Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I tested end of April last year, 4 days before our wedding anniversary.
We had a dirty weekend planned and I felt ill the whole weekend

LowFatMilkshake · 28/03/2007 09:07

BP - dont take the specs off, as anxious as I was I still could'nt help being a bit excited as well - always hopeful, and this time last year I was lucky!

Indith · 28/03/2007 09:21

I tested very early, mainly because we'd had a broken condom and though I took the MAP I I was pg th weekend before I was due.

Strangely enough the fact that ds is still waking every 2 hours, has gone back to fussing from 5am onwards and the formula at night thing is not going well and seems to be causibg more upset than is worth I've not been put off having more!

LowFatMilkshake · 28/03/2007 09:32

I kept the PG tests for both my babies until well after thier birth - infact DH found DS in the cabinet last week and came down saying "There's a positive PG test in the bathroom cupboard" - he had a really worried look on his face I can tell you, I put him out of his misery and he threw it away

glassslipper · 28/03/2007 10:05

lol. i still have the +ve test from DD1 - 3 years on

babypowder · 28/03/2007 10:16

I too have the +ve test from DD1. I thought I was the only one weird enough to keep a stick upon which I had weed!

LowFatMilkshake · 28/03/2007 10:17

I got really paranoid about which PG tests to use! I worked out each time I had M/C's I had used a pink dot test. So with DS I found a cheap 99p test in Savers, it showeved positve bang on 4 weeks and I had my baby - it's silly looking back, but the things that go through you're head are bizzare

LittleMissLate · 28/03/2007 11:46

Can I join you? Have been lurking for a while - dd (asleep in her cot at the mo ) born 4th Dec after keeping me waiting nearly two weeks (hence the screen name)!

Still bf though painfully slow weight gain - hv suggesting weaning and she seems interested when I'm eating so I'm planning to have a go next week. I've been reading some of the blw threads and know it would be disapproved of! Quite keen for her to be happy with some solids before I go back to work in 9 weeks...

Generally absolutely knackered as still up twice every night (about 2am and 5am) - any tips on extending the night sleeping? (she is refusing all bottles)

look forward to chatting with everyone

margo1974 · 28/03/2007 12:11

4 th December? - that's my birthday!

Do you feed her while she's asleep just before you go to bed?

margo1974 · 28/03/2007 12:12

where's my manners...welcome Little Miss Late

Indith · 28/03/2007 12:22

Hello littlemiss!

I was exactly 2 weeks late so I'm really Jan but don't tell anyone

If you ever figure out the sleep thing let me know I'm still feeding every 2 hours

Have you tried Nuk teats? Had trouble getting ds to take a bottle but he took these straight away. Not that giving a bottle of formula at bedtime has made a blind bit of difference but hey ho!

LittleMissLate · 28/03/2007 12:26

Hi margo1974 - Yes, I do feed her as I go to bed - she's fed & put to bed about 7pm then I "dreamfeed" at about 10pm as I go to bed (she generally doesn't wake up but will feed for approx 10 mins then, sometimes longer and sometimes from 2nd side too). My mother suggested not doing the dreamfeed as she stopped with my brother and he was sleeping though by about 7 weeks . Not convinced!

LittleMissLate · 28/03/2007 12:28

Hello Indith - Nuk is one brand I haven't tried (have a drawful of various Boots/Tommee Tippee/Avent/Mam teats of various flows!). Don't think they have them in my local Boots/Tesco but will look next time I'm shopping elsewhere!

glassslipper · 28/03/2007 12:49

welcome littlemisslate.

why dont you try one night without the dream feed and see what happens? she may surprise you and go until about 2? if you get get the feeds down to one a night that would help....try it.

I never gave my dd a dream feed and she found her own natural rhythm. now she goes to bed about 9.15, was waking at 4 for a feed and then at 7. but then it went from 9.15 to 7

margo1974 · 28/03/2007 13:19

my dd sometimes sleeps through but I do consider the norm to be that she wakes at least once through the night

LittleMissLate · 28/03/2007 14:01

On the rare occasion she does just wake once I feel really refreshed in the morning - would be very happy if we could get to that and could probably survive being back at work with just one wake up!

castlesintheair · 28/03/2007 14:18

Hi Littlemisslate, I have no advice for getting your LO to sleep through the night other than packing them with milk during the day, giving them a bath then bunging them in bed around 7/8pm and keeping your fingers crossed That's what I've been doing with DD2 and she's been sleeping through the night since she was 9 weeks old. I'm no bottle expert, but I use the Avent ones for DD2's couple of formula feeds. Could you try giving your LO some in a cup. Or is she too young? You'd think I might know by now!

Good luck with the tests AQ. Hope you are feeling better soon.

I've still got all my pg tests. Some of which are 5 and a half years old. Glad I'm not the only freak

My ds likes Nuk and chicco physiological {sp] teats, don't know if you can get them in England though. He goes from boob to bottle with great ease and has been sleeping through the night for a while now. I think it is the formula, as dd was a rubbish sleeper and I exclusively breastfed her for 18 months nearly.

LittleMissLate · 28/03/2007 14:32

afternoon nap time - having trouble feeding more during the day as she's not a particularly hungry baby - if I try to feed her at shorter intervals she just isn't interested and messes around We don't have bath as part of our night time routine as she is usually less relaxed afterwards (actually only bathing every two or three days, usually after leaky nappy ).

I'll brace myself and try omitting the dreamfeed (perhaps not tonight as dh is away with work). Will let you know how I get on...

PS In case you haven't guessed I'm new to "smileys" and am trying them all out!

SachaF · 28/03/2007 14:53

I 'knew' at two weeks. At 4-5 weeks my mum was visiting for Easter (I lived in Hungary) so I didn't test until hubby came back from shops at 6 weeks with a test, as I'd been saying I thought I was pg for a few weeks to him. After finding instructions on internet (can't speak Hungarian!) we had a dud test! So another night of waiting then back 2 shops and we waited all of 5 seconds for the test 2 be positive!
I'm sure you'll all agree the long wait was worth it! me, couldn't have wished for a better christmas present

SachaF · 28/03/2007 15:06

LML, I wake mine fully at about 10/10.30 and feed for a good 40 mins, have nappy off time for 10, a little massage, then cuddle and bed again. I found dream feeds impossible - he wouldn't suck at all! but then he wakes 3ish then 7ish. However we have gone back to 2 then 5 this week - he has slept in 5 diff beds in 7 nights! (see prior post about van breakin).
But, by waking him fully for each night feed I don't get woken every hour and a half! Might be worth trying? Probably no help what so ever!!!
I admire these people who are contemplating work - no idea where I would fit 38 hours plus commute in to my week at the mo! . Is anyone still bf-ing and working? And Indith, hats off to you doing essays and the like - and using real nappies - you're life must seem quite unusual to your fellow students! Do you ever sleep?

margo1974 · 28/03/2007 15:23

I agree with Sacha, Indith. I dropped out of Uni because I found it too hard to work to earn money and study at the same time.

I now see that as a feeble excuse, and I should have moved away to university, but I was "in love" and stayed at home to study and commuted into London. But I may not have had the girls, met my husband etc. So I think I will return to studying once my youngest is at school.

margo1974 · 28/03/2007 15:24

What I meant to say was "I really admire you Indith" (I wish I would stop blathering on about myself)

glassslipper · 28/03/2007 15:55

hi all, just got back from Drs after giving DD her 2nd jab. She did very well. sleeping now. as is dd1 who is tired from preschool and walking all over town.

jabberwocky · 28/03/2007 16:40

Ds2 went to waking twice in the night several weeks ago and shows no sign of going back to just the one feed His morning nap schedule is totally off as well!
