I didn't realise you were that close to there LTH, I'll remember next time. I visit a friend a few miles north of Brighton and we've taken the kids there a couple times and no doubt will again at some time later in the summer.
They definitely need to get those doors sorted out on Thomas though, virtually impossible with a baby and an excited LO!!

GN list got xposted with laughalot I think ...

Liz - co-sleeping is what we do, the baby is in our bed basically, have done this with all of ours now. High need babies are just that, high need, sears site explains them well. Baby wearing is using slings to carry baby around or just carrying them yourself for a lot of the time. Sears talks about all of these I think. Good luck with the house.

EAH - hope you have a good birthday. Not sure what you could ask for, maybe a spa treamtment like a massage?

Laughalot - We're going to have a bet on the national here and let the kids pick one each too. I'll play along though

Love the look of the Bumbo! And thanks for the info on the baby einstein stuff wilkie... right, off to spend some money then...

Lizzzombie · 13/04/2007 11:40

Thanks for the attachement parenting links. I read through the same ones last night, but it just seems to talk in circles. Am I right in guessing that basically it is just what it says it is? You keep your baby(attached) to you for the majority of the time?

Also, I have one of those bouncy chair things you hang from the doorway. Is anyone else using those yet? Dylan is 12 weeks tomorrow and can hold his head pretty well. Just wondered if there was anything bad about those I am supposed to know too!

Wilks - bum seat looks so cute!

Nemo2007 · 13/04/2007 11:49

god am I the only one who cant wait to get the baby away..we have managed the last 2 nights not cosleeping and feel positively euphoric..pmsl

theUrbanDryad · 13/04/2007 12:08

Lizzz - there's something bad about all the cool things you can get for babies. bouncy door things, baby gyms and bumbo seats are supposed to be bad for babies posture, but IMO, so long as they're not in them for too long at a time it's fine, and there's far too much paranoia about babies in general. Zac loves his door bouncer (it's great for getting up wind too!)

hattie2 · 13/04/2007 12:11

Lizz - i've used the bouncy door thing and J is 12 weeks, he loves it (will prob find out it's bad for him now, but it was supposed to be OK when I bought it for dd 4 years ago ......)

JodieG1 · 13/04/2007 12:12

Liz - yes and it's more. It's the way you parent as well. I think this"Attachment Parenting is a philosophy based in the practice of nurturing parenting practices that create strong emotional bonds, also known as secure attachment, between the infant and parent(s). This style of parenting encourages responsiveness to the infant or child's emotional needs, and develops trust that their emotional needs will be met. As a result, this strong attachment helps the child develop secure, empathic, peaceful, and enduring relationships." Says it well and also it goes into more here it's about responding sensitively to their needs from baby onwards. It is a whole lifestyle really but there is a sliding scale of AP parents in that some are very AP and some less so. It's just finding what suits you and your baby.

theUrbanDryad · 13/04/2007 12:21

on an parenting scale of 1 to 10, 10 being "Carry round in a sling, co-sleep till they're 1 and bf till they self-wean' and 1 being "SWMNBN" i'm probably a 6 or 7, with a dollop of "winging it" for good measure!

how about everyone else?

ellieandhattie · 13/04/2007 12:30

I am probably around a 3!

JodieG1 · 13/04/2007 12:30

Hmm not sure, I do try and be as much AP as I can but I can't sling as I have a bad back and knee but end up lugging him round all the time lol, have a lie flat pram though. I'd say I'm an 8 or a 9, not sure I'll bf until he self weans but will do for a while yet and always co-sleep for ages anyway.
