Ah, there, I have to admit that dh is great; if he's on a late shift, he gets up to do breakfast with the boys while I lie in then tidy up/put clothes away etc upstairs. If he didnt, he'd never see them! But I do see that as a fair distribution of labour, as then he's on lates I end up with alot of bedtimes to do alone. Sometimes ther are easy if ds1 is tired enough. But if he's had friends round and trashed his room, its a nightmare. He goes into behaviour meltdown just as I'm doing tea, and then I need to sort the room out ast least enough to beat a path to his bed! But I cant leave them alone together while i do it with him in tired mode, so I have to take ds2 with me, who then cries because he thinks he's going to bed There's one friend in particular that comes round and just empties every single toy box/container, generally kicks all the stuff round. Others just play with a few things at a time. Which is nicer! I'm all for free play, but there's a difference between that and just trashing and leaving! But they're good friends, and it does help me entertain ds1 for the last bit of the afternoon.

Going to try and get ds2's overdue jabs done today, but only have an hour, so I'm not late to collect ds1 (no one else can collect him Jelley, as they're all picking their own kids up at that time! All our friends go to diff nurseries!) Clinic delays are usually pretty bad, so I'm not holding out much hope of success!!

Jas - I think I might have forgotten to put in two of your liners... can you let me know when they come please? (Posted this mornign)

Chloe55 · 05/03/2007 12:21

I should think myself lucky - dh gets up with ds practically every morning. I get up too, go down and sort the bottle but ds gets him out of the cot and does the nappy change - this is mainly because I have a crappy back and it is almost impossible for me to pick him out of his cot first thing in the morning. I obviously do more with ds because I only work part time but hour for hour we are probably split down the middle for nappy changes/feeding/playing etc.

Jelley · 05/03/2007 12:33

mrm - I read your posts and am so glad I'm past that stage with the dds. One pre-schooler at a time is a doddle once you've had to cope with more.
It will get easier.
I was in similar position whenthey were small, but I will be choosing ds' nursey based on the number of children already the that I know this time.

Flame - Don't worry about it

Can I boast about dd1? (no one in rl is interested) She read the 4th Harry Potter book (Great huge hardback) in 3 days

Flamesparrow · 05/03/2007 13:02

My mum is looking at a job at a different school - it sounds amazing but at the same time there is the "but you are there for emergency pick ups" at the current one

MRM - you still do much more with your DS1 than I do with DD I had all these plans - I was going to be a making, painting mummy... that mummy got tired and wandered off into MN

Jelley - great taste in books and great reading. I have started reading the first one to DD... I don't think she's taking much in, but I'm enjoying myself.

Had a long chat with the wbb lady today - now much more confident about what I am stocking, how to answer queries on here, and just more confident about this whole thing

CanSleepWeirdShifts · 05/03/2007 13:03

I pity your dd's taste in literature Jelley, but well done for the speed .

Still v ill here - have made another doc appt for this afternoon as the pain just isn't easing, and it's day 5 of antibiotics already.

Did you manage to get jab done mrm? dd has hers at last on Thurs pm. Will then need to book up mmr. Presume everyone is going ahead with that?

Flamesparrow · 05/03/2007 13:14

DS is still waiting for his prevenar second one, the hib men c one... and then I will entertain the idea of MMR. He's not having it until he is at least the same size as an average 15-18 month old.

Have you read Harry Potter CSWS?

Flamesparrow · 05/03/2007 13:15

I forgot to do a for you not feeling well still

CanSleepWeirdShifts · 05/03/2007 13:24

Nope. Never read nor seen any HP or LOTR.

Jelley · 05/03/2007 13:42

I haven't read either, but my mum loves them and is lending dd the books. I read the first HP to dd1 when she was4/5 and she got bored. We never finished it

I'm at the same stage as Flame with ds' injections, mostly dure to drs being late with prevenar (only had first one last week, they are going to find out if he still needs two)

for not feeling any better csws. Hope Dr can suggest something.

OP posts:
Flamesparrow · 05/03/2007 13:43

Bah, you know nothing then

Jelley · 05/03/2007 13:47

I know I should like them, but just can't. Mum used to read the Hobbit to her class every year (6/7 yr olds) but I was never in her class thankfully.
I read tons of other fantasy stuff.

I'm not reading at all atm. I've has the same book for weeks and have given up taking library books out (except the Pilates one I got out today).

OP posts:
Flamesparrow · 05/03/2007 13:52

Oh the hobbit I didn't get into properly until I read it at about 19 - I tried lots before that but just couldn't.

Loved LOTR - had been put off by the bulk, but they were easy. Harry Potter is just nice magical things

The Abhorsen Trilogy are better for people wanting more adult mystics and magic, but still with the easy childlike quality. I loved those and prefer them to HP.

CanSleepWeirdShifts · 05/03/2007 14:01

LOTR is the only book that dh has ever started and not finished, because he didn't like it. This is a man who buys over 100 books each year, and will read a cornflake packet if it's put in front of him.

Flamesparrow · 05/03/2007 14:25

Jane Eyre is my book for that!

Chloe55 · 05/03/2007 14:26

I have a new addition to the family, no, I'm not pg, my new place of work has found my weak side and I have been fobbed off with fostering a greyhound!!! Not sure for how long, my heart says forever coz she is adorable but my head and hubby say NO! I know they are right, and we already have one dog, but she is lovely

I don't do Harry Potter either.

Chloe55 · 05/03/2007 14:27

Thought LOTR (the film, haven't read the book) was crap too. I think I am the only person I know who doesn't like it.

Frizbe · 05/03/2007 15:31

found you all! I'll try and add some photos of dd2's party yesterday in a bit, as my friend came over with her digi camera yest and took some for me

Chloe, you soppy thin

CSWS the sinus thing is horrible, a friend had it for ages last year, {{{{Big Hugs}}}}}

Was lol at your conversations about your dh's, I know what you all mean tho, when I left dh to feed the girls the other saturday, he managed baked beans on toast for them both, but got bean juice all over the kitchen, I was finding it for days quite how it got on the cupboards below the hob, as well as the ones above it and miles away by the window is anyones guess (or maybe he let dd1 make dinner herself!)

Had a horrible shock this am, much to the kids delight a bloody passing bird, crapped on my head thankfully I had wetwipes to hand, ick, but phew.

Frizbe · 05/03/2007 15:31

OMG just realised what the thead title is

2boysmacca · 05/03/2007 16:10

Feel crap. Dh taken the day off to have the kids. Phoned mum to come down tomorrw and take the boys.

Going to crawl back to the sofa and stuff my face with chcolate - ok maybe not the chocolate but definitely going to curl up.

PhoenixGirl · 05/03/2007 16:37

i sit here all day yesterday bored stiff and no one comes on here, i go out today and everone's here. Trying to tell me something

Since i got home from my friends i've made it my mission to get me and ds into a dentist (i haven't been for 10 year ) and i think i've found one. They're taking nhs patients on but she said it'll be a week before she can ring me back about it. I bet you're all thinking why didn't i go when it was free? The answer is i'm scared of dentists and really don't want to go but i don't want to make ds scared too.

macca and csws - hope you both feel better soon.

Flame - another leaky disposable this am.

Chloe - Did you run all the way round Pugneys? Well done if you did, it's hard enough walking round it

Oh ds has woke up i'll be back later to reply to the rest cos i can't remember anything else now

PhoenixGirl · 05/03/2007 16:39

Oh just quickly, I read all Harry Potter books when i was pregnant and think they're really good. Also seen all the films. LOTR books/films have never interested me.

Flamesparrow · 05/03/2007 18:52

How's this for freaky coincidence... DH joined a new guild in WoW - found out today 2 members live in Bournemouth and one has a daughter at preschool with DD!!!

2boysmacca · 05/03/2007 19:40

WoW???

Frizbe · 05/03/2007 19:51

Flame how mad is that! what guilds he joined (dh wondering ) mind you he's not had much time to play it recently, ss is playing it more!!

Chloe, well done on the park girl, I just checked which one it was with dh! you did bloody well to run around there its huge!

World of Warcraft Macca its a dh thing. Yawn.

Have tried to upload pics of Neves bday to mumsnet towers, not sure if they've worked or not, as nothing showing on my page yet, but it said they'd gone, so if you'd all like to check in a bit we shall see!
