sfxmum · 20/09/2007 18:28

just don't tell mister Brown imagine that! all powerful mwwaaa

katzjazzhandscheeseygrin · 20/09/2007 21:35

hi everyone!

nice to see a few faces around. hope everyone is enjoying there little people.

muma - so sorry to hear your news, hope the future turns more sunny for you soon.

sfx - huge sympathy for your friend who lost her DH, when she ready it might be worth mentioning the WAY foundation, my MIL helped to build this charity and its fab, it supports young widows and widowers, let me know if you want more details.

We have had some sucess with the potty but we are still unable to take the final push because DD2 still has digestive issues linked to her skin condition. we are back at the childrens tomorrow and i will jump up and down because we still havem't had our referral for her skin prick tests and now her arms have rash on them and it will be too hard to do! grrrrrrr.

sfxmum · 21/09/2007 13:10

is there a reason for the or just because?

am quite surprised the potty training seems to be ok,although she still wears pull ups when out as I can't guarantee a toilet in time.
also dry during night for a week.
mind you she also did a huge wee in the kitchen yesterday although I think that was a protest wee

2Happy · 21/09/2007 15:21

Humph. Every time ds1 tells me he needs a poo and I get him to the toilet/potty on time he decides it was just a fart after all. I am clearly going to be the first mum to be potty training an 8 year old!

sfxmum · 22/09/2007 11:50

2Happy we had plenty of sitting on the potty and please mummy/ daddy read me a story or 4we were at the point of thinking she was developing a fetish for bare bottom story reading.

katz - hope the hospital appointment went ok.

dd seems keen on going to school but I don't think she understands what is really involved, she has also started asking for a sibling, again don't think she knows what is involved.

thanks for thoughts on mate she is a MN mate from our local group. funeral tuesday I will be attending. can't really stop thinking about them.
katz thanks for advice, we have been in touch with Yorkiegirl as well for practical advice so we can help in the weeks and months to come

sfxmum · 24/09/2007 10:46

BTW are any of you on Facebook?

I have just found another way to waste my time

tribpot · 24/09/2007 13:05

sfx, I am reluctantly on Facebook and katz is on too. Will link to you forthwith but I have no truck with all this 'let's pretend to be pirates' nonsense!

So very sorry to hear about your friend, what an awful shock

We're in early days of potty training, in ds running round the house with nothing on after a nappy change. dh was trying to make him sit on the potty if he didn't want a nappy on but I think this is probably a bad idea, as how will he learn to tell us when he needs to do a pee?

sfxmum · 24/09/2007 13:31

aha marking territory seems to be part of this lark

Pirates? oh no I am middle aged

I heard there are vampires too

am trying to see if I find people randomly who actually know each other 6 degrees and all that

katz · 24/09/2007 14:40

i'm on facebook possibly a little more diffiult to find than trib as i use both my surnames! if you still have an old email address if mine try emailing that and i ill tell you my facebook name!!! or look for me on tribs!

hospital appointment went really well, dermatologist thinks rash is fading and now we just need to sort of digestive problems! yeah!!!!

hope everyone is well

2Happy · 24/09/2007 20:57

Aaah facebook. Scrabulous will be the ruin of my marriage

JonahB · 24/09/2007 22:37

Evening all,

2happy ? I?ll be with you with the 8 yr old not potty trained. Trust me. DS1 not only hasn't done anything at all in either the potty or toilet, he also seems incapable of telling me when he either needs a poo or has just been! What can you do when a junie doesn?t seem to be aware of going? If you ask him, he just says yes, cos he thinks that?s what you want to hear. Sigh. Still, on the bright side, I?ve got until he goes to school

SFX/Trib/2happy/katz ? Facebook is my latest addiction too

sfxmum · 25/09/2007 10:10

time wasters anonymous I think.

tribpot · 25/09/2007 10:59

Do you all have time to play the games on Facebook? Very impressive time management, esp those of you with two kids!

Jonah, I think I've tried to link to you but not sure the request went through.

JonahB · 25/09/2007 12:53

Trib - you've found me . Hi Katz!!! Now you 2 will actually see what a slacker mum i really am!!!!

katz · 25/09/2007 16:08

how can you tell if someone is a slacker mum throuhg facebook? its msn that gives me away as a slacker mum and worker! i'm always logged in and happy to chat!

sfxmum · 28/09/2007 09:59

and this week I have mostly been on facebook wiping snotty noses, oh the joy!

do you all have your heating on? ours is not working, this despite us being very responsible and having our quite new boiler serviced in the summer

having said that I quite like this season

hope you are all well

tribpot · 29/09/2007 12:38

sfx, I don't think our heating is on yet. But we haven't yet figured out how to work it anyway, so it might be!

Here's a classic from my friend with the very young baby (she's about 3 weeks old now). For the second weekend in a row, her dad has gone to France for the rugby world cup. (My friend's mum comes over to help her). He's also in the process of opening two new cafes and needs to get them up and running in time for the Christmas shopping trade. The manageress of one of them has let him down at the last minute (actually 2 days after opening) so instead of taking a paternity break as planned, he will now be working 24*7 (except when the word cup is on ).

So my friend texted him yesterday and said "I feel like your priorities are: 1, the shops. 2, the rugby world cup. 3, your dd and me"

He replied ... and you'll like this ...

"That's still a podium finish".

My response was "it's a good job he is in France or I'd be down there now with my hands round his neck".

sfxmum · 29/09/2007 12:45

a choice kick in the balls I feel!

have no tolerance for that sorry. this is where feminism is an issue for all, it is not just women working (good as it is providing choices) but parenting true equal parenting, responsibility for life choices

oh god I rant

so have you driven your car yet?
I resolutely refuse to have cars, I know not an option for you

tribpot · 29/09/2007 13:11

Not yet, sfx. Obviously I can't avoid it for long as I do most of the driving, hey ho.

I share your sentiments re: my friend's dh and I know the two of us have gone for a different parenting model than a lot of people - either through choice or circumstance. And in fairness to this guy, he is a very successful businessman so there's no way he could change his whole mindset in the three weeks that dd has been here, to some extent he probably never will. But having to be away for work is a very different thing from having to be away for the sodding rugby.

We all have to go through a big adjustment when the baby arrives and I guess that probably does take longer for a trad dad, who is back at work within a few days or weeks, and life stays much more similar to the way it was than it does for mums or untrad dads like our dhs.

That's the positive spin on it - let's hope my friend's dh learns his lesson! And pronto! I look forward to torturing him with the "at least it's a podium finish" phrase in years to come.

tribpot · 30/09/2007 17:32

Btw, northern Junies, KVG has been in touch on Facebook and hopes there is a meet-up planned for soon. We really must get on with that! We could almost plan it on Facebook! Woot!

katz · 03/10/2007 15:58

oo meet-up sounds good, but i think the southerns have to come north this time!

TheSFXshape · 03/10/2007 18:26

is there a scenic steam railway up there? that's the kind of thing dd likes

I think cash will be tight until christmas (not to mention january) but we could do with a weekend away

katz · 03/10/2007 18:54

no idea - trib might know, theres a railway thingy in york but not sure what!

Bubbaloo · 03/10/2007 21:49

Evening All,
Seems like it been ages since I've posted on here.
Sfx-Sorry to hear about your friend. That's the 2nd person I've heard about recently. There's another M'netter who has also just lost her dh and although I've only met up with her once,I haven't been able to stop thinking about her.She has 2 children the same age as our 2 and it is just so very sad.
Still haven't even started on the potty training yet-ds1 is nowhere near ready yet.Having major problems trying to get him to eat though which is a nightmare. He certainly doesn't take after me that's for sure.
Ds2 is now nearly 6 months old and I really don't know where the time has gone!

Not much else going on here, except trying to move house which is causing a few problems, although very excited about moving.

Hope everyone else is well.

I've also recently joined Facebook,so if anyone happens to know my RL name, please feel free to say hello to me.I'm still trying to fathom it out and haven't quite become an addict...yet.

tribpot · 04/10/2007 07:06

sfx, practically half of Yorkshire is given over to steam railways. Slight exaggeration but I can name four without even having to think so clearly they are in abundance! And yes, there is the National Railway Museum right next to York station. That would be doable as a day trip if you fancied, given a fair wind and the right trains from London. The Railway Museum has a big Thomas shop in it, I understand.

Bubb - nice to see you again! Moving house sounds like ... hmm, fun?! I don't think I have any idea of your real name, so you are safe from me on Facebook.

My potentially future boss joined Facebook after he heard me talking about it with someone in the office. I am one of his three friends. So now have to remember not to put anything controversial up (or make any updates in work hours!).

Well, it's October so the Season of the Puke has begun again. CM's ds4 sick on Tuesday, my ds sick yesterday and now running a fever ... by last year's experiences, I should be sick today but feel okay. Repeat as necessary until end of March!
