Margo, so sorry to hear about your aunt. A friend of mine developed menier's disease (sp?) with symptoms like that. They were able to fix the problem surgically.

AQ, tantrums have pretty much gone by the wayside. Ds1 has been his old sweet self the last 3 weeks or so.

I have been trying the tough approach as well. It does seem to help, I think I just need to be more consistent. He did really well the first night or so then the last two nights have been awful

glassslipper · 12/04/2007 08:27

jabber - thanks for the flat head info

margo - sorry about your aunt. sounds frightening

lfm - at the pox. poor family.

tough love didnt stop dd waking in the night as she woke 2 x. I fed her and she went straight to sleep though which is something. Funny how she takes a 30 min feed in the night and then 10 in the morning

Just ordered this for DD so very excited on her behalf...

Calmriver · 12/04/2007 08:55

Hi guys, i cant believe Ambi will be 5 months this month! She is weighing 11lbs! Very small 5 months. When I think that she should/could sit next month(6 months)

Jabber, Dd2only suffers with moods here when she is exhausted in the afternoon, but i keep her awake so that she is down at 7pm...Yesterday I had to carry her under my one arm out of the disney store, shouting at me! Needless to say I WON THE BATTLE!!!!!!!

Calmriver · 12/04/2007 09:00

Do any of your baby's sleep on their sides? I have always put mine down on their sides, and that is how they love it.
I never liked the idea of on the back..

Indith · 12/04/2007 09:18

Oooh progress (ish)
Down as usual at 7
Feed at 12.10
Resettle at 1.20
Feed at 1.50 (ok so not great til now)
Feed at 4.30
Up at 7!

He's still in a crabby mood today though

Olihan · 12/04/2007 10:09

Ds2 is broken!

Last night went;
6:30 bed
7:00 woke up crying
7:45 finally back to sleep
11:00 feed for 20 mins
12:15 eventually resettled
2:00 feed then fuss, wriggle, kick, latch on, latch off, latch on, latch off, fuss wriggle, kick, latch on, latch off, ad infinitum until 5:30
6:45 woke up
9:00 back to bed and he's just stirring now.

Someone give me back my real baby!

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 12/04/2007 10:28

I'm yawning as I am typing.

Glassslipper sent the growth spurt to my house yesterday. dd2 hardly settled during the day and I put dd1 to bed at 7 in the hope that I would get a relaxing evening. dd2 had been awake but sleepy at 6.30 but did not get to sleep until 8.20. She woke several times following that.

She has been asleep for about an hour now. i'm about to curl up on the sofa with dd1 and turn off the computer.

I bet the phone will ring now!

LowFatMilkshake · 12/04/2007 11:05

Hi All,

Margo -no worries about killing the thread - I am sure she will give me another reason to start a new one after DH speaks to he tonight.

Fingers crossed for your aunt - I had balance problems a few years ago, it's not nice and makes you feel sick and dizzy, like a the effects of a really big drinkning session without the drink basically. Hope they get her diagnosed and sorted soon.

My DS is in his 6-9 months short and t'shirt today I bought it for him for the summer as he will be in that size then, but it fits rather well - a little too well now. Although he still seems skinny to me - either a mothers eye or he's in proportion.

His pox are all drying up now save for 2 which are blisters still - although have been so for a couple of days so should be drying by tomorrow.

He's had my up for 40 minutes the last two nights just unsettled - probably because he's itchy - I did'nt offer a feed and he did'nt seem to be bothered, just really wanted a cuddle. I am very sleepy now though I can tell you. DS has been sleeping through for a good 6 weeks so it was a bit of a shock. Then again I have also just been giving milk the last couple of days as well in case he had spots on his throat. Back to soilds as well today and we'll see how we go.

glassslipper · 12/04/2007 12:09

margo - just remember it wont go on forever.

My DDs night last night went like this :

08.20 Bed
12.45 Wake for feed
01.15 Bed
03.30 Wake for feed
04.00 Bed
07.40 Wake up for day.

Is that good? I just keep remembering DD1 lept through from 10 weeks

DD2 is really unsettled today. I think it is her teeth. She is biting me, has red cheeks and is just grumpy which is unlike her....

SachaF · 12/04/2007 12:44

GS I'd say that is pretty darn good!
LAst night:
7.30 bed
10.15 Wake for Feed
11.15 Bed
2.15 Wake for Feed
3.10 Bed
5.15 Wake for Feed
5.45 Bed
7.15 Wake for day

Plus twice in the night there were short shrieks, enough to wake me up but ds is still asleep when he does them. I don't remember when!

He sleeps now, I'll try my luck on the sofa......Last time I posted that I was going to try to have a nap he woke about 15 minutes later!

jabberwocky · 12/04/2007 13:28

DS2 is doing much the same at night

Lol at calm carrying her shouting dd out the door!

And yes, ds2 likes to sleep on his side quite a bit.

castles, emailed you yesterday, just wanted to make sure you got it.

Sorry to be so brief, getting ready for work. Will check in on you all this evening.

Indith · 12/04/2007 16:34

God ds is driving me mad

Since we cam back from holiday our nights might be settling again but bloody hell the days! morning cuddles are fine he is happy as anything for a while then the screaming starts. He screams while you hug him. You get him calmed he just sits on you and screams f you move position. His feeding is all over the place. When he takes it it is just a snack before he comes off screaming blue murder. He is cuirrently on my lap making unhappy grunting noises like he is straining or something but his poos are regular and is a great farter. Daft thing is I know bedtime will be fine, he loves bath and massage and will coo away at me then go down nicely.

On the plus side I managed to persuade him to have an afternoon nap in his cot. Didn't last long but hey ho.

glassslipper · 12/04/2007 16:38

my dd is all over the place today. feeds for a few minutes then fusses and wont take any more. naps out of the window. i'm sure it is her teeth as the bonjela helped a bit...

accessorizewithbabysick · 12/04/2007 20:06

jabber, that's really good then about ds1 (mine's calmed down a lot too) must make life much more pleasant! Now that I can give a little more time to ds1 & am not so tired he's more secure = less angry with me.
indith/sacha/margo/indith - hugs, sound like stressful days/nights you poor things!

LFM, what's happening with MIL now?? Is your dh finally having words?

accessorizewithbabysick · 12/04/2007 20:07

oops, gs as well [hugs] have I forgotten anyone?

Indith · 12/04/2007 20:14

Oh I get 2 sets of hugs!

While bathing ds tonight I noticed he has lots of tiny little spots all over his torso. This have something to do with his nefound dislike of clothes? I've not changed powder or anything.
Anyway I don't really understand. Probably partially stress (mine) causing his grumpiness really. I don't give him my full attention because I'm trying to work so he cries, so I can't do work, so I stress, so he feels the tension and cries etc etc. This afternoon dp took him off me, stuck him in his bouncy chair and began to cook dinner while chatting to him and he was all smiles. Grr.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 12/04/2007 20:16

I had a bit of time out today DH took dds out when he came home from work and I caught up with a couple of hours sleep - I really needed it.

So now we are waiting for results of my aunts mri scan. She had it done at 2pm today.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 12/04/2007 20:20

Poor you Indith - I discovered dd2 likes cbeebies yesterday. They do something called the night garden and she was kicking her legs and doing the quick breathing that she does when she is excited. Amazing.

Indith - stick your DS infront of the washing machine while it's on - that should keep him happy!

Olihan · 12/04/2007 20:26

Can I have a hug too please? I've had a rotten day, after my rotten night. You know I said yesterday that the sleep deprivation doesn't bother me as much? I LIED . I have been a knackered, shouty, short tempered harridan today.

I won't bore you with it, it's just been rotten and I'm very glad they're all in bed. Typically dh is working late tonight (parent's evening) so GRRRRRRRRRRRR! Whinge, whinge, moan, moan..........

accessorizewithbabysick · 12/04/2007 20:26

hope it's good news, margo!

Is it too early to stick them in front of the tv?! I have loads of baby einsteins waiting...he seems to pay attention when charlie & lola are, but then so do I I love it! In the night garden is quite weird, isn't it? I love the music, but it seems so baby for the age group it's aimed at (or is it aimed at babies?)

accessorizewithbabysick · 12/04/2007 20:27
Olihan · 12/04/2007 20:32

Erm, I may have eaten an entire easter egg at lunchtime after the 10th trip upstairs to settle ds2 in as many minutes [ashamed emoticon!]. Not really doing wine at the moment but there is a bottle of Bailey's in the cupboard that's calling me.

Cheers for the hug though .

Ds1 loves In the Night Garden too, yet dd, who I think is more of the age group it's aimed at, isn't bothered by it at all. Must be a 3 year old thing. I swear whoever wrote it was on serious mind altering drugs though, no sober person could come up with that, surely?

Olihan · 12/04/2007 20:33

Oh Margo, sorry for being so self obsessed, missed the bit about your aunt. Fingers crossed here for you.

LowFatMilkshake · 12/04/2007 20:55

Hi All - hugs and jaffa cakes to all those in need - what is it about jaffa cakes that make you eat all 12 in the cellophane wrapper? I got 2 boxes of 24 yeaterday and there is only 12 left - I can't even blame anyone else. DH doesnt like them and DD has had 1 But as it's only 1g of fat per cake I dont feel quote as bad

MIL has consented to visit - yay! Of course this good news was interspersed with digs at other family members who are involved but I let these wash over me - the main thing is DD will see her GP's this weekend. Watch this space Sunday night after she has been in my house all day

Took DC's out today and hid DS from onlookers under a up to 23mnth baseball cap so I would'nt get glares about his spots - they are all scabbed now anyway. He slept the entire time and was a very smiley boy when we got home. DD had a great time on the bouncy castle - getting her face painted and choosing 2 new dresses with leggings so she can wear them in the garden without getting rashes from the shrubs she loves climbing over

Even found her some new fancy dress stuff in Disney Store £5.49 from £20 !! No need to carry her out, although did have a momnet when we lost her....to be told by some kindly GP's that she was in a fairy tent with thier 3 gradnsons DH was very firm about it being the last time he will be told anything like that about her

What is it about that shop?! LOL at Calm and her battle in there!

Oli fancy sharing the Baileys?? Although not sure it goes well with jaffa cakes!

castlesintheair · 12/04/2007 21:50

Thanks for the email Jabber
Just a cautionary note for any of you who have DCs with flat heads: they don't always round out on their own, best to try and do something about it now if you can i.e. lay them on their side (with supports to sleep) etc. Someone was telling me today that Great Ormonde Street Hospital say that 50% of babies now have flat head syndrome because of the back to sleep campaigns (which is good of course). I could go on about the long term effects of marked plagiocephaly but I don't want to bore you !! All I will say is that it is not necessarily cosmetic.
