thanks for trains info on trains Trib, these days our friends entice us their way with details of nearby steam railways with Thomas themes

I don't know how feasible it will be this year as things are tight at the moment

Bubb - hi there, I expect with a baby it is harder to toilet train the toddler.
dd has been in full on toddler mode which is tiring and at times annoying, why shout when she can talk and explain properly? but of course a choice scream gets more public attention.
food wise she grazes more than has a meal and as we have dinner as a family she does it more at dinner but not always.

sorry about the various sicknesses no idea how people cope with properly ill children. dd was sick only once, and high ish temp only twice. she does have sniffles and coughs but nothing serious, so far at least.

katz · 04/10/2007 14:28

bubbaloo - i knwo your real life name but there are 30 other facebookers with the same name! do you know my real life name? if not can you change your facebook photo to something like a flower and then i can find you!

tribpot · 04/10/2007 15:43

This is exciting, isn't it? Bubb, I shall track you down once katz has!

Bubbaloo · 04/10/2007 21:28

Katz-It's such a common name isn't it.I think I know your name too-I will check it out.

It's not a very flattering pic of me but it's one where I haven't got pink hair and I've got a black and green top on,aswell as my glasses.I've also only got 11 friends on there,as I only joined recently so I should be easy to spot.

katz · 04/10/2007 21:56

will have another look, my facebook listing is my real name (same as my email addy) and kinda related to my mumsnet name old and new! and then a nee my maiden name

Bubbaloo · 04/10/2007 21:56

Katz-I think I've found you on there and have sent you a message.

katz · 04/10/2007 21:58

Bubbaloo · 04/10/2007 22:09

Someone looks familar on there-I think it's Sfx,although knowing me,I've probably got that totally wrong.

Will go and scrutinise everyone now.

TheSFXshape · 05/10/2007 10:02

Hi I don't know Jonah but I am the one with sunglasses and dd, don't think I ever met you in person Bubb

feel free to find me anyone on this thread that is

tribpot · 06/10/2007 10:10

Uuurrrrggghhhhh the Season of the Puke has claimed me at last. Was expecting a visit from dbro and family today as well, instead will have to be in isolation all weekend

JonahB · 06/10/2007 16:48

SFX, Bubb - cooee!!! You've found me!!! nice to know what you both look like .

Trib, that's a nightmare about your boss. Unfortunately, i am in a similar position as I have been found by a number of people who work with me. As I try to put across a vaguely professional image at work (wiping off the baby sick from my shoulder as i go into the office), i'm hoping that no one writes anything to contentious on my wall.

katz · 07/10/2007 21:33

Trib - sorry to hear about the lurgy hitting - yuck! not had that one here thank fully, just the snotty grotty cold.

Scary day here today, Dh, hulababy's DH and a couple of other of the lads had a night out last night and stayed over at her place, whilst hulababy and her dd stayed at my house. All good.

This morning one of the lads, P, started to drive Dh and hula's DH back to ours, with another friend following in his car behind.

2 minutes into journey, with no warning, P had a big fit at the wheel. DH and hula's DH realised when car was drifiting towardsoncoming cyclist that something was massively wrong. P was shaking, foaming at mouth, glazed over, making funny breathing noises, etc. And with no control over the car which was no starting to swerve.

Luckily on very straight and wide road, although on downhill slope, but automatic car. hula's Dh grabbed wheel and managed to control it, and then had to let go, get down in seat and stop car using the brake with his hands! And poor ol Dh was shouting out at P to get his attention, and trying to guide hula's DH too.

Got ambulance, and managed to flag down 4 people, all of whom were doctors bizarely. P was completely out of it, not a clue where he was or anything.

And this is when I think it gets very worrying - P had no memory of this, no history, nothing to suggest it was going to happen. Hospital monitored his blood pressure and took a pottasium and blood sugar level, and then a couple of hours discharged him. No explanation or anything, and no further tests. That's it. He had a big fit, at the wheel of a car, for no reason - and he was free to leave and drive again. He collected his car from us after leaving the hospital and went home on the motorway!

we are stunned he can drive straight away and they aren't doing any further tests or investigations. Is this normal? He could have injured (or worse) that cyclist, or himself, or the others. What if they'd been on a busier road or the motorway, what if he'd been alone in the car, or had had his 6yo son int he car, like he did yesterday, what if......? Doesn't this warrant firther tests before being free to get in a car and drive again?

All DH's very shaken, DH and the guy behind found ti hard because they had to just watch and couldn't do anything to control the situation - one from back seat, one from car behind. Hula's Dh didn't have time to think about it as he was the one in the passenger seat so was busy.

Very scary for all. Thank goodness they were all ok, and P seems to be ok, if no memory of anything at all.

sfxmum · 07/10/2007 21:45

OMG katz that does sound horribly scary - no neurological exam? after a fit out of the blue? scary!

glad all ok but I hope your friend sees his doctor asap.

Jonah hi it was a good guess

trib sorry about the ill health, I have a cold and feel miserable but mostly just sorry for myself, nothing serious

tribpot · 08/10/2007 05:47

Holy crap katz! That is unbelievable! As sfx says, he needs to be seeing his GP pronto and also I'd suggest taking himself off the road for a while. Can't believe the hospital didn't think further tests were warranted, that is bizarre. Sounds suspiciously like they wanted them to come out of the GP's budget not theirs

Thank goodness everyone's okay.

2Happy · 08/10/2007 08:07

Oh dear God, Katz, no he must see his GP ASAP and he must NOT drive - the DVLA guidelines are quite clear, and he should complain strongly to the hospital that they didn't explain to him. His GP will get a letter from the casualty department, but he shouldn't wait for the GP to follow it up, just make appt himself.
dvla clear - a year off driving even for a one-off seizure.
How frightening for your friend and for dh, good on him for braking with his hands!!

Hulababy · 08/10/2007 09:21

How' DH today Katz? My Dh is somewhat shaken today, probably more so than yesterday. P has gone to work as far as I know, is driving and not planing on seeing GP about it. He has no memory of any of it and I just don't think he has any sense of how serious all this was!

tribpot · 08/10/2007 11:42

Hula What does his DW think? Would she let him drive with their 6 year old in the car?

If he won't go to the GP, I would seriously think about reporting him to the police. Is he committing an offence by driving without notifying the DVLA?

Hulababy · 08/10/2007 11:51

He isn't married. C is his exwife. Not had chance to talk to her since it all happened and he was discharges, so not sure. Will probably talk to her sometime in week though.

Hulababy · 08/10/2007 11:52

I couldn't ever report him - he's a solicitor, it'd ruin his career! I will however keep nagging until he has seen that GP and done what he needs to do. I don't see him that often though so hae to be via email.

2Happy · 08/10/2007 12:04

"Failure to notify DVLA is a criminal offence and is punishable by a fine of up to £1000."

In addition, if he were to suffer a seizure behind the wheel again and, God forbid, injure another road user, his insurance would not cover him, he would be liable for all costs (let alone the injured party's wrath!).

You can call his GP and ask them to make contact with him - really and truly, they ought to twig when they get the A&E discharge note and do this anyway.

tribpot · 08/10/2007 12:18

2Happy, if you see on Hula's other thread, the chances of A&E making the connection with the GP aren't that high. Hula, I think if he's determined to ignore you, you'll need to at least threaten to report him to the DVLA, even if you have no intention of going through with it.

Hulababy · 08/10/2007 12:18

I wouldn't have a clue who his Gp was since he moved. I'll chat with his exwife and see if she knows what is happening. Have already sent him info re DVLA and insurance.

2Happy · 08/10/2007 13:08

I have never known an A&E department that does not (if given the correct info by a patient when booking in) pass a summary of info to a GP.

Hulababy · 08/10/2007 13:20

Update for Katz especially - DH has spoken to P. P hasn't gone into work in the end and he is going to see his GP on Wednesday. He still has no recollection at all of before, during or after the fit. He will still be driving at present but Dh has told him all the car insurance and DVLA advise. So we have done our bit.
