Diddle - I'm starting up a translation business, online and via post in my local area. Am SO excited, but it's all proving alot of work what with the house renovation project going on too. The stress is incredible, can't sleep for thinking about paint, kitchens, tiles and carpet. How sad is that!

I just can't wait to get into the new house so I can concentrate on getting the business of the ground properly.

What is it you do online?

Hi all,

Diddle, I was only wondering if you was ok the other day as we hadn't heard from you in a while. Congrats on pregnancy no.2

I've not posted for a couple of weeks as we've been away to Spring Harvest (massive Christian conference) in Skegness. DD loved the all-age services, especially the drama as it featured a scarecrow which really made her laugh. She also loved being around hundreds of other kids her own age and ended the week by giving her little friend a big kiss and cuddle when we said goodbye. The weather was pretty rubbish and DD wasn't actually all that well whilst we were away, so it's lovely to be back to the warm weather down south, and a washing machine so I can cope with all of the sicky bedding!

hey BM and WW. My sister did the recording of SH and Soul Survivor last year and the year before. ww we always did keswick when I was a kid cos you could camp and was cheaper than SH. Hope you have a good time and the weather is good... makesa big difference doesn't it?

dd has been doing fine recently but last night was up from 11.30pm-2.30am. Am knackered and she's screaming again now so must go. Am considering hiding in the garden... but won't! Have to do the tesco shop today... joy! that will be fun with screaming baby. Apart from that thing ticking along ok. Not had dd weighed for ages but have to use no 5 nappies... she rolls about so much that it gives you some extra wriggle room than a 4+!

Btw anyone tried netto nappies... they're well good! (and cheaper!)

alib - sorry to hear your dd is under the weather. Have you tried ordering Tesco online? DS has only been in Tesco once for a quick magazine purchase (mine not his).

See they made a gazzillion pounds profit - helped by all my nappy and milk buying no doubt! Haven't heard of netto nappies but been told that Tesco nappies are just as good as pampers and much cheaper - need to investigate.

My SIL is due in Sept, and seriously thinking about using reusable ones - I feel a bit that I haven't ever used them as I am fanatical about recycling - .

i use mix of cotton and disposables. Now nice weather back.. makes drying them easier. Used cotton bottoms but there are loads on the market. May try shopping on line but when dd is a good mood... tesco is a trip out (how sad!)

tesco nappies are really good btw.

who was asking about thermometers: have braun in ear one... v good. used my club card vouchers to pay for it as we have massive (profit making!) tesco near by!

I think I will look into buying some reusables ones - espeically as ds is a 4 nappy a day one poo a day routine.

DS and I went to swing park today, loved the swing and chute - back just in time for dinner and 'In the Night Garden'.

Have just uploaded some new photos..

wow cool garfield. Dd has loved the swings since 4/5 mths old cos she could sit fairly early and support her head well even before that. If you wrapped her in a coat she would be wedged in there. it still makes her laugh and happier than most anything else now.

WW - DH was a steward for the week, so didn't see an awful lot of him (they start 'stewarding' about 8am and finish about 1:30am by the time they've set up the venues for the following day). He's pretty exhausted. I went with a friend who has a 2 year old DD, and whose DH is a deputy-head steward, so we helped each other out whilst our boys were busy directing people and carrying chairs.

Ali - did your sister have anything to do with ICC (the people that sell the recordings of the meetings?). My Dad did their banners and advertising at this years SH, so I was also there to take photos of the stand for him. We've put a swing up in our garden - good place to deposit child when you need to garden!

Have tried using reusable nappies with DD but she didn't like them, even though they were lovely and soft.

DD in a right grump yesterday. I took the day off work as i wasn't feeling great, so was not in a good mood to deal with miserable baby - think another tooth is on it's way as you could fry an egg on her cheeks. Got her weighed yesterday and she's a dianty 18lb 8oz, though if I carry her for more than 5 minutes it feels like 20 stone! My arm muscles aren't keeping up with it!

Hi all, love the new photos! I've joined in too with a couple of new ones...

We had to go through to Aberdeen on Friday for DH to do some work and took the opportunity while we were there to get DC's feet measured. (Us hicks from the sticks have to make the most of our trips to the big city . DD has her first pair of nearly 'proper' shoes! They're sort of pre-first shoes, but a bit more substantial than the ones you can get in the supermarkets. We didn't go through this stage with DS because he was walking on his own so early (10 months) he went straight to proper shoes. She's starting to cruise along the side of the furniture and is getting into everything!

Got her weighed last week too for the first time in ages...still only 19lb 12oz, so a lightweight like yours WW and blobs! Still only 2 teeth although by the red cheeks I'm sure there's more on the way, although I seem to have been saying that for months.

I've used real nappies with both of mine and swear by them. In fact now that I've packed away some of the smaller ones that she's grown out of, I feel really sad that I won't be using them again....how sad. I use pre-fold and motherease wraps in the daytime and totsbots at night. I really love my totsbots - Scottish company and they're just so cosy and cute!

Good news is that for the last 3 nights, DD has slept through the night. I know I've been here before, but hopefully this time... I changed her milk to SMA White on the recommendation of another mum and it seems to have worked (keep fingers, toes and everything crossed).
Better go - DH is champing at the bit to go to the garden centre since it's not weather to do anything in the garden...

Hello again all. V busy busy busy woth house renov thing on the go. DD is like a wriggling, crawling, shouting, screeching thing at the moment. She's into everything and doesn't give her mummy a minutes peace...the up side is that any remianing baby weight is dropping off me now.
Hope you guys are all well.
Our new house is currently plasterless, no doorframes, no skirting boards, mess everywhere, electrics half done, plumbing half done...chaos!!!! Not the best place for a 10 month old baby...can't wait to gte in and decorate it. Might be a few weeks yet though.

Rachel - sounds like a mini nightmare with all that house stuff to do and looking after a baby! Well done you for doing it. I feel that I've achieved something if I manage to do the washing up - DD is intent on wrecking the place at the mo - why did i wish for her to be an early walker?!

We laid a lawn in our back garden yesterday so at last we have something for DD to crawl on outside (I say that 'we' laid it - it was actually more like DH laying it and me swanning around looking very busy with a hose, but actually doing nothing productive!)

I'm sending out DD's birthday party invites out in a couple of weeks so am just trying to finalise details - can't believe we've made it to this point in the calender!

BM and WW: Yeah sis was with ICC. She's not doing it htis year as she's working for a church in Truro and taking her youth group to Soul Survivor. I used to camp at Keswick when I was a kid (like 10-15yrs ago!) but i still remember it fondly. I can imagine we will get back into camping when dd is slightly bigger. My mum took me and my sister camping when sis was same age as dd is now!

Morning!

All four of ds's top teeth came in over the weekend and he is now grinding them together and pouting a la mick Jagger in a "hmm, what are these things in my mouth?" kinda way.

Our morning routine is now action jackson - ds still has his bottle in bed with me but then finds my hands and demands I walk him to en suite so he can see dh get ready - he joins in with the teethbrushing and combing of hair while I stand behind half asleep and wistfully looking over at the bed..

SIL had her 20 week scan last week and everything is fine - can't wait to see ds's new cousin in Sept. - a new baby to coo over without having to do the night feeds

foxy - wow, that's impressive! Must be such a shock for them when they get loads of teeth at once!

DD went to the beach with my parents yesterday whilst I was at work and loved it. She would have walked straight into the sea if they hadn't of stopped her and especially enjoyed stopping and waving at every elderly person sitting on every bench along the seafront!

Anyone else been having a torrid time with theor LO's teething, poor DD has been waking up screaming in the middle of the night every night for the past week or so and can't seem to settle down again. I'm exhausted!
Night before last she cried more or less non stop from 7pm till 2am...I was tearing my hair out by that point. Better last night thank goodness, got a feeling we may be seeing a few teeth at once this time again.

blobsmummy - that's great dd loved the beach - which one was she at? Did she sleep like a log that night after ll the sea air?!

RachelPross we've been v. lucky with the top teeth, didn't bother ds at all apart from mega amount of drooling through the day.

What are you all thinking of getting your lo's for their first birthdays? We're thinking a swing for garden or something similar..

Still to get round to getting professional photos done of us as a family (you know the white background type) and we've had a 'make a caste of your babys hand' kit for months now and not got round to doing that either - need to get my finger out!

Haven't even thought of a present for his birthday yet, Trying to organise a Baptism for the 27th May, 1st birthday party for the 16th June and can't forget about cleaning out a flat we are selling on the 11th May and moving into our new house on the 14th may. And my DH has decided this is the time to spend two weeks offshore in the North sea, one week still to go before he is home. DS can't keep my eyes off him for a second, as he is not crawling properly, but doing a leopard crawl type thing and into everything he shouldn't. Loves empty moving boxes. Who needs toys anyway???? Got a room full of toys and loves my magazines.

As I recall, there are like a million babies on here born on the 16th! Is that right? DD is one of them!

(((Rachelpross))) Teething is HORRID! Dd is unbearabel... to the point i'm like SEND IT BACK! but it's a little late for that! My only revelation the other day was that dd can have a fulkl 5ml calpol not hte teensie 2.5ml I've been giving up to now so I try and keep her topped up with 3 full doeses of 5ml in the day and save one for over night. Anbesol liquid is stronger than calgel but the instructions say it can be used for babies. It helps but calpol is the only help here! the other night dd screamed from 11pm-3am. it's awful isn't it? hope it gets better soon.

In other news dd is 21lb 5oz and due to crawling and not really eating much extra seems to be developing a waist which is hiterto unseen! (She is slightly round!) it's all good news as some of her clothes that wouldn't fir before are starting to fit again and now we don't need to rush and buy any extra!

Same here, DD has also developed a waistline (kind of). No more pudgy tummy in the middle, het tracksuit bottoms that fit her a few weeks ago are now falling down on her!! She's turning into a long thin thing instead of a short round one.
Other thing is her hair is growing like nothing on earth and has developed this bizarre curly bit at the back. Its very straight all over the top but it gets to the back of her neck and goes crazy. Very funny though.
I'm still being stopped in the street by people cooing over the colour of her hair, dunno what it is about the ginger hair but little old ladies love it...strangers stop and talk to me and they also give DD money which is v odd. Made £3 last week to put in her savings. Makes me wish I'd been a red head, maybe I'd be better off now ;)
