Ohh and I "thin" I've worked out who GS is, but am not feeling overly bright at the moment, can anyone give me a clue that will help?

castlesintheair · 21/03/2007 16:27

Hello LaBoheme and welcome back I thought about you yesterday. I'm so happier things are going well for you now.

WB, I live in Richmond! Where are you?

Any one else worried about bubs putting on too much weight rather than not enough?

Hannah is now 15lbs at 11 weeks and is up on the 99th percentile

Is it true you can never overfeed a BF baby, do I just need to chill out?

Think I am starting to obsess about stuff which makes me think I am starting down the PD route

weirdbird · 21/03/2007 16:33

I am in Staines Castles

glassslipper · 21/03/2007 16:35

wb - chill out wrt weight. they dont eat too much breast milk - you are obviously doing really well

i'm sure you're right about who i am but think cinderella

weirdbird · 21/03/2007 16:45

See I was thinking Cinderella and not getting very far, looked at one of the old lists to see if that helped, but am feeling quite dense these days

castlesintheair · 21/03/2007 16:55

Yes, remember you told me before WB. Doh! See we all go a bit la la after having babies (my excuse anyway ). Re weight, don't worry, it will all even out eventually. I always think it's best not to get them weighed unless they have a medical problem, like mine, and then I still can't be arsed!

Re PND route, WB, I obsess about my DCs all the time which causes me to permanently hover on the PND borderline. The best thing is to try and have some time out. I'm currently trying to organise 2 afternoons of childcare so I can do some non-mummy stuff. It's been 5 years now non-stop for me and I am starting to really notice it.

babypowder · 21/03/2007 17:04

Wow, WB, you're obviously producing the creme de la creme of breastmilk! Congratulations! (and don't worry about the weight thing at all - Tiktok has posted some really good stuff on this on some of the feeding topics if you want to read more)

weirdbird · 21/03/2007 17:29

Castles - If we met in Richmond on Tuesday are you able to join us?

Also can you recommend somewhere to meet that will be pram / baby friendly that isnt too far from the train station?

weirdbird · 21/03/2007 17:36

Baby powder - My FiL always jokes that I must be making Gold Top

See I am getting her weighed reasonably regularly because of her medication as she is already having her first review on Friday due to the Huge increase in weight as she has put on over 2lbs since they last calculated it and when they are this tiny it does make a HUGE difference and she did have terrible reflux and I am not keen to wait till she starts getting worse before they increase it.

But I think it is this that is not helping my state of mind

babypowder · 21/03/2007 20:56

Oh, WB, I didn't mean to make light of your concerns . Of course if you're worried about it you should get advice. Much better that you address the things that are weighing on your mind (no pun intended) than let them really get you down.

I had a CRAP afternoon. DD2 had her 2nd lot of jabs, and this time I had to give her Calpol And then the Nurse Practitioner made me feel like the most neglectful parent because DD1s eczema has flared up. She only suffers with it in the winter, and then only inside her elbows. I don't treat her eczema normally - I just use almond oil to keep her skin moist, she only has porridge in the bath, we avoid soaps and heavily perfumed things - and it's usually under control. But it is pretty bad now on one arm. So we've come away with steroid cream, a really yucky emollient and a flea in our ear Still, I don't want DD1 scarred or suffering either, so I suppose its a good thing. I just hate being treated like a lentil-weaver!

accessorizewithbabysick · 21/03/2007 21:44

BP, don't guilt yourself about the ezcema thing, you do make an effort to keep in under control but it's hard when you've got a baby as well to deal with. What exactly was she berating you about? There are all sorts of things that make it flare up, sometimes it just happens. FWIW though, apparently some of the organic creams can help quite a lot (like calendula) if you're not keen on using the steroid. I've been meaning to buy some as both my ds's have it although only mildly.

WB, re: weight gain, my ds2 is also a little guzzler & very high on the % and I did spend some time worrying that I was doing something wrong. But honestly, if a baby's crying and sticking their tongue out and you're feeding on demand, what else can you do? People keep telling me that he feeds too much, and how big he is and now I've decided to take it as a compliment. My milk is making him very very very healthy!!

babypowder · 22/03/2007 09:57

AQ, she was basically having a go because I don't use any of the gloopy emollient creams that the doctors prescribe. DD1 doesn't like them - we call them tantrum-makers

In retrospect, though, I probably over-reacted She's just a little old-fashioned and doesn't really like all the 'new-age hippy' stuff I spout. That's probably why I get on so well with my HV

at having a progressive HV!

accessorizewithbabysick · 22/03/2007 10:05

Oh, fgs, I think parenthood hard enough without health professionals having a dig at everything. Do you mean stuff like oilatum?

lucy5 · 22/03/2007 10:16

hello!

Babypowder have you tried chickweed cream? Used to work a treat on my friend's ds.

I have a humungous baby too! He is just under 8 kilos and is 16 weeks. We don't have a weigh in facility in Spain, so I just take him to a baby machine at the local chemist. Just out of interest what percentile would he be on if he were in England. He's also 63 cms. It's hard to judge here as Spanish babies on the whole are quite small, so he looks huge.

Hope everyones babes are well and glad you had a good holiday Oli!

Welcome back La Boheme, I dip in and out all the time.

babypowder · 22/03/2007 10:25

AQ, I HATE Oilatum. I felt so pressured to use it when DD1 was tiny, but all it did was make her slippery and leave rings round the bath!

Lucy, I like the idea of chickweed cream. I usually make my own calendula cream in the summer time, but we've run out of our supply. I do find that almond oil keeps her skin nicely moist without every feeling greasy. I use the same on DD2s dry eyebrows.

I'll just potter off and find out where your LO is on the percentile chart.

lucy5 · 22/03/2007 10:27

Also for those of you borderline pnd , have you tried magnesium and vit b6? It worked wonders with me with dd. Fingers crossed this time I am ok.

babypowder · 22/03/2007 10:33

Lucy, just checked my charts - they are for girls, so you'll probably want to check with Indith or another mum-of-boys.

If he was a girl () he'd be just over the 75th centile for length and the 98th centile for weight. I bet he's just gorgeous!
