I have no idea what 8.5 kg is, lucy, what's that in pounds?

Olihan · 16/04/2007 22:25

LFM, my mum took ds1 and dd to wicksteed last summer. There's a really good play park area which is huge (and has the added bonus of being free) then there's a little train ride that circles the whole park and a few little rides that are suitable for small ones.

lucy5 · 16/04/2007 22:26

18.7 lbs , see you have me googling now

Olihan · 16/04/2007 22:27

AQ, I stick ds2 in it when I'm cooking or hanging out the washing. He seems to like it and ds1 and dd wedge themselves in it to watch tv!

LowFatMilkshake · 16/04/2007 22:31

Gonna look out for a bumbo. if only 1 I will get it on the grounds that by the time friend has her baby I can pass it down!

Elibean · 16/04/2007 22:33

Coco, , its horrid hearing a babe with bronchiolitis. dd had it at 4 weeks and ended up in HDU for a week with oxygen and tube feeding - I'm so glad your LO is on the mend, hope the cough goes soon. Its pretty standard for them to throw up after feeds during bronch, unfortunately.

Hi Lucy honey on teat sounds like my grandmother's 'can't you put a bit of sugar in it' advice...

We just got a Bumbo. I couldn't find the right button on the website and ended up with a lurid pink one, but dd1 loves it (being in typical 3 yr old girl pink phase) and dd2, like Magnolia's ds, is desperate to be sitting if not standing if not running and climbing . I don't remember dd1 even contemplating weight bearing at her 9 month check when she was supposed to do it - help!

My grumpy little changeling (usually so chilled) is asleep. I'm going to join her while I can. Still wondering if its a cold, teeth, or just baby-itis. Feeling a lot better now (as its bed time) but have to confess to shouting 'I hate babies today' down phone to my sister this afternoon...

Don't tell my HV

accessorizewithbabysick · 16/04/2007 22:42

That's exactly what I was thinking of one for, Oli - I was hanging out washing today & he was whinging away in bouncy chair. Must sell it to dp now, he's in 'must to go to asda instead of tesco' mode at present. Although of course he hasn't done any shopping for some years now

Hard to remember it all now Eli, how stressful it was? Horrible that so many babies on here have had it, I'd never heard of it until I was on here.

accessorizewithbabysick · 16/04/2007 22:43

Oh, and I called ds2 an annoying little sod on sat night when he spend 90 minutes feeding (mum was waiting downstairs so I could go out with dp for a walk & a chip buttie!). Don't tell my hv either elibean!

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 16/04/2007 22:58

I left on the 25th November and will return part time (Thurs and Friday 9am - 5pm and 2 Saturdays 9am - 3pm per month)

I just remember my return the last time, where I ended up in tears because of a rotten customer

Olihan · 16/04/2007 23:12

Well, I'm currently in the spare bed waiting to express at 11:30 while dh does night duty tonight. Ds2 has been worse than usual over the weekend, sleepwise and I lost it a bit with dh this morning when he rolled over and went back to sleep when ds2 decided 5:30 was a good time to get up. There's 2 feeds worth of EBM in the fridge, plus this next session so I'm hoping for a good 6 hours uninterrupted sleep .

Can't decide whether to express at 2/3am when he'd normally feed, but getting sleep is winning over my concerns about my supply!

glassslipper · 17/04/2007 08:11

Morning all,

Not sure what to do. DD2 is sleeping really well from 7.30pm to 3.45am. (every night) but then she wakes up for a feed, goes back to sleep and is awake again at 5, then 6, for more feeds. Any ideas on how to space them out, delay them? It definitely is hunger and not anything else as she wont settle at all if i dont feed her.

BTW, I weighed DD2 yesterday and she was 12 lb 2oz.

Also, DD1 went without a nappy last night for the first time. She decided at bedtime she didnt want them any more

Cocobabe · 17/04/2007 10:52

Morning all ..

DS slept in my arms last night from 9 -10pm then he woke up for a feed , then just when i thought he had settled , i changed his nappy & night babygro he threw up all over us ...changed again ...then he threw up again ..gwad what a drama ..finally settled down to bed at 11pm , woke up at 2.30 & 5am for feeds then woke up at 7am ,been b/f on & off all morning having little feeds. I try to avoid him having long feeds as i know he will only cough it all out afterwards so the little the better it stays down - just abit of a drag having to feed him so frequently !

Returning to work in July ..cant believe time has flown..have started to give him formula gradually with a bottle a day to give him the chance to get used to it and hope i can stop b/f by late may

Cocobabe · 17/04/2007 10:53

p.s . Thanks for all your supporting get well wishes x

weirdbird · 17/04/2007 11:07

Morning all

Hannah only feeds every 2 hours during the day, she wil have her bath with DD1 and then has a long 2 hour on and off feed till about 9pm then settles to sleep, then I give her a dream feed before I go to bed about 11pm and she will normally go through till about 5am then I feed her again at about 7am before getting up to get DD1 to school.

Yesterday was actually a really good day and I felt really positive by the end of it, but today has been terrible, she just kept screaming when we got back from the school run and wouldnt stop and wouldnt feed, I ended up getting really angry and frustrated. In the end I put her in the swing chair and she has fallen asleep after screaming for 20min. My nerves are on complete edge, I was going to take her out today to meet up with some other mums, but I don;t want to have to deal with another feed like that when out. And I should have left by now and she will definitely want to feed as soon as she wakes up.

NCT Nearly New Sales are great, but it is a good plan to know what you are looking for. I bought most of the things we have at them. If you want something specific you will probably have to go to 2 or 3 to find it though, you can find a list of those in your are by going to the NCT website and doing a postcode search.

This is my 2nd bout of PND as I had it Very badly with my first and I know the signs, bizarrely it started when we went on holiday and I had a break and was getting more sleep and other people where helping look after Hannah. At least the school run is forcing me up and dressed every morning which definitely helps in the long run, am going to contact the accupuncturist and see if I can get an appt soon.

Olihan · 17/04/2007 11:48

WB, do you think Hannah feeds so much in the day beause she sleeps so well at night? I was just wondering whether she's stocking up in the day after having a long break in the night. Probably a daft idea, especially as there's no way I'd wake ds2 if he started sleeping through . I'm looking forward to dh going back to preschool on Thurs, I find I cope better when my days are more tightly structured, during the holidays everything seems to be 10 times harder.

Last night was a bit of a revelation. Normally he feeds at 11pm ish, goes into his cot then I bring him into bed with me when he wakes at 2am ish. He then feeds on and off until morning so I only really doze.
He didn't go into bed until 8pm so then didn't feed again until 12:30am when dh gave him a bottle of EBM, went back in his cot, woke for another feed (bottle of EBM) at 4am, then back in his cot until 7:15 when I bf him in bed and we both dozed until 8:30. So now I'm wondering if him being in bed with me is actually making his sleeping worse and if I made the effort to get out of bed for the 2/3am feed then I might get more sleep. It only takes him 10/15 mins to feed which is probably worth the sacrifice!

glassslipper · 17/04/2007 12:11

olihan - my dd definitely sleeps better in her own bed.

castlesintheair · 17/04/2007 12:15

WB, your LO hasn't got silent reflux has she? DD1 did. She wanted to feed all the time and then scream when she wasn't. Slept well at night - exhaustion - but as soon as she was on medication she transformed. Just a thought.

I must be really weird because I am not looking forward to DS going back to school tomorrow. I love having my DCs at home. I especially love the lack of routine, staying in jimjams until lunchtime if necessary, not that happens, or course

castlesintheair · 17/04/2007 12:22

Oh missed that bit Olihan, I found all 3 of mine started to sleep well once they were out of our bedroom. DS & DD2 both slept through the night completely DS2 can probably smell your milk plus general sleep noise (my DH snoring!) can be disturbing. Disturbs me anyway

weirdbird · 17/04/2007 13:50

Castles - Hannah has reflux badly, she is on Ranitidine and Domperidone and compared to before she is a different baby, but some days she is still worse than others, unfortunately the acid coming up puts her off feeding for any length of time and she just refuses to feed sitting up or in any other positions which is why I think she feeds so often as she is a big baby. Though I am grateful it has stopped her throwing up every feed!

weirdbird · 17/04/2007 13:51

Unfortunately she screams and refuses to feed rather than wanting to feed!

glassslipper · 17/04/2007 15:02

sounds hard weirbird. just a thought, but is it worth putting some bonjela on her gums before you try and feed her. i've found when dd2 is fussy this can help as it seems to be a sore mouth causing it.

well, just gave dd2 some baby rice. Feelings of guilt in my head and i daren't go to the blw part of MN. But.....she loved it. She grabbed the spoon to scoop some more in her mouth. I gave her about 7-8 spoons as i dont want to rush but I was pleasantly surprised by her reaction

glassslipper · 17/04/2007 15:11

i just got one of these to hopefully stop dd1 from waking up at 6am every day. what do you think are my chances?

castlesintheair · 17/04/2007 15:12

WB, have you tried gaviscon? That's meant to help heal the oseophogus and keep the milk contents in stomach whereas ranitadine/domperiodone stops the pain of (especially silent) reflux I believe. Ranitadine has no effect on DD2 whereas it was perfect for DD1. Interestingly, I ran out of gaviscon 2 days ago and haven't got any more and she has stopped throwing up completely. She was bringing so much milk back up I thought she was going to need an increase, but apparently not
Btw, I saw a homeopath when I had PND with DD1. I'm not sure if it is what he prescribed or having a 1:1 for nearly 2 hours but it worked

OP posts:
castlesintheair · 17/04/2007 15:16

GS, good luck. I'll try anything when I'm desperate though I resigned myself to having a family of early risers a long time ago. I nearly fell off my chair when I read others on this thread think 5.30am is a night feed. That's when I get up! No wonder I've aged

Weridbird - hope your lo calms soon - I imagine it must be so frustrating when she doesnt want a feed when you want to feed her !.
Glassslipper - I had the same problem with my dd1 , whos 3.6yrs we got her a similar clock - she loves it and enjoys putting her alarm on when she goes to bed! its worked abit - most of the time she wakes up 7-7.15am . this is the clock we have
