Thanks, of course he's gorgeous, he's mine He really is a little fatty though, loads of chins and rolls of fat and dimples. My dd was like a little doll compared to him. He's so strong too, i'm developing muscles in my arms, just wish I could do something with my belly!

babypowder · 22/03/2007 10:51

Oh, Lucy, he sounds just adorable! I do love little cherubic babies - DD2 is like that as well!

And I completely understand the muscles in arms but not in belly bit as well. I've lost so much weight, but I have a soft, fat tummy that I just can't shift. Very at all those who have returned to their pre-preg shape.

Indith · 22/03/2007 12:20

Lucy, on the boy charts he is around 91st for weight and 50th for length.

It is around lunchtime and once again I am trying to get ds to nap! He really doesn't do them at all, tends to just hav a 5min catnap very once in a while but he does get pretty grouchy so I'm attempting to get him to do a longer nap in the middle of the day, I don't mind if he just catnaps the rest of the time! He is pretty tired right now though as we went swimming which he loved and spent a good half hour in the pool!

babypowder · 22/03/2007 20:24

Umm ... am i the only one here?

glassslipper · 22/03/2007 20:39

hi guys, dd2 still not well so another difficult night/day. havent read thread but hope you're all ok.

margo1974 · 22/03/2007 20:40

i'm here

wellieboot · 22/03/2007 20:45

Hi I'm around too.

Just having a quick flick down - you guys certainly do clock up some chatting!

pre-preg shape - I wish.

dd has her second lot of vaccinations next week, am dreading it as last time she was so upset and unsettled for about a week afterwards. Found it horrible taking her to have them too, she was so sweet and smiling and then they stuck the needle in her leg...I was in tears! Did anyone else find this?

Indith · 22/03/2007 20:54

I was wondering where the evening crowd was!But I'm about to be distracted by ben and jerrys and red dwarf. What am I going to do with myself when I've got through them all?

Olihan · 22/03/2007 20:59

Hi BP, I'm here! Just finished a mountain of ironing so MN is my reward!

BP, your nurse sounds like a bit of a dragon. I'm a real Oilatum hater too, my bath still has a scum line that will not shift from when ds1 was all dry as a baby. I might try almond oil on his dry bits, all the cold weather here is making him a bit crusty!

I've been having a nightmare with ds2's sleeping at the moment. He's okay at night, especially now he's learned to latch himself on! But during the day he is awful, especially in the afternoon. He goes from being fine to being hideously overtired in seconds, it seems and then screams for a good 5-10 minutes before he drops off. It doesn't matter whether he's in my arms, the sling, the cot, the carseat, the pram, he just screams until he's all done then zonks. He then wakes at the slightest noise so I'm up and down the stairs like a yo yo until he finally manages to fall into a deep enough sleep when nothing wakes him. Yesterday afternoon he screamed/slept on and off for 3 hours until I lost the plot and took the 3 of them out for a walk. Ds2 fell asleep at 4pm and woke up at 10pm. I was so frustrated because I knew he was shattered but he just couldn't fall into a deep sleep. Today wasn't as bad so I'm hoping it's just a blip on the road to 3 nice long naps a day [ironic].

Lucy, your ds sounds like my ds1. He was a great big chubster, all squidgy and gorgeous! Ds2 is a real skinny minny in comparison at the same age, considering he was a pound and three quarters bigger at birth.

Weight wise, I'm the same weight as I was pre-pg but I'm a clothes size bigger on my bottom half thanks to the peculiar shape my stomach and hips have become .

lucy5 · 22/03/2007 21:17

Hello again, thanks Indith! I would love to see what ds was on a Spanish percentile!!!!!! Off the scale , probably!

babypowder · 22/03/2007 22:19

Wellie, with DD1 I had to take DH along with me to hold her while she had her injections. I just felt so awful, and would always end up in tears. With DD2 its a bit easier, but I do hate the look she gives me as the needle goes in ... the poor wee girl has been a bit of a pin cushion with all the blood tests she's had, and now the injections

It is incredible how quickly they get over it, though! I'd be moaning about it for hours if I had to get a needle in each thigh (you should have heard me whinge about anti-D!), to say nothing about having my foot stabbed for blood A quick cuddle and a little feed and they're all grins and gurgles again!

castlesintheair · 23/03/2007 08:13

Hi WB, what time in Richmond on Tuesday? Have something in the morning otherwise free. Who is coming? I'm going to be at a church which has a cafe attached & very child friendly. Near to Green so good for parking & near station. Will have a look and see if there is anything else nearer to station. I tend to go nearer Richmond Hill/River.

wellieboot · 23/03/2007 09:51

BP - I know - dd is much braver than me - I was a right whinger after preg blood tests!

I think the worst thing is that they are so trusting and look at you with a 'it's alright mummy won't let anything horrible happen to me' sort of look when you go in - makes me feel so guilty...

Calmriver · 23/03/2007 11:54

are any of you meeting on Tues taking any older babies/kids?

castlesintheair · 23/03/2007 12:05

What is this meet-up Calm? WB just asked me if I was around on Tuesday. Is there something offical going on?

OP posts:
Calmriver · 23/03/2007 14:15

yes, is a coffee place just in the town(richmond) okay to meet at,then we can decide from there? just thats probably easier...like say, lets find a starbucks or coffee rep.? should we say to meet at 11am?

Will have to take mobile no's

mine is 07854 786670

Indith · 23/03/2007 16:01

ds is napping

Ok so he is on me but has been asleep for more than 5 mins!

Think the light in the morning is ruining my nights. As in still have waking every 2/3 hours but now as soon as gets a bit light we are screwed, he has blackout lining on his curtains.

But the line-up for cambidge folk festival is out and that makes me happy!

babypowder · 23/03/2007 20:27

OK, this is what DD1 ate today (she's 4.9) (I'm too scared to post this on a food thread! ):

A mouthful or 2 of cornflakes
A bit of pizza at nursery
2 probiotic yoghurt drinks
1/2 tin tomato soup with 2 slices of baguette
2 boxes of raisins
Some popcorn
A glass of orange juice
A few pieces of stir-fried pork, a tiny forkful of veg and a spoon of rice.

And obviously all the fresh air she could swallow.

I know that she has a tiny stomach, and that she doesn't need to eat much, but this seems ridiculous. It is SOOO much easier for me to BF DD2, knowing exactly what she's getting and knowing that she's definitely getting enough, than putting myself through the torture of watching DD1 eat.

glassslipper · 23/03/2007 20:48

sounds ok to me babypowder. my dd (3) ate this today:

large beaker of milk
small bowl weetabix minis - chocolate ones (without milk)

1/3 apple

baked beans on toast (1/4 of a tin and 1/2 slice bread)

1 biscuit

1/4 ham sandwich
1/3 pack hula hoops
10 grapes
1 yoghurt

large beaker milk

margo1974 · 23/03/2007 20:48

My DD1 (2 and a half) ate
half a slice of toast
inside of a cheese and pickle sandwich aka cheese!
2 crumpets
Fromage frais
2 cups milk
1 water

Offered and refused

Blueberries
Banana
Apple
Cucumber

So just carbs today!

glassslipper · 23/03/2007 20:50

isnt this interesting?? didnt mention that my dd refused : banana, fruit juice, raisins, fruit bar

Elibean · 23/03/2007 22:24

Evening (feels like middle of the night) all...sorry to have been awol, life just got strangely chaotic for some reason. Can't even think or remember why now?! Though we are off for weekend to dh's neice's wedding, and packing for four is new to me...

Just wanted to belatedly say 'yeay!' Castles on the court case

And add that dd2 is another (visually, anyway) cherubic baby - she's just over 6kg, but as she's not hugely tall that makes for several chins, gorgeously chubby thighs, and big eyes that disappear into porky little cheeks when she smiles. Do I sound biased, at all?

As for dd1, she's not overweight or even cherubic (ha, I wish) by any means but when I compare what she's eaten today......ah well, we're food lovers in this family. Says she, having just snaffled half a G&B Easter egg I was supposed to be keeping for someone else...

bebespain · 24/03/2007 07:55

Hi all - not posted for ages but keep lurking...

Olihan your post struck a chord with me as ds too has a terrible time trying to sleep through the day, he gets sooo overtired and is recently by-passing day time naps all together. Still he´s doing really well at night so can´t complain

Anyone else find their LOs hate bath time? Mine was an absolute star until 2 weeks ago and has gone from loving his bathtime to hating it. And I mean HATING it! We now have the screaming abdabs from start to finish. I just can´t work out what has changed as I am doing everything in exactly the same way (shrugs shoulders in despair)

babypowder · 24/03/2007 10:15

Eli, we're real foodies in this house, too! Up until about 6 months ago, DD2 ate everything - absolutely everything. Now, she's fussy and finicky. Please God, let it be a phase ... my (jewish) mother will go mad if she comes over and sees DD2 eating like this!

Bebespain, I only bath DD1 two or three times a week (see eczema post passim), and I find that she screams and struggles for the first couple of seconds, but then really begins to enjoy it. We're using a tummytub, which is the most fantastic thing ever, and she really gets to work out her legs and back muscles in it.

Indith · 24/03/2007 13:28

Day god knows how many of the attempt to get ds to have a post lunch nap and as per usual I keep having to go in and replace dummy/crank up mobile. One day he'll get the message! How on arth did I manag to get bedtime sorted so quickly when I'm using exactly the same tactics minus the bath?

Ds finally took a bottle last night and when he woke at 11 got presented with formula, took a bit longer than bf but after some fuss he took 4oz and SLEPT. I didn't have to get up every 2 hours to feed him he slept!
Things got a bit odd around 3 though, he woke up with a screach so I went to see what was wrong and he had sicked up a bit in his cot so I changed the sheet and his grobag and he then projectile vomited all over the floor, then he wanted to feed so he did and projectile vomited that up too. After a change of sleepsuit and another grobag he had a tiny little suck and went off to sleep again until 7.15!

Not entirely sure what that was all about really, very odd to projectile like that so long after a feed, we had projectile last time he took formula but that was straight away so assumed it was due to taking it too quickly. An intolorance would make him vomit right away rather than 3.5 hours after wouldn't it?

Anyway we shall repeat the process tonight and see if we can have it minus the vomit this time.
