thanks hula,

DH is still shaken and i don't think he slept well, i know i didn't kept worse case scenario-ing in my head. its all just so scary and worrying at the lack of hospital input.

JonahB · 09/10/2007 12:38

Katz, thank g-d no-one was hurt!! How awful for you and all concerned!!!!

tribpot · 12/10/2007 17:43

Just a quick update from Hula's other thread, P has been to the GP and has an emergency neuro referral, so that's good.

Two updates from me - funnily both about my post on 14th September.

The second of the two possible promotions was advertised today (I've already applied for the first, but haven't heard anything about an interview and it was weeks ago). So now have tricky situation of (a) vacancy as described to me by potential new boss bears no resemblance to how it has been described to anyone else and (b) someone else in the team already thinks it's his.

Re: dh's referral to endocrinology, the GP is scandalised by the cancelling of the appointment. He asked me to phone the consultant's secretary, which I duly did, and she said "oh yeah, you'll probably get a phone call two weeks before the appointment" (meaning what? You are meant to put life on hold for six months every six months, waiting to know when the next appointment will be? And this is progress?) I said "but that's the point, we don't have an appointment" to which she replied "oh you'll probably get seen on the same day".

So let me get this straight. They brought dh's appointment forward by three months because of concerns about the hormone levels in his blood tests (and ordered extra tests). The appointment was then cancelled and we have no idea when we might get seen. And after all that, they are going to phone and offer us the same bloody slot we had before?!?!

Obviously I feel I am slightly to blame for this in a professional capacity but equally it is a completely shoddy way to be going about things.

Hi

Katz- sorry to hear of the scary near miss, sure was lucky to get control of car. My dad taught me to be able to use handbrake from a very young age, not sure if it's the best option, but you never know if it might be. my dad is now in the reverse situation now, he has a license but all the family will not let him drive, he had a stroke and now doesn't have the best reflexes. but medically they say he can drive

trib- sorry to hear of your appointment dramas, sounds incredibly complex, how terrible to have to wait that long.

We are all well, there was the expected tantrums from ds1 adjusting to the new baby, but I expect we would have had those anyway He is talking so well, a complete chatterbox, i love it when he pops out with words you don't know he knows. nothing naughty, he just said echidna today, and i thought, how'd he know that

ds2 is a complete joy, he's such a good baby it makes me want anotherhe is quite big already over 12lb and is now 8 weeks.

katz · 14/10/2007 08:29

thanks for updating for me trib - have been soooo busy at work at the mo.

Sorry to hear of your appointment traumas, we got lucky recently with one of Annalise's, we were at one appointment moaning about having having not been referred when the doctot went to check and it turns out we had been and the appointment was the next week!

tribpot · 17/10/2007 18:19

More appointment weirdness, today dh got a letter from the same hospital (the one implementing this alleged new booking system) saying dh needs to be seen by the consultant who runs the sleep clinic, with an appointment date and time. Eh?

Uki - sounds like your little boys are keeping you busy! I know what you mean about unexpected new words. Ds' favourite at the moment is "oh, excellent" and occasionally "marvellous".

katz · 19/10/2007 16:17

loving the new words, currently dd2 is over using the word 'actually'. when asked what she wants for breakfast we get 'well actually i'd like cornflakes!' so cute!

very excited 8 more sleeps then we're away on holiday! yeah!

Bubbaloo · 19/10/2007 19:19

'Marvellous' is the latest new word here too-have no idea where he gets it from either.

Had to laugh earlier today as ds1 was charging around the living room and when I asked him what he was doing I was told 'I'm exercising mummy'.Shame I don't have the same enthusiasm to do the same.

katz · 22/10/2007 10:26

new phrase of the moment over the weekend has been 'i can do it easy'

sfxmum · 22/10/2007 15:43

2yr olds are lots of fun, dd waits for me to come in from jogging to do stretches with me

she also calls herself 'majesty' or 'fairy princess' no idea where she got that from

and when I ask her to look for something my little drama queen says (without ever actually looking) 'but mummy it's impossible' with much expressive hand gestures and deep sighs!!

NAB3 · 22/10/2007 15:48

Hello people! Bet no one remembers us! Just thought I would pop in and say DS2 got new shoes today. Size 8!!!

Uki · 23/10/2007 12:24

NAB I remember you well, how are you? what's happening with ds besides the big feet?

I love reading all the new words and strange phrases they are cute.
I must admit my favorite is any phrase with mummy, i just love being called mummy, not that long ago i never thought i could be a mummy feels special indeed.

anyone getting their junies anything special for christmas?

NAB3 · 23/10/2007 13:20

Ds2 has been in his big boy bed for just over 2 weeks now. Had thought about potty training this week but decided to leave it. May try tmw when I have sent the older ones to Nanny's.

Favourite saying from DS2 is "Okay!" when I ask him to do something.

He can count 2, 3 4 8, 9 and is adorable. Off for hair cut this afternoon.

Bubbaloo · 23/10/2007 23:33

Evening,

Hi Nab-I also remember you.Glad to hear you're all well.

Uki-Ds1's main christmas pressie is a large wheelybug mouse. He still whizzes around on the small bee he has,but has finally outgrown it.He also has a few Peppa Pig stocking fillers as he's PP mad.

Spent the day at Colchester Zoo with dh,ds1 and fil which was nice.Ds sang all the way home in the car 'we're going to the zoo,zoo zoo with grandad too too too' bless him.

Off to Legoland tomorrow.

sfxmum · 25/10/2007 11:28

Christmas presents well I think Iggle Piggle and Peppa will feature , she is also asking for a truck which tips and binoculars

we bough a talking Peppa for a friends' birthday next week and it is proving a challenge to keep her from it she is slowly accepting that it is not for her

KATeZdracular · 25/10/2007 20:15

hello all

i remember your too NAB welcome back

I'm trying to not think about christmas just yet! off on holiday on saturday to Disneyland Paris with Hulababy, really looking forward to it!

JonahB · 27/10/2007 21:05

Today is a MOMENTOUS day in the jonah household. DS1 has finally, FINALLY done a wee in his potty. I realise most of your LO's will be entirely potty trained by now and that it was a pure accident, rather than intentional, but i don't care!! he has refused to do anything at all other than in his nappy. He also refuses to tell us when he has done anything iykwim. I was so proud of him, i gave him a lorry sticker .

sfrightx · 28/10/2007 14:20

applause for master Jonah the first
well done may it be the first of many

dd likes us to appreciate her 'beautiful fantastic wee wees'

NAB3 · 31/10/2007 13:09

Can I join in and say DS2 has done quite a few wees on the potty, usually when I am about to put him to bed, and he gives me a bit of warning about a poo. I haven't started trying to get him out of nappies yet as I am not sure he is completely ready as he doesn't tell me every time, and I find it really daunting with having the others to look after too.

Bubbaloo · 01/11/2007 13:39

Woohoo for your ds1 Jonah.

Oscar isn't potty trained and I don't think I'll be starting any time soon.He has a potty and knows what it's for but he's definately not ready yet. We're hoping to move house in the new year,so maybe we'll start potty training then.
We are however, still having fun and games here too as we decided to ditch the dummy 3 days ago.

sfxmum · 02/11/2007 19:59

hi everyone how you getting on with the fireworks? are you taking your junies along?

we are planning on taking dd tomorrow. very mild here and fairly sunny so we spent a fair amount of time at kew as per usual

dd is now toilet trained and has been for a while, also no nappies over night. she does however sometimes wee on the floor on purpose
also I am quite chicken and when out she wears pull ups, sometimes she remembers she needs to go sometimes not too many distractions

still ttc #2 so keeping fingers crossed

NAB3sparklesandflashes · 03/11/2007 18:06

We bought the ones specifically for young children and after about 3 LO was saying "no like mummmy. mummy in. mummmy play"

Bubbaloo · 03/11/2007 22:46

We've had a few going off around here and I don't think ds1 is too keen as he keeps saying 'loud noise mummy' and he's only just come around to the hoover being on.
Do feel a bit mean though as we're going to friends on Tuesday for fireworks and food,so we shall see.
Hopefully when he sees my friends girls enjoying themselves,he won't be too bad.
Mum's having ds2 though as he'll hate it!

Sfx-everything crossed for you.x

JonahB · 08/11/2007 19:24

I've had an interesting day here. 1st day potty training today. The washing matchine now contains the following: 9 pairs of pants, 3 tshirts, 2 jumpers, 2 sheets and 1 duvet cover. Before you ask, we did put nappies on for the daytime sleep. His royal highness decided to take them off. Twice!
I am seriously hoping this gets easier!

SFX - good luck!!

VanillaPumpkin · 08/11/2007 19:31

Hello all, it is me Skyler with a new name. Shhh, don't tel anyone .
Just poping by to share in the dreaded potty training tales. We have been at it for a week now and sometimes dd2 is sooooo good she amazes me and sometimes she is so rubbish it makes me want to despair. Ho hum. I will stick with it though as I truly believe she is def ready. Fingers crossed.
DD2 has size 7 feet. I thought that was big for a girl. Esp as her sister who is 2.4 years older is still a 9 . She is tall though, about 6 mths ahead of dd1 in the clothes stakes IYSWIM. Anyway love to you and all your Junies xxxx
