it all goes really smoothly.

Took DD to Chatham Historic Dockyard yesterday (we live a few roads away from it which is handy for a quick trip out) and she went down a submarine - it helps to be a midgit in those things. DH (being 6ft 4) had to be really careful. DD really loved it down there as there are lots of knobs and buttons to twiddle!

foxymagoo · 11/05/2007 12:38

Where is everyone?! Busy arranging first b'day parties maybe

I'm knackered today, ds it teething again and back to 5.30am wake up calls and this time around he is standing in his cot waiting for us to come and get him.

DH is on golfing weekend (Thurs. - Sat) and I'm missing him lots. DS is fine although he did wonder where he was this morning (pointed to dh's side of the bed and looked a little lost). I explained that he would see Daddy later but I know they have no concept of time.

Roll on Sat. 5pm....

oh and ds took hist first unaided steps on Monday - 3 big boy steps from granny to me!

alibobble · 13/05/2007 09:16

Hi everyone. Been away for a week at my sisters in Truro over the nice weather week. Was glorious and dd loved the beach! She pointed at the sudocreme today and asked for it (made lots of noise and looked pleased when I handed it to her!) Sorry to hear people having sleeping troubles. dd still teething so we're on calpol again which helps. She is happy crawling and shows no sign of wanting to walk.

Took her to a local farm on Bankhol mon where you can pet the animals. She LOVED it. a cow licked her leg which she thought was funny but weird and we fed the sheep and goats and held chickies and bunnies. AHHHHHHHHHHH!

Can't remember who said they were feeling overwhelmed... I also have good and bad days so I know what you mean. it's getting better tho. (she says hopefully)

Hi everyone - not been here much recently as it's been a really busy time. My grandad died on 24th April, which was very sudden, although he hadn't had a great quality of life for a wee while. It meant an expedition up to the far north of Scotland to get the ferry to Orkney for the funeral. Although it was a very sad time, having the children there helped everyone, I think. We spent two days travelling there and back and the day of the actual funeral in Orkney, so it knocked everyone out their routine a bit!

Then when we got back DH and I were caught up in the Scottish elections, the result of which I'm rather pleased about .

DD is back to through the night waking for a bottle (I think the SMA white effect lasted about 2 nights). I have decided this is RIDICULOUS at her age, so as of last night am trying controlled crying and water as opposed to milk through the night. She has 3 top teeth just peeking through, and is marching along holding onto furniture. She did actually stand for a couple of seconds unaided the other day, but then realised she wasn't holding onto anything and plumped down on her bum quickly!

She's really inquisitive - at Toddlers she takes off to all the far flung corners of the hall, just checking occasionally that I'm still around. I can see once she's totally mobile and starts ganging up with her big brother I am never going to have a moment's peace again!

Bit of a monster post, but hope everyone's well...

blobsmummy · 14/05/2007 09:11

Hi all. DD walking really quite well now but it means lots of bumping into things as she learns how to 'steer' herself around things on the floor. Bought a tube of arnica cream a couple of weeks ago and is half way through it already. Gave out DD's party invites yesterday - can't believe my baby is now a toddler!

We did our local 'Mile For Maude' walk on Saturday. It was great to meet other MN mums in the flesh, and there was about 25 of us with LO doing the walk. The weather held for the duration (just) and we think our little group raised £3000 for FSID

foxymagoo · 17/05/2007 13:43

ola everyone, Well done blobsmummy - what a great amount you help raise for 'Mile for Maude' I've still to meet a real life MNetter... that I know of anyway

Off into town this afternoon to order ds's birthday cake. We're also booked in on 2nd June for our first offical family photos - still recovering from the price list () - is this what the going rate is? - £30 for session then £30 for each 8" print/£40 for each 10" print.. If you go down the road of them framing/multiframes we're talking £300-£400 - oh I need to lie down again...

Anyone taken their lo to the hairdressers? Ds now has 'wings' over his ears but won't sit still long enough for me to trim him.

RachelPross · 17/05/2007 20:06

Hello all. I'm still up to my eyes in house chaos. Bath is in, tiles are done, kitchen, cooker and cooker hood arrived today and are being fitted tomorrow onwards. Me, Dad-in-law and my Dad started decorating today...DD's nursery first of course...her first nursery as she's been relegated to the spare room/nursery till we got this new place. Moving in on 30th but have a horrid feeling it'll still be semi-building site then!

DD is now standing and holding onto things, side of cot mainly. Teething something chronic but no sign of the things cutting thru yet

Feeling really bad at the moment as I'm still trying to get my translation business of the ground...hard work, and paint the house so have v little time to spend with my little munchkin madam. I miss her terribly, how will I cope when she eventually goes to nursery boo hoo

hello! haven't posted in a while so here goes. some of you may remember i was having problems with BLW because ds just wouldn't pick any of the food up off his tray. he finally did this at 8 months. then it took til 10 months for him to even try and put it anywhere near his mouth. finally at 10.5 months he can now feed himself!

ds was quite a late sitter - 9 months and has made no effort to crawl. he has never liked being on the floor especially his tummy so never thought he would anyway.

in the last couple of weeks he has started doing this bouncing thing when sitting so he may bum shuffle i am thinking. however he has just started walking around holding my hands. only problem is he wants me to do this all the time. i just wish he would learn to get around by himself - crawl/bum shuffle/pull up and walk around the furniture - something!!

he has just started waving bye bye aswell. its honestly like in the last 2 weeks a little switch went on his head head.

foxymagoo · 21/05/2007 12:47

...and he's off! ds walked the length of the living room yesterday, unaided and several times .. The look on his face was just fantastic, I had a lump in my throat!

I've decided to get tough with the morning nap - at the mo' he sleeps @ 1.5 in the morning and 1 hour after lunch but it is getting harder and harder to put him down after lunch so am limiting morning nap to 1 hour and going to slowly reduce it over the next couple of months...

Took delivery of ds's b'day chute and swing today, dh putting them up at the weekend.

nappyaddict - ds loves to finger feed himself - he can almost get his yoghurt spooned from tub to mouth but it still ends up in a big fat mess all over him, its all trial and error!

blobsmummy · 21/05/2007 14:02

Foxy - great news about the walking! MIL is having family photos done for DD's first birthday. All the wider family is coming aswell. I cannot stand having my photo taken so am doing this very grudgingly!

My dad has set up a business recently whereby he can take any photo and enlarge it to as big as you like. We had him blow up a panaromic photo we took of Perth (australia) and we have it now as a huge piece of artwork going nearly the length of our dining room - it looks fab. We had it printed on canvas and box framed. If there are any decent family pictures from the session I'll get him to reproduce them for us to save a few bob. His website is www.stw-signs.co.uk and has one of the best price lists around for photo enlargement. OK, he owes me commision for this revue!

DD had her hair cut for the 3rd time this year on Friday. She was very good at the hairdressers and really liked having the gown on!

Right, really must do some work before the boss catches me....

nappyaddict · 21/05/2007 18:02

awww when was your lo born foxy? who elses lo's are walking?

he keeps trying to pull up in his cot but doesn't realise he has to get on his knees first lol!!

blobsmummy · 22/05/2007 09:13

nappyaddict - our LO has been walking for about 2 months now and is already on her 2nd pair of shoes - thank goodness there's a clarks discount retail outlet a mile from where we live!

WW - so are the plans secret for your 10th or can you share?! Hope you have something very lovely planned. DH & I have been together 10 years this year (married 6) so am thinking of going out to celebrate that - any excuse for a night out htese days!

nappyaddict · 22/05/2007 11:00

ooooh i wish we had a clarks discount shop. £28 for a pair of kids shoes went into barratts and they don't start until size 4 and he's only a 3. hush puppies are a bit cheaper at £18 so i think we'll be going there. being the summer though i'll probably just get him some cheap sandals and wait til september though.

foxymagoo · 22/05/2007 13:40

nappyaddict - ds will be one on 6/6. He's still to get his first pair of shoes and tends to be either barefoot or in Robeez leather padders with suede soles. I read ages ago that they learn to walk best when they can feel the floor through their feet as they learn to 'splay' their toes.

Saying that he is growing out his padders so going to pop into Clarks on Thurs. to see the selection of 'first shoes' - I hear you get a photo taken as its a momentous occassion!

All this new found walking has made ds v. tired - he actually led me to his room after lunch as if to say "oh mum, I need to lie down now" - that's my boy!

To those of you celebrating 10 years - Scotland has some gorgeous hotels - Gleneagles/St. Andrews - really romantic and the food is fantastic..
