ha ha, i have that egg too! i thought we just liked our flat to be all tropical! i never believe it, its always orange and yes, ideal temp is freezing!

castlesintheair · 25/03/2007 13:51

AQ, hope you are ok? Sound's just like me. Are you taking Spatone? I find that helps. Good luck at doctor and let us know how you get on.

Calm, was going to wean DD2 this week (16 weeks) but she's a bit snotty so will start next week maybe.

Have a humdinger of a cold too. The DCs have had it too. This is what DS ate yesterday on a BAD day:
weetabix milk, 2 x slices toast honey, banana, yoghurt, diluted apple juice (breakfast)
chicken, mushroom, avocado risotto-y thing, apple, banana, 3 x gingerbread men biccies, diluted apple juice (lunch)
2 bananas, yoghurt, 3 pitta breads (light afternoon snack )
Pasticcio, 2 x mini cupcakes, drink (supper)
All home made of course

He's as thin as a rake and as I said this is a BAD day. Won't be doing this again as like AQ says, I'll get RSI!! I also fancied a break from the chaos which is my domestic life. Does anyone find it gets worse when their DH is around? I find it's like having a teenager living with us!!
DD1 ate half a banana, 2 yoghurts and one glass of milk all day She's having a very bad few days though.

AQ I do hope you can sort out your faint spells, Castles too. Suppose at some point one of your Drs has to figure it out!

Night nappies are trial and error I think. Friend of mine has dd who does all night in a boosted bamboozle and fleece wrap, she uses sheets and blanket though. Ds can do the night in a double boosted fluffle and fleece wrap but did 'accidently' buy a ME airflow which does 12 hours with the boosted fluffle. Depends if he is in fleecy bag or grobag since as I said befor grobag soaks up all the stuff that the fleece wrap is trying to let go! Fleece wrap I make sure covers whole nappy but don't pull it nice and tight like I do the daytime pul wraps.

margo1974 · 25/03/2007 18:10

Yes, I find that it takes double the time to get ready in the morning when DH is here. Grrr

If only he would have shower, get dressed and help me do the same with the DDs then take the dog for a walk THEN have breakfast it would work much better. Instead he goes downstairs for breakfast and then when I need to get on with something, he picks that time to take the dog for a walk. Thanks for your help buddy (not)

Also the egg... I have put another thermometer beside it (one that my dad gave me) and that one says it's 2 degrees cooler than the egg. Now I'm in a quandry, do I get a 3rd thermometer to see which one is wrong? I'm having a touch of Perfect Firstborn spilling over to the Neglected 2nd Child

glassslipper · 25/03/2007 18:33

forget about the thermometer and use your judgement. at this age if you are hot, baby will be hot. if you are cold, baby will be cold.

Olihan · 25/03/2007 21:41

Great news about the offer Margo, fingers crossed it all goes smoothly. Have you accepted it? I was so pleased when we got our offer and I didn't have to keep the house spotless anyomre!! God, it was so stressful, I was chasing the dcs round with a dustpan and brush and a damp cloth all day. And we had an offer within 48 hours, can't imagine what i'd've done if it had taken longer .

Was really when I read about weaning, then realised ds2 is almost the youngest and some of yours are almost 6 weeks older than him!! Those few weeks make such a difference at this age, don't they? I'm so shocked ds2 is 12 weeks - where's the last 3 months gone?

margo1974 · 25/03/2007 22:41

Yes Olihan- we accepted the offer, I don't want to be greedy and make people bid against eachother. Besides, I really liked the people who offered on our house and I don't THINK they're the type to muck us about.

I've noticed that DD2 has been watching us eat, I can't believe how quickly babies develop.

BTW I've put pictures up of my 2 girls.

I'm of to get ready for bed now. night night!

glassslipper · 26/03/2007 06:22

hmm. DD has decided that 5.30 is time to wake up for the day

babypowder · 26/03/2007 08:23

Margo, your girls are simply gorgeous

I managed to get DD2 to sleep in her cot until 4:00 this morning. Not stright through, though - I'd put her down, she'd sleep, and then just as I started to doze off she'd wake up. We had 5 or 6 goes at this throughout the night, until I gave up (selfishly) and brought her into bed to feed and sleep. Does anyone have any tips for getting LOs to sleep soundly in their cots?

(And at the risk of boring other mums, DD1 only ate 1oz of cheese, 1 piece of flatbread, half an ear of sweetcorn, a bit of roast beef and a roast potato yesteday. ARGH!)

Indith · 26/03/2007 10:04

Margo they are lovely! You've made me get around to doing my photos so ds is now on my profile looking all angelic.

Sorry BP but ds was one of those babies who slept better in his cot. I did however make is all cosy with a cot surround and at first put a pillow in about halfway down with a sht pulld tighly over it so he couldn't suffocate himself so that he felt more closed in. I too always ended up with him in bed by around 4 but bit by bit that has extended, sometimes he is ven in there until gone 7!

3rd night of giving formula at adult bedtime. Improved as in there was no sick or fuss but he only took 2.5oz and woke at 2, 4.30, 5.30, 6.30...The previous 2 nights of doing it he has slept til 5 then 7, I rather liked the whole idea of only getting up once at night!

glassslipper · 26/03/2007 10:17

margo and indith - you have lovely children I have been humbled into adding my dds to my profile too.

Indith · 26/03/2007 10:23

Can't see your profile glassy..I assume tis because of the name change it will be linked to your old one?

glassslipper · 26/03/2007 10:28

ah, just updated so you should be able to see now.

Indith · 26/03/2007 10:33

Aw they are a pretty pair.

LowFatMilkshake · 26/03/2007 10:40

Hi Everyone, sorry I have not been around - i can't believe how much the thread has grown.

We now have definite chicken pox! From last Tuesday to saturday DD had 1 spot and it was scabbed ove by saturday morning. By teatime she was covered! She is now at the itchy stage, and of course feelin a milion times beter so wanting to go out.

No pre-school, so no farm trip on Wednesday, can't take DS for 2nd jabs tomorrow as I have no one to have DD bah! And to cap it all the sun is coming out now and she wants to go to the park. DS is being rather sleepy and a little unsettled at night so it's likely he's got it to come too!

Can't beleive what some of your DC's will eat! a typical day for DD goes, refuse toast, refuse nutri grain bar, steal some of daddies frosties when he gets in at lunch time. Packet of pom bears then 1 bite of which ever tea we are having followed by a yoghurt! She sometimes deviates from this and about once a week she will eat everything and anything - sort of like a weekly shp before snacking the rest of the week!

I love the pictures of your children (and your house Margo!) I want to post mine but am worried MIL or SIL will come on here and identify me...oh well will just have to stop writing about them I guess and post my babies

margo1974 · 26/03/2007 12:45

aww - I am LOVING the pictures of all oyur beautiful babies

Milkshake, put your pictures on a private folder and make just us on this thread your mumsnet mates - only you guys can see my house pictures

accessorizewithbabysick · 26/03/2007 12:53

Ahh bless, what lovely pictures of beautiful children! Must do my profile, I started and never got it finished. Haven't managed yet to take photo of the ds's together with both of them actually looking at the camera much less smiling! Whenever we try for a family shot ds1 turns into grumpy dwarf.

margo1974 · 26/03/2007 14:27

Inith - I must show your pictures to DH. He was born in Durham, MIL worked in the prison as a secretary while my FIL was doing his Phd there

margo1974 · 26/03/2007 14:28

Shucks - my spelling/typing is abysmal, what's happened to me? Am I turning into Cod?

SachaF · 26/03/2007 16:18

Hi all,
Been away on hols last week - 1 night in camper van, then 2 in hotel. On 2nd night van got broken in to - and they took ds's mattress of all things!!!! so he had no where to sleep so we went to visit SIL a little earlier than planned during our trip. This is the same mattress he has at home so luckily he fits in his (well SILs) old crib otherwise dh would have to sleep on sofa whilst I co(not)slept - dm is picking us up new mattress tomorrow - what on earth will a thief do with a cot mattress?!
Anyway, been reading back posts, catching up, far too much to reply to.
ds asleep in me now - been a funny day sleep and feed wise - think i may be doing a lot of feeding tonight.
How do I make a profile?

margo1974 · 26/03/2007 17:53

On the top Blue bar - see my mumsnet and go from there

HTH

SachaF · 26/03/2007 21:49

Thanks, profile started, for some reason it says I have no kids! I will sort it out tomorrow when Ihave had a bit more sleep (fingers crossed) but it will soon be time to wake ds for feed and nappy change so we can all settle down for the night.
Oh and just discovered that a full bag of disposable nappies was also stolen from the van!!

SachaF · 26/03/2007 21:51

That'll be fun to put on the insurance claim - now if only (s)he had also taken the maternity and breast pads I had in there to give to someone as well!!!

margo1974 · 26/03/2007 21:52

SaschaF

Maybe it was Mary and Joseph and they needed supplies for the stable

glassslipper · 26/03/2007 22:00

lol SaschaF. How odd. I just gave a pack away on freecycle. The Tesco Size 3s are really rubbing my DDs legs. I changed from size 2s to 3s the other day and they have made her very sore so i'm going back to pampers for a bit.
