Mastitis and a sleepy baby

I think I have a mild case of mastitis (flu symptoms and red sore patch on breast) which I had before but went away within 24hours by itself. I only began to get symptoms this afternoon but my 7week old has slept all day apart from waking to feed which is not usual! I'm now finding I need to wake him as my boobs feel like they are going to explode. Should I pump and leave him to sleep? For context he might have 2x 3hr naps at night but the rest are usually 1.5-2hrs. At his last feed I woke him after 3hours and now he's approaching 4hrs. Does my being sick affect him?

Also, a mixture of sore boobs and worrying about him mean I'm unable the sleep and take advantage of this quiet timeSad

Sorry no recent experience of this so can't really remember whether it affects baby but I didn't think so as I thought way back when I fed mine you were encouraged to continue to feed from that side

Just looked this up and it says

But you can continue to nurse your baby. In fact, breastfeeding usually helps to clear up infection, and nursing will not harm your baby. Although mastitis can be discouraging and painful, it is usually easily cleared up with medicine.

So it doesn't look like it should effect your baby. If he's not awake to feed then express as it will help clear up mastitis to move the milk
