Disaster here. I have food poisoning. Been sick 6 times and counting. DH is taking the day off work and we're praying he doesn't get it too, but I think it's something I ate and he didn't. I got a breakfast roll from a food van yesterday - a dodgy greasy spoon one - I am SUCH an idiot! 😫

Oh name I'm so sorry, I've had food poisoning and it's awful. I hope you feel better soon, if it continues then get to the gp. They'll want a sample but they'll be able to tell you what bacteria it is and may be able to give antibiotics to help.

You're not stupid, by the way. You ate from a food van and you have every right to expect standards to be just as high as everywhere else!

Came in to give DS his first bottle and he'd managed to turn himself 180 degrees, same as yesterday! I'm not sure how he does it as I've never managed to see him do that! He only does it in the morning though. When I put him down for bed he is tired so doesn't fidget about too much.

purpleviolet1 · 03/10/2017 10:22

It’s amazing coupester when they start moving around, ds is the same in his cot. In fact I just put him down and after 10 mins wondered why he hadn’t nodded off, popped my head In and he had turned 180 , on his front and actually had my book open and chewing on the cover Shock id forgotten I had left it there. It was a funny sight! He wasn’t best pleased when i took it off him. The funniest has got to be when he rolled right down , on his front and lying horizontal next to the foot of the cot with the camera (looks like a round ball) in his hands and trying to get it in his mouth! It looked hilarious , like he was telling the future from a crystal ball Grin He did that 3 times in one night. Needless to say we had to remove it out the cot and now it’s on top of the wardrobe but ideally we need a floating shelf.

@100. Have you got a camera? I have plugged in next door to me in bed. I like to see her. As well

@hugh. Sorry date got postponed but glad dd is better and roll on Sunday

@carol. Dd doesn't move in bed. Literally lays on back in one position - another reason why have an angel as looks so still

Tho she also has a sheet tucked over her which may help restrict her

@name. Oh no. Speedy recovery and hope dc don't get it

@purple. Maybe try leaving after the milk feed. Or does dd squawk/cry if you don't go in and offer something

I wouldn't put bedtime back. Babies our age really need to be in bed by 7 - tho Obv for some later works or they never see daddy

NameChange30 · 03/10/2017 16:13

Thanks everyone - still feeling rubbish and I'm wondering if it's a stomach bug rather than food poisoning. But finally stopped being sick this morning and was brave enough to take some paracetamol at lunchtime which helped.

On the up side DH now understands how knackering it is to get up with DS in the early hours and then look after him all day Wink

coupester
I asked for a phone call from the doctor and waited all day. I did collect a sample which DH took in for me (oh the glamour) but they messed us around and having told me to send it in are now saying they don't need it. Annoying!

Hope you're all having better days, can't be hard!

purpleviolet1 · 03/10/2017 16:32

Aww nice to hear from you name, hope you recover real fast. It can cause weakness so take it easy even when you think you are better.

Blondes- if I don’t offer something I he would stay up and play for ages and I don’t want him to get into the habit of being awake for long periods during the night. Ive decided to just give him
a small 3oz feed when he wakes if after 4.30ish as he is not having solids at the moment (keeps refusing, maybe as he still has a cold and is teething) so I think at the moment it is probably genuine hunger. I spent a bit of time this morning analysing his patterns. If he starts eating but continues to wake I’ll have to reassess.

However dm managed to get him to take a couple teaspoons earlier by gently holding his arm down so he couldn’t hit her out the way. It took her a while but she managed. every time I tried to gently hold his arm he wasn’t having it. Dm said it has to be gentle so he doesn’t feel restricted and I was being gentle but I just couldn’t do it

On the plane daddy had to hold dd arms or she would swipe while I was feeding

Didn't want to splatter other passengers

It isn't being mean

And yes offer milk if off food

NameChange30 · 03/10/2017 18:30

purple
Yes definitely feeling very weak, I had a tiny bit of bread which tasted amazing! Grin Don't want to overdo it though.

Hugh
Luckily we have some formula in the house as back up, and most luckily DS took the bottle, so DH gave him a bottle of formula a few times when I was just too ill to feed him. I have still been feeding him quite a bit though, DH has been bringing him to me in bed. When I finally spoke to the doctor she said it was good to keep breastfeeding him, maybe to give him antibodies in case he gets ill too - God forbid! We are really hoping he doesn't!

DH is feeling ill now, but not as bad as me thankfully Confused

coupester · 03/10/2017 21:20

@NameChange30 umm, well from my experience of food poisoning I learnt that it doesn't often cause sickness... more diarrhoea so perhaps you're right and it's a stomach bug.

@purpleviolet1 it is amazing, but we had to remove a mobile that was hanging over his cot as it was quite a low one and he could reach up and grab the toys, his idea was to grab one and viciously shake until all the others had fallen off! I was worried the whole thing might fall down on him!

He does the same thing on his playmat. I put him in one place and if I leave the room for anything then by the time I come back he's turned himself round or has manoeuvred himself half off it and onto the floor!

DS was too tired this evening to eat his peas, he messed up his naps a bit this morning and that threw him off for the rest of the day. Tomorrow is swimming and a church group so fingers crossed we can still get the naps in!

purpleviolet1 · 03/10/2017 22:47

Aww @coupester

Hope tonight is a good night for everyone, and hope you feel better by the morning @NameChange30

So tired today. Hopefully get to sleep quickly

OP posts:
coupester · 03/10/2017 23:15

DH woke DS for his final bottle and he cried so much. Think his little tooth was really hurting him. He kept rolling onto his side so I couldn't change his nappy and he didn't drink much, just fell back to sleep. He's not woken up since yet but is moving quite a bit.

I put some anbesol on his gum so hopefully that helped.

I hope everyone has a good night!

100yearsdotcom · 03/10/2017 23:26

Yes carolann I generally leave her to it!

100yearsdotcom · 03/10/2017 23:30

blondes would live to get a camera but can't afford one - dh is going to see about rigging up a Web Cam or something to be on an internal network to our phones - very handy with the tech thankfully! I'd love the sensor mat that you have too cos my DD once asleep is so still and quiet!

100yearsdotcom · 03/10/2017 23:33

Name hope you're feeling much better! X

Carolann8584 · 04/10/2017 07:22

Almost had a 12 hour night! Apart from 20 minutes for a 4am feed.

8oz at 6:15, bed asleep by 6:35. Df at midnight had 4oz then woke at 4 and had another 4oz then straight back to sleep til 6:28!!

Had another leaky nappy. Think it's cos she's sleeping on her belly everything was soaked at the front, and the back/bum area of the nappy was almost completely dry

coupester · 04/10/2017 07:28

We had a leaky nappy too but that was probably because DS was in so much pain when we woke him for df that he was crying and screaming, and kept turning on his side so I couldn't change his nappy. He's happier this morning, thank goodness.

We also have a stinking cold and when sneezes huge trails of snot come out😢😢

Guess better out then in

Dd also raises her arms when ask her if she wants a cuddle. This melts my heart so much 💓💓

purpleviolet1 · 04/10/2017 08:52

Good night for us too, sleep at 7pm, awake at 5am for a quick 3oz and asleep until I woke up at 7.15am

I don’t know why I was trying to fix something which wasn’t broken. One quick feed is doable for me but I think I got a bit obsessed with eliminating all night feeds as I thought I wouldn’t be able to sustain / cope with a night feed for too long without it triggering health issues. Thankfully I feel ok
