Evening all. I am smirking the smirk of someone who managed to get a jog in this morning Ds1 was invited next door, and ds2 was asleep. Lovley lovely neighbour said 'take your time, have a shower or something...', so I got on there for 20mins before he woke up
Jelley, I did laugh at your 'I will be choosing ds's nursery according to...', when I recall the stress involved in getting ds1 a place of any sort that wasnt the pit of hell We applied to 6, had 2 acceptances; one with no school so it would be the same probs for reception entry, and this one, which we got last minute as no one accepts afternoon places

Flame; I love Jane Eyre Jelley, I used to read like that when I was your dd1's age. I miss not having time to read. Mind you, I have now almost finished a book I was given for xmas I so remember my Mum reading me Great Expectations when I was 5 or 6 (so keep going with whatever you read dd Flame, it'll all sink in!)

So, another trashed bedroom tonight, and me left to do half of ds1's 'homework' because he was shattered, and we have no time in the morning (playgroup). Every so often, someone in his class is bestowed with the honour of bringing home a slightly dodgy looking Granny puppet. Its a big honour, believe me. He was sooo excited. We took lots of photos, which I've stuck in the accompanying scrapbook, and over breakfast he needs to dictate what he wants to say about her visit!

They were talking about mothers today, and he said 'My Mum is very good at walking on the treadmill' Am hoping he just got his words mixed up, and he doesnt really think I only walk!!

ellenrose · 05/03/2007 20:56

Quick hello - hope everyone is feeling a little better.

Birthday wishes to all I have missed.

We are adopting two cats from the local rescue place so must do some more insurance quotes rather than reading more threads . . .

Take care everyone

Frizbe · 05/03/2007 21:58

Yay, go MRM, go MRM
I just got back from gym and tonight I did walk, very fast, rather than run!! lol

NotanOtter · 05/03/2007 22:03

chloe! just checked your profile - dp is a vet in west yorks -where do you work

Flamesparrow · 05/03/2007 22:28

Yay MRM... I don't smirk enough

Turns out the other one from Bournemouth has a daughter at preschool with DD too

The guild is Chill.. in Ravenholt. Its a really nice guild - mainly parents so they understand nappy change breaks and "got to give cuddles" breaks. No big missions that can't be stopped. Motto is something like "we came, we saw, we fought if we could be bothered"

CanSleepWeirdShifts · 05/03/2007 22:28

Just a quickie to bump this back to the top of my list.

Got new stronger antibiotics to try - doc says I should see a diff within 48 hours - fingers crossed.

My parents and brother are arriving for a couple of days in the morning - what joy! Will try and get on here to vent .

Hope you're feeling better macca, and well done all the runners.

Jelley · 06/03/2007 06:48

mrm- @ the jog. At least ds1 knows it is a treadmill. In our house the dds would think it was a clothes horse!
Yes, I forgot the trauma you had getting a nursery place. DS will get into school as a sibling (getting into the attached nursery doesn't guarantee you a school place anyway) so that is one less stress here, when the time comes.

Frizbe - I can't find pics on your profile at all. You have made them public, haven't you?

We've got a Drs appt at 9, so I'll be leaving dds with friends at school. I hope someone can tell me what is causing this nappy rash. It is really quite weird

More well wishes for macca and csws

Morning ladies,

NAO - I'm quite happy to tell you where I work but not on here, my email is [email protected] - email me and I'll reply to you.

Yes, I ran round (slowly), it's actually only 1.5miles although it does feel longer. So, I have to do that twice for the Race For Life basically - I'm ahead of schedule though so providing I don't slack off I should be fine. The first time I tried to run it a month ago I got as far as the sandy area which is about 200mtrs and was literally dying!

Well, the dog crapped by the door this morning. It wasn't actually her fault, she has got bad diarrhoea which is probably due to her diet being flipped upside down and her routine thrown out of synch. She had been pacing for about 15mins before hand aswell but I didn't fully wake up, I heard her pace but I incorporated it into my dream!!! She whined for about 10mins when we went to bed - she can't do stairs so had to sleep downstairs because she is too heavy for me to lift her up and down. I think she must have felt lonely because Charlie (the other dog) sleeps in our room, she'll get used to it though.

mustrunmore · 06/03/2007 08:47

Chloe, that is why these boys will never have a pet of their own! We just need to make a friend with an animal

Jelley; ds1 is pretty much guaranteed a school place, as long as we fill in the school form and the LEA form (school seems to ignore the LEA system, so you have to do both ). I did ds2's nursery and school forms last week

Def no second run last night; was about 9.30 by the time i'd got 'stuff' done. I hate the mundane side of life!

If this boy throws one more toy down the stairs, I'm going to courier him to one of you lot to keep. He's driving me mad! Left him to play in their bedroom this morning while I got dressed; heard a wimper and sent ds1 to have a look. He burst into fits of laughter, saying 'come and look'. Ds2 was standing on the bookcase hanging onto pictures on the wall for dear life He must've climbed onto ds1's bed, then onto the bookcase, then couldn't get down

mustrunmore · 06/03/2007 08:48

Chloe; how long did that 1.5 miles take you? Just out of interest, and to keep me on my toes I still need a big kick up the bum.

Chloe55 · 06/03/2007 09:06

15mins, literally just over a walk pace really but I'm still chuffed.

damewashalot · 06/03/2007 09:26

Love the thread title
Had a good weekend, all very exciting.

I like HP books, haven't let ds1 read them yet but will soon, he's in to famous five just now. He has got his bookwormness ( not a word I know) from me, I will read anything, Have never managed all of Emma though, odd as I've read Pride and pred loads of times.
Giving up small boy on lap does not want me to be on here, typing too hard

Flamesparrow · 06/03/2007 10:01

Bookwormness is clearly a word!!

MRM - You send him to me and you either get a whirlwind or a biter in exchange (I would send them dressed as pirates for you though).

Chloe - yay for running (I think... still very about all exercising, but tis for a good cause)

CSWS - Hope the stronger anti-b's help.

Erm... forgotten the rest.

Back from housing benefits office with an armful of forms to fill in... now off to work out how to do a 6 months projection!

damewashalot · 06/03/2007 10:49

Argh, must leave computer, got distracted by Enid Blyton thread

Flamesparrow · 06/03/2007 11:15

"goodwill gesture" gone into bank accounts

3k · 06/03/2007 12:35

Hi ladies,

Well had night from hell with DS, he woke screaming with temperature at 2am then again at 4am which was 39.4 degrees. I stripped him down to vest and nappy and called NHS direct and was told to "see how he goes for 2 - 3 days and if no improvemnet then take him to GP". He was tugging his ear so I called doctor this morning and he has an ear infection and has antibiotics. Dont think I'll be calling NHS direct in the future

Nothing much has changed with DH - he told me he loved me but he doesnt think it is enough so he kind of ended it on Sun but spoke to him last night and he is missing me and feeling miserable without me. I really dont know what is going to happen, I am not coping too well without him I know that much but I suppose only time will tell.

Will catch up with ya all later, got to get some book-keeping done now.

Flamesparrow · 06/03/2007 18:04

Thinking about you lots 3K

Have cooked DC a decent dinner for the first time in ages. Poor things have been eating cr*p for weeks and it shows in DD's behaviour and energy

MRM - I read it

CSWS - I remember making a tomatoey veg saucey thing - what was in it and how did you cook it? (Easy slow cooker things are part of my "be a mum and a working person" thing). Need to get a slow cooker, but that's a minor thing!

Better go do some work whilst they eat.

mustrunmore · 06/03/2007 18:08

Ha! Was just thinking abut you this afternoon Flame, when ds1 was on the phone to my Mum.. "but the Seigfried Line wasnt a washing line you know, it was a train track that they tried to explode" His new fave cd is 'songs from the Blitz'

These boys had M+S pasta salad for tea But I did do a veggie stir fry for lunch with lots a good fresh stuff in, so I'm not that bad, am I?

Might be back on later...

Chloe55 · 06/03/2007 18:12

My ds had dog biscuits for his tea, oh and lots of cardboard

CanSleepWeirdShifts · 06/03/2007 20:38

I couldn't even remember what we ate when you were here flame (except meatballs), but if it was as I usually make then aubergine, courgette, mushrooms and peppers all diced (aubergine smaller than the others) and roasted in olive oil in oven (oh yes, I remember now that we used the slow cooker on the day we were in London, but I usually do in normal oven) - you can add a bit of garlic and/or herbs too if you want. Once cooked, add tinned chopped tomatoes and heat through (still in oven). Either leave as is or whizz in the blender if you want it to coat the pasta well, or do a mixture of both.

My dd ate tonnes of sprouts (well, about 12) for tea, as well as some broccoli, some mashed carrot and swede, some roast potato, and a whole load of blueberries.

for ear infection and for dh 3k.

Think the new ABs may be helping - head not quite as painful today (although they've given me upset tummy again).

Visitors ok so far - mum now doing my ironing .

3k · 06/03/2007 21:44

Hope you feel better soon CSWS, DS has had two lots of antibiotics today, now has diarroah and was really sick earlier. It takes forever for me to dose him up, gave him calpol at 6pm, then his antibiotics and gave him a dose of calprofen at 8pm but he threw it all up. Really hope he sleeps ok tonight, he started to feel a bit hot again when I put him down.

I think CSWS should write a book on baby meals - you could be the new Annabel Carmel!!!!!

Flamesparrow · 06/03/2007 22:36

Thanks

Pics in my profile of Emrys and his birthday breakfast - I didn't know DH had taken them (MN food police alert - coco pops is birthday breakfasts here)

Chloe55 · 07/03/2007 08:37

Awwww Flame, he's such a smiler.

I feel like crap today, getting bouts of tummy ache and have woken up with sore throat and snotty Really cross though because I could do with not slacking on the running, I know me, it will take me forever to pick it up again if I take time out!

On a brighter note guess how much I lost at weight watchers - 4.5lbs!!!! Tbh most of that must be from the running, I have been reasonably good this week but not strict by any stretch of the imagination - soooooooooooo chuffed.

mustrunmore · 07/03/2007 08:49

Yes, a very grubby smiler

Chloe, you're doing so well . I've lost..... nothing. In fact, I'm sure when ds2 was born I only lost his 9lb 14, and nothing since Managed to get 30 mins on the treadmill last night, but it was a very very very slow jog. I'd inteneded to do more than 30, hence the lack of speed, but it was sooo hot because dh put the heating on , and I cant just reach and open the window without stopping now due to new locks! Mind you, I did finally finish the book I began at xmas too!

CanSleepWeirdShifts · 07/03/2007 09:22

Breastfeeders especially read this .
