Will this do?

ah, cocobabe, we tried the bunny alarm clock ages ago but she saw it as a toy and kept changing the time on it lol. this one goes on the wall so i'm hoping that as she cant reach it it might work for us

Cocobabe · 17/04/2007 16:01

good luck with the wall clock ! - hope it works for you this time

jabberwocky · 17/04/2007 16:04

I'm hopelessly behind on posts.

coco- hoping your lo is better soon

AQ - it's soooo maddening having to retrain isn't it?

As far as going back to work, it is hard in some ways but honestly I need the break. I just can't do the mommy thing full-time. I know I would hate working more than I do tho. 2 1/2 days seems the perfect balance.

weaning - ds2 doesn't seem interested and I'm too lazy to think about it yet. I am interested in trying blw tho (laziness again)

I just ordered ds2 the bebe pod plus which is our version of the bumbo. I'm really anxious to get it in now as he seems to be really bored with his swing but not quite ready for the johnny jump up or the exersaucer.

jabberwocky · 17/04/2007 16:06

Oh, and I've been meaning to say that I totally understand babies with acid reflux wanting to eat now. Mine has come back with a vengence after 15 years and zantac (ranitidine) and eating are the only things that give me relief.

And I had just lost 2 pounds...

LaBoheme · 17/04/2007 16:19

Afternoon all,
So sorry I haven't been around for so long, have enjoyed reading up on how everyone is.
Just thinking about the "return to work" as a reality as some of you are. Torn between really wanting to go back but I fear all I am good for is feeding, changing and gooing at LO and have forgotten how to actually talk about anything else but baby stuff. At our lunch a few weeks ago Boss gave me a payrise and more responsibility; I had a big terrified grin pasted to my face all day. Thanks God it's only for 3 days a week..
LO is feeding loads (little chubber that she is) during the day which means night are not the hell they were for so long at the begining, which does loads for my moods and general mental health..
Jabber LO dosen't seem that fussed on weaning either but I am really enjoying it for some reason, god knows why i guess soggy rusks makes a change from milk milk milk...

LaBoheme · 17/04/2007 16:21

castles - LOL at your 5.30 "morning feeds" I am with you on that one!

castlesintheair · 17/04/2007 16:24

Hi LaBoheme. Lovely to hear from you. Was only thinking about you yesterday. So pleased it's going well
Where is Judemum? Anyone heard from her? And a few others, I'm sure

Castles, I've been wonderiung about a few others too, Spina, Northernmama, Indiemummy, Annaspanner & bebespain, dublindee all used to post lots. I was doing my Mumsnet mates list and there's really not that many of us, compared to back in December. Hope it's just babies keeping them all busy.

LB, glad you're doing okay - good news on the payrise!

I remember the 5:30 starts, both of mine have gone through phases of getting up anytime from 5am, it's not good, but I'm sure ds2 will go through it soon enough.

jabberwocky · 17/04/2007 16:51

ds2 was going thru a phase of 5:00 am wakenings but has been doing 6:00 am lately then going back to sleep until about 7:30 or so.

Olihan, I have to agree with you that ds2 probably feeds more co-sleeping which is why I make such an effort to at least start him off in his own bed. But then he absolutely refuses to settle in it after his 1:00 am feed. And then last night he wouldn't settle in his own bed at all

I was really kind of losing it last night trying to get him down. Dh had to take over. Also lost it with ds1 yesterday when he was refusing to get in the car at McD's - we always go there after gymnastics on Mondays for him to finish burning off some energy on the indoor slide. I practically threw him in the car finally and slammed the door so I could get ds2 buckled in then luckily he got in his car seat so that I could buckle him in adn go. I felt like the worst mother in the world

jabberwocky · 17/04/2007 16:52

I've also wondered about the rest of our little group. It would be nice to hear from them at least from time to time. I think a lot of people may feel that if they don't post regularly they can't post at all.

LaBoheme · 17/04/2007 17:11

I think that's true Jabber, and I honestly think the LO's can make posting impossible at times and at night you want to get on with otherr stuff so MN has to take a backseat. When I don't post I always think about you guys and wonder how you're all doing..when I'm back at work I will have more time to post sneakily ! can't wait

LaBoheme · 17/04/2007 17:13

Thanks castles yes it's going incredibly well all things considered, I really didn't think life could be so good again after the first few difficult months x

weirdbird · 17/04/2007 21:34

We where on Gaviscon to start with but it made no difference on her throwing up or the pain so we where told to stop it, and as it was such a faf to give her I wasn't upset!

I am sure it is the pain that stops her wanting to feed and yet at the same time she is starving hungry, no wonder she cries, but its so incredibly frustrating as there is nothing I can do, but try and encourage her to feed.

I am very glad she is my 2nd and I bf till 8mths last time as I don't think I would still be persevering if she was my 1st.

It makes you feel horrible when you try and feed and they scream and arch away from you as if you where torturing them!

But I love feeding her at night when she is sleepy as she is totally calm and is a brilliant feeder then, she likes her sleep and just latches on and feeds till she falls asleep again, she often doesnt even open her eyes for the whole thing. I know it makes me very thankful that at least I dont have hours of pacing at night to cope with.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 17/04/2007 21:36

I love the sleepy feed too!

lucy5 · 17/04/2007 21:50

Annaspanner and bebeinspain are both doing fine. I will pass on best wishes and they might come and say hola.

lucy5 · 17/04/2007 21:50

OOps forgot to say hello to everyone

Elibean · 17/04/2007 22:33

Evening, or 'night, all...server been down most of the day, most frustrating.

WB, you have exactly described my dd re feeding - reminds me how much of her unsettledness is to do with her reflux. She doesn't throw up too often if I'm careful to do small feeds (pushed it tonight, and she soaked only summer sleeping bag) but she fusses exactly the same way. And ditto re Gaviscon not doing anything, but other meds helping - still, not curing.

If she was keen to take solids, I'd be on 'em, for sure - or rather she would - they certainly helped dd1. But she isn't, of those that are!

Hi Lucy, hi LaBoheme, nice to see you

Off to bed. Last night was woken at 1am by dd1 having a total hysterics fit in her sleep (followed by tantrum this morning, then charming rest of day after firm boundaries from me); dd2 at 2am for feed; 3am with wind/reflux; 4am ditto; 5am small feed and stayed in our bed; 7am up.

Weirdy, I go to bed expecting better every night

Elibean · 17/04/2007 22:35

((Jabber)) bet you are one of the world's nicest mums. Or moms.

glassslipper · 18/04/2007 07:35

Morning all

Been up since 6am with DD2 but bizarrely I feel ok. I've decided to start making this my wake up time and stop trying to delay until 7 and then be pissed off when it doesnt happen

DD up 2 x in the night so no change there !

I'm off to centerparcs next week so quite looking forward to that.

Have a good day all

Cocobabe · 18/04/2007 10:49

Morning all !

Yay ! had abit of success with weaning ds,gave him some baby rice with fruit puree- he loved it !1st spoonful he cried then eventually started tasting it ..his face was lovely to see , didnt even cough throughout it all ! I'm absolutely chuffed with him . Looking forward to giving him some more at lunchtime !
Nighttime was awful - 1am feed, 2.30 rocked him bk to sleep, 3am feed, 4am bk to sleep ,5am feed , then dd1 wanted to cuddle with us in bed ,6am wake , 7am feed then wake for day !....hope tonight gets better !
glasslipper - lucky you going to center parcs - be a nice break for you !

accessorizewithbabysick · 18/04/2007 11:03

[hugs] for all of you with sleeplessnights!

Jabber, have just found out ds1 has same thing as your ds1, felt absolutely awful when realised I'd been yelling at him for somethign he couldnt control. Have to get him on movicol asap & empty his bowel out, start all over again. I do feel better than there's an answer tho.

Olihan · 18/04/2007 13:52

Poor ds1 AQ, did jabber say it was quite common at their age? Good you've got some treatment sorted out.

Ds1 has picked up a lovely vomiting bug. He can't keep anything down at all, including calpol so gp has prescribed paracetamol suppositories as his temp is 39.5. That'll be an interesting afternoon then! Typically, dh is in Belfast tonight - how do they always pick the most awkward times for these things to happen?

jabberwocky · 18/04/2007 18:38

Thanks for the hug eli I got off work early yesterday and came home to make Mexican concha rolls with ds1. Also made sure to start a regular time to spend with him practicing his drumming. I think he just needs one on one time which is hard to come by!

AQ, poor you and your little ds I know what you mean about feeling guilty. Ds1 had been having some seepage accidents a week or two before we got it figured out and we had been giving him a hard time about it. Did they talk to you about the "colon rehabilitation" part of it? Ds1 has to be on a laxative for up to 2 months as the area where the blockage was becomes stretched out as fecal matter passes around the impaction. But I did talk to the nurse yesterday about ds1 going pee in his pull-up and she said there is no physical reason for that. So I had a talk with him about no pees and to tell me as soon as he had a poo accident instead of just walking around with it in there! Have also instigated a daily prize for him doing same. She said with the laxative he may still have the occasional poo accident but we have to work on adjusting the dosage to fix that problem.

Looks like it's going to be a long spring...

jabberwocky · 18/04/2007 18:39

Oh, and yes the dr. said that ds1 was at the perfect age for it. Also said having a new baby in the house was a common trigger. I guess he was really internalizing some stress

Indith · 18/04/2007 19:01

Sacha! Have e mailed you. And- I use sunscreen, no matter how much you cover the baby up if you are out lots their face will be exposed. Oh and I tried the formula at bedtime thing and it didn't make ds sleep but I do have friends who swear by it!
