Aww Hugh bless your dd! Ds went through a phase of disliking baths, the crying really stressed me out but we got some ducks and dh taught him
How to splash and now he splashes really hard lol

MotherofA · 24/09/2017 22:18

Lol troodie well we were eating it anyway so I thought why not give her a bit 😜
Hugh same here , I hate swimming and often just want to chill or intend to do something and then get carried away doing crap in the house .
Carol she looks beaut bless her . Good weekend with sc?
Purple ah that's lovely ! Glad you had a nice one .

MotherofA · 24/09/2017 22:27

Oh DD hated baths for ages . Then she liked them and now we have a leak so I have to shower her which is great Hmm

purpleviolet1 · 25/09/2017 02:11

Ds threw another bottle up Sad drenched his gro bag had to strip the cot etc. Now he won't sleep and just keeps crying Sad think he might want more milk but feel reluctant to give it, it was lucky I was there when he was sick as he was lying flat and couldve easily choked..

Just hoping he will nod off eventually but might offer a feed shortly as it'll have been over an hour by then since he was sick.

Very sniffly too now poor soul

Carolann8584 · 25/09/2017 07:25

Hope you managed to settle your LO purple

DD most be having a growth spurt, had double porridge and veg yesterday plus above average feeds then had df of 5oz and woke at 3 for 4oz feed.

purpleviolet1 · 25/09/2017 07:31

It was a long night carol 😧 settled at 3ish but was up on and off crying (sometimes during his sleep) and then awake at 06:50. Just given him a wee 2oz (he didn't seem particularly bothered) but think I'll offer small feeds throughout the day so that he won't hopefully be as bad if he is sick. Hopefully keep him hydrated that way.

His nose is totally blocked and I've been using the nasal aspirator, sniffle babe etc. He's got a bad cough as well (which is causing some of the vomiting I think) Plus the teething / rosy cheeky and sore BCG site Sad poor soul. Am just sitting beside him whilst he is playing in his cot now.

Will try keep as closely to his routine for naptimes as possible but hopefully he'll sleep longer as he didn't get much sleep at all last night.

Any advice? Won't offer solids today as I don't think he will take it anyway but even if he does don't think it'll help...

Poor ds @purple. Def under the weather :(

He shouldn't keep being sick. Does doc think he has a virus ? I would offer food

All

Luckily I love the heat - unless preg - and seems dd loves warm
Temp as well tho Obv been in shade all day

Beach day yesterday. Everyone spoke to her. As they do when out in evenings - she smiles at them and they smile talk and she beams back. Having cuddles with complete strangers

Weekends vary. Sometimes see friends. Someday chill at home and recently dd older sis takes her out for a few hours

You poor things, must be miserable for him and exhausting for you Sad
No advice except trust your instincts. FWIW I think offering milk little and often sounds very sensible.
And a recommendation, when DS had a cold we found Sterimar Baby (nasal spray for babies) was good. It did help to clear his sinuses a bit.
Good luck and I hope he gets better soon.

purple hope he gets better soon.

I have had a really bad couple of weeks, another bout of mastitis, just about recovered. Twins are still not sleeping through the night and I feel like a walking zombie, I'm not sure whst else to do, as an example, dd was upfrom

Abacha · 25/09/2017 12:52

Dd was up from 2.30 am just giggling. I'm not sure if they are eating enough they are on 6oz every 3 hours. Ds normally finishes the bottle I have tHough of increasing it but everything I've read said not more than 6oz of breastmilk at a time. Its difficult because if they were feeding directly, I will have no idea the amount being consumed.

I've started weaning so they share a pouch of ella's kitchen in the evening. Is that enough or should they be having more? They also have porridge in the morning, I gave them aptamil one and Dd came out in a rash in mouth and neck area, they were ok with cow and gate one, so she might have been allergic to something in the aptamil one.

I haven't noticed any signs of teething, what should I be looking out for? I weighed them last tuesday ds is 19 pounds and dd is 16pounds.

Oh purple I'm so sorry, I really hope your DS gets better soon and I hope you get some rest too.

abacha I'm so sorry you're having such a rough time. I noticed we hadn't heard from you for a while and I hoped you were ok. Well done you for continuing to bf after all your mastitis, I hope you're feeling my better now.

I have no idea how much breast milk a baby should have, but my DS is on 7oz of formula every 3ish hours.

With regards to weaning, I know when DS has had enough because he starts refusing food and gets really grumbly. I give him the same amount of milk as normal and if he's eaten enough solids then just won't drink as much milk. He doesn't eat much in the way of solids at all - a single Ella pouch can last 3 meals.

Hope that helps! It's poosplosions round here Confused

purpleviolet1 · 25/09/2017 19:49

Thanks all

@Blondeshavemorefun Yes doc put it down to viral. He wasn't snotty at all when we saw the doc and it was one of the questions asked. But shortly after the appt he started sneezing and coughing Sad

We had quite a routine getting ready for bed - vapour plug in, used nasal spray and nasal aspirator, snuffle babe applied on chest back and soles of feet, pillow spray on pillow, cream on BCG, Vaseline on poor red nose and calpol

Thankfully he had his naps at usual times today and settled well at 7 as usual too. Hopefully tonight will be better than last...

I've never had a humidifier, can you recommend one h@HughLauriesStubble ?

@Abacha sorry to hear about the mastitis, well done for keeping on with breastfeeding! I've recently increased ds formula feeds up to 7oz and he was taking maybe 3-5 tablespoons of solids per meal so hope that helps (recently been refusing solids altogether. It's been over a week since he had any now.Hopefully he will want them soon)

@Carolann8584 Enjoy sensory tomorrow. We are hoping to join a class soon too. Let us know how it goes.

Abacha
Really sorry to hear you've been struggling with mastitis and difficult nights. Hope things improve for you very soon!
I have been feeding on demand so I would just offer milk until they don't want any more, obviously that means milk is sometimes wasted if you put more in the bottle and they don't drink it all. I haven't researched it though and don't know if it's different for twins.
We talked about teething signs not long ago, if you have time to read back I think it was only one or maybe two pages back. For DS the signs are red cheek(s), gums feel hot, he chews things more and harder than usual, and he is very fussy when feeding, refuses the breast or latches on but immediately cries and stops - will only take the breast if we give him teething gel first and when it's really bad that doesn't work either.

purple
Best of luck for tonight, hope it's a better one.

Last night DS slept for 3 x 3 hour stretches which is a definite improvement based on the last month! I'm pretty sure he's got into the habit of feeding through the night (which I thought he would, I was feeding him to sleep for the endless wakings because I was too exhausted to do anything else, even though I knew it wasn't ideal) Anyway I am now focusing on reducing night feedings as well as the bedtime sleep training. I'm really hoping that working on those two things will eventually allow me to get a decent length of uninterrupted sleep... I live in hope!!

coupester · 25/09/2017 23:18

@NameChange30 that sounds really promising! Sounds like you're doing a great job with sleep training, I hope it continues for you!

@Abacha Glad I could help Smile

I'm staying at my sisters at the moment, she went on holiday and I'm helping my mum look after her bunnies (I go home tomorrow though). One of them chewed through the power cable to my video monitor! I'm going to have to see if I can buy a new one before I go home tomorrow

At least she lives in a decent sized town, unlike me, so I might be able to find one!

Carolann8584 · 26/09/2017 06:43

Morning all how was everyone's night?

DD woke with the birds again. 5 on the dot. Changed her and offered a feed which she didn't want, she just wanted a chat. She had her df at 11:30 and had 5oz.

purpleviolet1 · 26/09/2017 11:59

Thankfully Ours was back to our new normal - woke at 2am, I fed him straight away and he took it (as I knew he hadn't taken in much milk during the day). Straight back to sleep and woke at 7am.

OP posts:
NameChange30 · 26/09/2017 12:38

Thanks coupester Smile Hope you found a new power cable without too much trouble!

purple Sounds like a great night, I'm jealous happy for you Grin How is your DS today, any better?

We managed to get to 00.30am before feeding DS (he woke up an hour after bedtime but DH settled him) so that was good. He did wake up quite a bit after that so I'm still knackered, but if we can get back to a longer stretch at the beginning of the night, that's a start, at least!

The hardest thing I find with sleep training is deciding what order to do things in and what to work on next, there is so much to change that it can be overwhelming, and it seems too much to change everything at once. Not sure whether to try the bedtime strategy for every night waking and nap or whether that would just result in much less sleep for him and us!
