Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 12/04/2007 22:38

Don't worry Oli - that's they exact smae day I have had today. Just a tiny loss of sleep makes such a difference to your attitude.

I put my dd1 upstairs for a nap and forgot to put on her nappy and I didn't return to her for about 1/2 hour even though she was upset.

Poo everywhere and she had got clean clothes out of her drawer and walked it into those.

I cleaned her up and took her downstairs and had a little cry. {Group hug} (does anyone else sing "All in a bundle of sugar" when they hug?)

My aunt should be getting results tomorrow - I'm optimistic that it's just Labyrinthitis, although I'm no doctor. She has had anti-nausea drugs so she feels better although she is hating staying there for another night.

accessorizewithbabysick · 12/04/2007 22:47

Ooooh, baileys, yum Oli! I have to buy the mini bottles so I can have controlled measures...

Have never ventured to disney store, feel I must now so i can lose a child or carry one out!

margo, don't know the sugar thing I'm afraid but can sympathise with poo every where!

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 12/04/2007 22:52

Did you know that we have posted almost 600 times in less than a month on this thread?

glassslipper · 13/04/2007 08:36

oh wow! DD went from 7.15pm - 2am. Had a 30 min feed, then 2.30 - 6.45am. The only thing we did differently to normal was put her to bed an hour earlier as she was zonked!!!!

LowFatMilkshake · 13/04/2007 08:47

Hi All,

All the jaffa cakes are gone! Thats 48 (47) in less than 48 hours - will not be buying them again I have no self restraint!

Re the flat head thing. DS had one side flat when he was in his moses basket beside my bed and kept his head looking towards me. Since being in his cot, with one side against the wall he looks the opposite way or up and it seems to be evening out. But after Castles tail i will be asking the HV about when I see her. I dont think his is very severe though.

DS very whingy this morning I got him up for his 6am bottle and his nappy had leaked so i changed him, but DD also woke so then he refused to go back to sleep. So now hes holding out for breakfast after which time I am sure he will go out like a light!

LowFatMilkshake · 13/04/2007 09:09

That would be 'tale' not 'tail'

castlesintheair · 13/04/2007 10:02

Didn't mean to alarm anyone btw about the flat head thang. It's just that I've been to hell and back with DS and wouldn't want anyone else to suffer like we have. Apparently they do round out on their own 9 times out of 10.

LowFatMilkshake · 13/04/2007 10:12

DS has taken ages to settle. He now wants his dummy whenever he sleeps, not just for naps in his chair - this is fine if he manages to keep it in, but if not I am up and down like the proverbial yo-yo! Still burns off the jaffa cakes

Am thinking of sewing a popper on to his comfort blanket when he gets a bit bigger so I can attach the dummy at nigt and if he looses it he can find it again on his own.

Indith · 13/04/2007 11:41

I hope things are ok with your aunt margo.
And that Oli enjoyed the baileys!
LFM, for me it is all about the Maryland cookies. I swear that there is just one serving per pack!

To top it all off dp and I got a tummy bug, ds decided to vomit leading to me being up from 11.30 til 1.30 ish then he was wide awake and smiling and gurgling at 4.30. Left him in his cot with the lamp on and he played by himself. I assume he dropped off again! Then he was up for the day at 6.25!

Ah well, off to Guide camp this pm then France to see my Gran. Essay still not written. I have no brain.

glassslipper · 13/04/2007 12:01

oli - only just saw your other thread so have posted. know exactly how you feel. it will improve....you sound like you have a lvely dh

LittleMissLate · 13/04/2007 14:36

So sleep deprived that I couldn't remember how many times dd woke up in the night when we got up this morning. I definitely remember feeding her at 1am but have no idea whether I fed her after that or not (she normally wakes again around 4 or 5). Need more sleep!!! Don't know how those of you getting up more times in the night are managing.

Sorry for TMI but has anyone who has started solids had a problem with constipation? DD's poo has gone from being liquid to a firmer consistency - not hard at all but she does seem to be straining (holds her breath and goes red as she pushes). Tried pureeing a prune in with her banana at lunchtime (still trying to get the bits of prune skin out of the sieve...) so will see if that helps. She is still having plenty of breast feeds (feeding before solids) and I am trying to get her to take a bit of water out of a cup after food to keep fluid up.

SachaF · 13/04/2007 15:13

I've just started tieing knots in the corners of a muslin - no dummy has been needed at night for 3 nights now for the resettle after feed! Doesn't stay in for long but I put it in his hand - he tries to put it in a few times then seems to give up!

jabberwocky · 13/04/2007 15:30

Another rough night here. Ds2as up from 12:30 to 2:30 and then it took me well over an hour to get back to sleep myself! He's really knawing at things so it's got to be teeth doing this.

LML, when I weaned ds1 he started pooing only once or twice a week. I read after that that bananas can be constipating and started pears. Prunes of course are good too as are peaches and peas (the "P" diet )

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 13/04/2007 15:33

Aunt has been sent home - nothing major found

Thank you again for all your kind wishes

m x

LowFatMilkshake · 13/04/2007 15:37

Re the constipation - I make DS porridge in the moring with pureed apple and a cube of frozen prune juice, I was giving it to him in 3.5 oz of water but he doesnt always drink it.

Sacha - excellent idea with the muslin knots. Will try this as soon as DS wakes from his nap, 90 minutes and counting - in his cot with Radio 2 in the back ground. He loves Steve Wrights voice for some reason.
Have only had to pop up a couple of time to replace the dummy.

DD and I have had a great time, decorating the coaster we made for her GP's, eating 1 of Easter Eggs and now she is watching Cat in the Hat!

LowFatMilkshake · 13/04/2007 15:39

Margo - excellent news about your Aunt, glad test found nothing!

Was she particularly stressed whe it happened?? That was what caused my probs - apparently the muscle of the skull tightens and causes the feeling of light-heaedness and nausea!

Elibean · 13/04/2007 16:27

Back from Torquay (oh glamorous life) and wondering how I'll ever catch up! Probably won't, so forgive me for not having a clue whats going on for a day or two...

SEaside was lovely, nights were hell (dd2 still v coldy, and choking on snot several times per night), swimming in well heated hotel pool with dd1 daily also lovely, travelling for hours in car with two kids not so lovely. I'm knackered: someone once told me holidays don't exist once you have more than one child could they have been right?!

Indith, did happen to see you were off to France to see gran - mine also in France (Paris) off to see her in three weeks. If I recover from the trauma of packing for four in time to do it all again, that is

babypowder · 13/04/2007 20:57

Eli, I've only missed today's discussions, and I'm completely lost

Had a fantastic day today - went to my office, which is 1.5hours away (I'd forgotten what the commute felt like!) and spent some time with some of the people I am closest to there. It was fantastic. DD1 was a little angel, and DD2 charmed them all with her grins and gurgles. We came across as a really together, happy family. Thank god they don't see us at 6pm when DD2 is having screaming fits, DD1 won't get out of the bath, DH is trying to have an adult conversation ...

And even better, it got me away from next door and the problems there. I felt like a normal human being for a whole afternoon. Bliss.

I can't believe Indith is off to Guide camp. How does she do it?

Margo, glad to hear your aunt is OK.

LFM - I wanted one of those Jaffa cakes

jabberwocky · 13/04/2007 21:16

I totally missed that Indith is in Guide camp! I am very impressed.

Olihan · 13/04/2007 22:08

Margo, glad your aunt is ok.

Eli, I remember going to Scotland last year with 9 month old dd and 2.5 year old ds1. It was hell on earth, like being at home, only worse because there wasn't enough space or toys and it peeed down with rain the whole time we were there. I swore then I'd never do another self catering holiday. Just horrific. 8 hours in a car wasn't much fun either, but the dvd player helps A LOT. Really recommend one, it saves my sanity on the regular 2 1/2 hour trips to our respective parents.

Indith's on Guide Camp? I hope it's a luxury one, can't imagine sleeping in a tent with a 15 week old!

Glassy and Indith, thanks for your help on the other thread, hoping to work on it this weekend, have a few feeds building up in the freezer, although dh did the bedtime feed tonight and I could only express just under 4oz. When I do it at 10pm I get 5 ususally, which is what he drinks. Will go back to dh doing the 10/11pm feed I think.

Bailey's was lovely, lots of ice, mmmmmmmmm.....

LFM, don't worry about the jaffa cakes, I can not open any kind of biscuits without finishing the packet in one sitting .

magnolia1 · 14/04/2007 08:43

My computer is dying Think I have a virus or something. Have done all the usual but bloody pop ups keep coming and slowing the connection Have to wait for BIL to come and look at it.

Sorry I have missed the last few days.
Margo, glad your aunt is ok xx
Eli sounds like your holiday was ok?

Dh wants us to go camping

Ds1 is lovely He is chatting loads and smiling tons. Still b/f loads and having one solid meal in the evening. Sleeping is ok some nights and awful others

We are off to Woburn Safari park tomorrow

Indith · 14/04/2007 21:33

Hello!

I don't know how I do it either

However, ds has a baby vango sleeping bag. He was all happy in his sling while I put tents up, went to sleep in it around normal bed time, woke for a feed, back to sleep then transferred without a peep to his sleeping bag when I went to bed and slept beatifully! Had a couple of feeds of course as is typical with my little guzzler. Unfortunatly the sleeping beautifully ended at 4.40 when the dawn corus began . Thankfully he was happy enough cooing and gurgling while I pretended that he might go abck to sleep at some point til 6ish.

Ah well, all packed for France tomorrow and I am off for some well deserved sleep

babypowder · 14/04/2007 22:35

Indith, I was involved in Guiding for many years, and loved every minute of it, especially camp. But I can't for a minute imagine doing it with a tiny baby. I take it you were in a leadership role? You are one amazing woman! ['we're not worthy' emoticon]

babypowder · 15/04/2007 17:45

Gee, has the weather been nice or something? Either that or something's gone terribly wrong with MN- I'm the only one here

accessorizewithbabysick · 15/04/2007 17:46

dp also suggesting camping this year, urgghh with a baby & a 3 year old I just can't imagine it but ought to to be more positive as it's prob. all we can afford as finances have taken a downturn.

Those of you on anti-d's (castles, jabber?), when did you think you had a problem? I'm crying every day, extremely snappy/cross/angry at life in general, feel like I have nothing to look forward to, life is one long list of chores etc. This has come on slowly, started a couple of weeks ago but this weekend I've been such a cow I'm amazed dp hasn't yelled at me yet, he's been dragging me out to try and cheer me up but I just want to stay at home and hibernate. Not that keen on seeing friends either or going into work, which previously was fine. Now that I write it all down, these sound like definite symptoms of PND don't they? I've been taking sepia and a wellwoman supplement (rich in magnesium and vitamin b6) - any other suggestions before I consider anti-d's which I'd rather not end up on again?
